A really nice version of a 1930 pop tune that sounds like it came from the 1890s. I first heard it decades ago on a Leadbelly LP. It moved into the country field before 1942 with versions by Carson Robison as Bud Billings, The Callahan Family, and Mac and Bob. In the 1950s and later, Fat Domino, Ray Price, the Everly Bros., and lots of NOLA bands have done it

I count 6 strings on the banjo. In fact it looks like he took the neck from a guitar and mounted it on a banjo body.
It's a 6-string banjo tune the same as a guitar. Rod Stewart plays the same instrument on a UA-cam video mandolin wind

ROGER OFFORD I call him the Marlboro man. Cigs and alcohol will make you sing like you’ve been gargling with Drano. I like Greg he was born in another time ......
