I love NPH but he's pretty well know to be kind of an asshole so it is surprising to see him in the video. I bet he got the bench for free in exchange for being in the video.
You're brave using the term JIG these days, try using FIXTURE. This will keep the Cancle Culture off your ass. Cool Niel Patrick Harris watches UA-cam.
It’s soooo nice to see someone with great financial resources not only support a master craftsman by ordering a custom piece, but by very openly sharing his talents to help promote the channel. As always, great woodworking. And now with a super friendly, caring, thoughtful and supportive star to help spread the word.
He is awesome. I always liked him. And supporting a woodworker like this is so good. Bourbon Moth is going to need some helpers. I bet he gets many new orders for his fine craftsmanship.
If the actor did high school theater than they probably have a soft spot for craftsman considering they probably built their first sets. Nick Offerman another actor for example has a wood working shop.
Dude that is so cool, I can't believe that you actually know ...Keith Johnson, much less got to work in his shop..man I hope you got his autograph..oh and it nice of you to make that bench for that other guy.
Not only did he play Dougie Howser as a kid for a long time that was all he was known for so he heard it a lot. I think he was pretty tired of hearing it, hence the reaction from NPH. It wasn't until he played Barney Stinson on "How I met your mother" he gained widespread recognition.
@MrAbletospeak He always seems a bit sensitive about the role but I enjoyed the show. Perhaps not as serious as his theater productions but I still think it's a bright spot... Especially for his age at the time.
I’ve always appreciated the self deprecating humor of NPH. It pairs well with the Bourbon Moth style. Keith was a great addition. It was great to see the collaboration.
This guy is so fun. I love that he doesn't take himself too seriously and brings so much humor and comedy to his videos. This channel has become a mainstay in my UA-cam roster and I look forward to these vids. Keep it up man!
Man, I can't even imagine how amazing it would feel to make something that special for an awesome dude like NPH! So happy for your, and so proud that he chose someone from our community to make something like that for his family. Seriously awesome.
I love watching woodworking videos but love NPH more. Glad the UA-cam bots did something good for over and suggested this vid. Looks amazing, well done
Wow, what an incredibly precise, technical, and beauuuuutiful build!!! Such a thoughtful gift for Neil to give his husband for their anniversary. I love the special touch you gave it by adding the 17 in roman numerals around the top. I've never heard of that kind of wood before...gonna have to go do some research on it. What a terrific collaboration for all involved. Well done, and thanks for sharing.
@@alisinwanderland I have a UA-cam channel, I'm pretty sure I have several clips of my campers interior in several of my videos. Otherwise you could look up northern lite truck campers and they have two kinds of trim options: one is a stained oak and the other is their sapele, if which I feel is better.
Ah yes, the guy from Starship Troopers. Also the bench turned out great! It's so satisfying to see a bunch of raw material being turned into works of art with the precision of Swiss watches.
The number of times that they had to assemble, disassemble, reassemble blew my mind. I don't think I'd have the patience for that. So much time spent on this project. Kudos on them for this beautiful build.
Many of us have watched and loved Neil Patrick Harris throughout his life. He’s a known good guy… And how awesome for y’all to hook up with him and do this project. And getting paid in bourbon, a couple of bucks too sounds like a win win

Actually I am a tree surgeon, and that root is called a Girdling roots. They are lateral roots that emerge at or slightly below the soil surface and cut into at least one side of the main trunk. These roots restrict the movement of water and nutrients to the leaves as they put pressure on the trunk. So you unknowingly helped the tree! Good job!
Love everything about this build and video. You guys absolutely killed it and it was very refreshing to see Neil and his husband's appreciation of the work. Plus it was cool seeing Neil contribute to the content of the video as well. Great job all around guys.

That was quite a job, getting all the measurements just right for the Shelf that fits the tree just right, right down to the seat backs & the actual seating around the tree. Great job guys. Awesome build.
The bench is absolutely gorgeous. Hard to believe the work that went into it to make it this beautiful. Also NPH is an absolute GEM! One of the best actors and his humor in almost every acting gig I have seen in him is priceless. And ya... he also seems like a wicked cool guy.

Beautiful piece of furniture, yet what I really loved was the creativity and ingenuity that went Into some of those awesome jigs and fixtures. You should consider making some videos that deal solely with the variety of jigs for various repetitive tasks.
This video was epic. So. Much. Work. And so much of that work was repetitive, yet my eyes were riveted to the screen the entire build. Literally laughed out loud multiple times over the hilarious shenanigans between Jason and Keith. The final bench install looked amazing. And it warmed my heart to see how excited Neil and David were when they saw the bench, and to hear from Jason how great Neil was to work with. Jason and Keith, please figure out a way to do more builds together! You two are awesome!
Great looking project! I'm glad to hear you confirm that NPH is truly as kind a person as is purported. I can't wait to be done with school so I have time to get back into the shop! Keep up the excellent content!
I worked with Neil on the Broadway production of “Hedwig and The Angry Inch”. Part of my job was to fly him over the stage for the opening number every night. He is the real deal and a genuine nice guy, as is his husband and their kids. Great looking bench
Man, I love your videos. I always look forward to the next video coming out! I’m a contractor that has been dabbling in wood working more and more in recent months. I have always loved it but never got very into it. You inspired me to do it more. Love seeing how you do your work and your comedic relief in every video. Looking forward to the next one! Keep up the good work👍
To know that the tree will still outlast the bench is a real mind bender! Love the way the anniversary was displayed too. Very very nice. Great video and project!
The only thing better than Keith's jigs is his cat. Also I was worried about the tree splitting the bench at the end there, that's very interesting/surprising to hear how little the trunk will grow - I assume most of the growth is up and out at this point in its life? neat stuff
