@@SeemsLegitGarage i just recently returned my gcu because it was total dog shit. i can show you how i had to take a part a 15k dollar pure transmission because it fucked it all up. i wouldnt use htg if you tried to pay me 25k dollars . turbo lamik tcu is way better. it runs on the factory bmw flash and resets adaptations, and then you use tuner pro to tune. went from not being able to drive the car on the street with htg becuase it was jerky and terrible, to driving it like an oem 335i with lamik tcu. i ttook htg a year to refund me and they sent parts insteaed of money. aside from the tuning and electronics. the 8hp75 is godly for n54 cars. i make the torque converter adapter to use the a90 8hp5x converter with the 8hp70 as long as you use a 17mm adapter plate( all n54 to 8hp adapters are 17mm) . i have a 5k rpm billet stator a90 converter in my full billet 8hp75 and its rated for 1600 ft lbs. i leave on the trans brake 20+ psi and my car sees 40 psi and it doesnt miss a beat. drives like oem until you want it to come alive .

8hp has pretty damn fast up shifts but down shifting is okay. It's annoying dropping multiple gears on decel. I had it tuned which greatly improved its behavior. However its not predictable enough for me to push my f30 to the limit. I feel like a bit off padding is needed just incase it doesn't down shift exactly when I want or for having to ask it to down shift again...
when you do the swap you use a custom tcu with standalone tuning.. i have a pure drivetrain solutions 8hp75 in my 335i with lamik tcu and my car shifts exactly how i tell it to. run the alpina b3 flash on the 8hp70 and it downshifts like a race car.
i sent my htg controller back becuase it was dogshit and didnt have open loop tuning. almost ruined my 15k dollars pure drivetrain solutions transmission. had to be completely taken apart and frictions replaced. turbolamik tcu 2.0 is lightyears better. just my honest 2 cents.. its a year later and i only got a shifter and some paddles for my $1600 refund. even with my bad experience with HTG , ive been told they have fixed the bugs and now their system does work but i cant reccomend it until i see one in person because mine was FUCKED. you can buy 8hp75 for 600 dollars shipped from ebay uk. the 8hp50 and 8hp75 have identical internal gearing when you run a 3.31 final drive on the 8hp75. i make the adapter and a90 converter adapter to use with 8hp75. im in so cal. if you have someone to machine a few sets, ill send the cad files. if you use the 8hp70 converter, it weighs twice what the a90 converter does and you cant get good response from it, revving the big converter above 7k is also dangerous lol. ive spent so much money breaking these transmissions over the last 3 years doing this swap. if there is anything you guys need parts or tuning etc let me know , im always down to help .
the 'debate' between HTG and Lamik is super tough to work through from the outside, without any firsthand experience with either yet... both seem to swear the other is shit haha

I have never heard or experienced that, DCT has launch control and you can code it to start in 1st or 2nd. 8HP can have a slight advantage with trans break, but a 6hp just break boosting wouldn't be faster.
So what’s keeping you guys from using an 8HP45? As far as I can tell they seem to be able to hold the power as well as the 2nd and 3rd gen boxes and are just as good in terms of responsiveness.

I’ve been looking for a more modern solution to the SMG in my M5. The manual swap is where the money is because of the “save the manuals” purists, but frankly boring. I like the idea of a DCT, or the 8 speed. From what I gather it’s never been done successfully with the S85. Do you make adapters for the S85?
Any reason why you went with an 8HP50 w/ adapter plate instead of just going with an N55 8HP45 that bolts right up to the n54? I've been looking into this swap and a pure drivetrain solutions 8HP45 seems like it makes the most sense to go with in the States unless there's some major difference between the 45 and 50 that makes it a better transmission that I'm not aware of.
@@truecapacityfitness1611 the 50 doesnt hold anymore power than the 45. youll destroy the internals at 650hp. 8hp70 can hold close to 900hp with just tuning. with clutches and billet baskets it can handle 1500+ ft lbs at the wheels. 8hp50 would never even fully built.

with an 8 speed and assuming you are running 255/35/18's with a 3.85 rear end you can get to 212mph at 7000 rpm. and about 3000 rpm at 90mph. a 3.08 would go 265mph in 8th gear at 7000 rpm and cruse at 118mph at 3000rpm. 2117 rpm at 80mph and 1720rpm at 65mph.

@@TML34 You should, the ford works amazing. We track our cars and make lots of ford kits, many race teams save huge amounts of lap times with the awesome carbon clutch LSD we use. Custom gears are crazy expensive.

I think Mfactory might have an in-between ratio that would be perfect. All I need is a different ring and pinion that bolts up to the factory crown wheel. Ratio swaps should be relatively straight forward.
i may do this rather than replace the cutch again in my n54 drift street car. clutch companies are a-holes and don't just flat out say torque ratings and go "stage whatever"

they all have their place but we believe the 8hp is better all around. Holds more power, has a real trans brake for launches, smoother take up control and shifts basically just as fast as the DCT.
What about the 6hp70? I know they aren't quite as good as the 8hp in terms of weight and shift speeds but they're pretty stout aren't they? 1000ft/lbs of torque capable and can be used with stock computers right?
I don’t think they ever made a 6hp70, furthest it goes is 6hp28 I believe? Either way there’s a reason guys in Europe switched to the 8hp a few years ago it’s a much better gearbox in all aspects.

To my understanding you can pair them to the factory computer and should run like stock, and being able to tune them through XHP in flashes. Ti be completely honest I'd prefer the 8hp route, but I drive an xdrive car and they are very hard to find (8hp70/75 specifically) at the moment I'm really trying to decide between rebuilding my stock trans with upgraded internals and torque converter, or going either hp28 or 8hp45/50 as they're showing up in yards nowadays...thanks for your input by the way
I'm sorry, this is for me personally. As a who automatics to their limit. I rather have the dinosaur manual. Manuals have never let me down. Racing wise I rather just invest in a proper sequential gearbox (paddle or lever)
Manuals are awesome but when it comes to dropping 20k on a sequential and the rebuild required its not practical for 99% of the use case out of professional racing

Early on htg had teething problems but it works very very well with the new firmware and closed loop control of the tune and throttle control

We can use the E90 M3 transmission without the need for an adapter for that application

The BMW 70 isn't much wider but the dodge 70 is a little bit, some whacks to the trans tunnel are needed to fit the dodge.

Ti be completely honest I'd prefer the 8hp route, but I drive an xdrive car and they are very hard to find (8hp70/75 specifically) at the moment I'm really trying to decide between rebuilding my stock trans with upgraded internals and torque converter, or going either hp28 or 8hp45/50 as they're showing up in yards nowadays...thanks for your input by the way

I'm sorry, this is for me personally. As a who automatics to their limit. I rather have the dinosaur manual. Manuals have never let me down. Racing wise I rather just invest in a proper sequential gearbox (paddle or lever)
Manuals are awesome but when it comes to dropping 20k on a sequential and the rebuild required its not practical for 99% of the use case out of professional racing
