Jean happily laughing on the Southend Rollercoaster was a very clever but subtle meaning from the writers. At a first glace you automatically think its Jean being completely innocent and getting in touch with her childish side by enjoying herself in the rollercoaster. If you look at the rollercoaster scene again you soon realise it was pointing towards a much deeper meaning about her bipolar condition and the way it makes her. The rollercoaster is all about her uncontrollable and unstable emotions left untreated or without professional help from a doctor or a psychiatrist.
I have someone close to me who has bipolar and Gillian and Lacey are botn amazing. I go quite manic if im very nervous. I was concerned about it but the Doctors say its more of a shyness/antisocial thing
Very painful to watch bipolar seems like hell for the poor sufferers my heart breaks for Jean 💔💔😞😞hospital care is vital as it can get so out of control as she put herself in very harmful situations as her illness progressed poor lady 😞😞
Where ever I watch this there's always that part of me that wishes people left jean alone because even though her bipolar is out of control at the same time she just looks so happy but I always have to remind myself that even though she look and maybe even is truly happy that dosent mean she still dosent need help from her friends and family
I have someone close to me like this She comes across like she's so happy but I know it's mania. And eventually she comes crashing down and you learn to see the signs. She seems like Tigger then turns into Eeyore. The only way I can describe it. I hate her upset afterwards when she realises how ill she has been. Gillian is a brilliant actor. The way she turns on Stacey is normal too
@@christinebrett4825 thank you for sharing that even though I cannot relate to what you've experienced it sounds like your friend has people who really care for her and that they are clearly in good hands
Jean has been a nutter since she came on the show. Back when her hair was brown & Bianca & Pat were still on the show. How are we still dealing with her not seeing a doctor on the reg or upping her meds in 2022?
I've come here today, to rewatch this. EE has been so boring recently for me, i'm not too interested in the other storylines. as commenting, we haven't seen stacey, much of jean, theo, denise, eve, jack for like 5 weeks - i assume stacey's storyline is paused while bobby (freddie) is on strictly? I'd actually love to see if EE's viewing stats have declined both on iplayer + TV .
I don’t see how giving your mums partner advice not to marry her is helping her - I understand that Jean is not well with her bipolar but mentally sick people still deserve to have relationships and not be single for the rest of their lives- that’s part of their human rights & their disability rights
@@tokublwhovian Except this is a Tv show mate, not everybody wants to have mental illnesses shoved down their throat every other minute.. life is depressing enough!! Eastenders survived without it in the 90s and 80s
Lola was the only one not over reacting like the snowflakes of today . When Arthur said Aunty Jean did it, she just brushed it off how it should be. Kids now are so wishy washy
Gillian Wright was incredible with this bipolar storyline👏👏👏👏
This episode broke my GD heart! So well played.
Having her on the rollercoaster was such a good metaphor.
I have bipolar
Believe me it's difficult.

Great to learn about this
Down at Southend on the pier - nearly the exact same spot the Fowlers went searching for Mark all those years ago.
Huge fan of Gillian wright who plays Jean and love the character of Jean on Eastenders x

It was more about not marrying her while she was spiralling
it would be classed as harvey taking advantage due to jean’s mental state , therefore, stacey was protecting harvey and jean from scrutiny.
Me on the vodka 😂😂
It’s not funny.
I can't help but find Stacey even more annoying
Stacey got better looking with age
😅😅
Sick and tired of them losing their marbles every minute
Well, that’s how bipolar works. Till you or someone you know experiences it, keep your trap shut.
@@tokublwhovian well said. It’s sad how people are so uneducated on these things.
