Good news: I have a lot of new videos coming out in the next days. Right now I have about 7 new videos ready and will try to post them bi-daily; so A LOT of videos are coming up! -Stay tuned!
I like the fact that not much has been dumbed down in the SE so you are not missing out too much if you chose the smaller (more practical) phone. I just love the compact size of it and since the S10e and the Iphone 11 are IMO to much money for a phone, it's good to have other options.
No, the difference in stabilization is there because the snapdragon 712 isn´t able to electronically stabilize 4k video while 855 obviously can. When you switch to Full HD, the difference will be close to none.
Great video with a great selection of photos for comparison (although maybe a few more low light shots would have been good). However, my eye only preferred the SE on about 5 shots, and I didn't have as many draws. To each their own, but after watching your video, I personally felt that the gap between the Mi 9 and the SE in photography/video was bigger than I had previously imagined. Super useful video. Looking forward to what you've got coming next!
The video gets cropped and scaled up on the Mi 9 in order to apply stabilization in software. With a gimbal, the SE would probably look better out of the box, and both would look identical if there is a way to turn off stabilization.
xiaomify have they sorted out the stabilisation issues via software (September 2019)? Really interested in the SE but this is the one problem holding me back
Thank you for the comparison! This is exactly what I needed to make a clear choice between the 2. The size of the SE made it interesting for me to buy it over the Mi 9. Sadly the SE doesn't have enough stability during filming.. Now I have narrowed my choices, between the Mi 9 and Mi Mix 3 (EIS vs IOS).
It looks like SE has no stabilization, while the Mi 9 has it (hence the video being less sharp). With a gimbal they would probably look identical, but then, the gimbal would eat up the price difference between the two. I'm likely going with the SE in a few months, since I want to get a gimbal anyway, as I can keep that between phone updates. :)
Would be interesting to see if the Mi 9 SE 48MP mode photos with digital zoom are better than the telephoto lens ones. For videos, just record in Full HD, you probably won't need 4K anyway. And the wide-angle lens is surprisingly better. Great Video, thank you!
I was shocked with the quality of wide angle in mi 9 se. I have the mi 9, and I thought that wide lens of MI 9 were much better than mi 9 se, because of his resolution and lens aperture. But, the angle is superior and sometimes have more sharpness than the wide angle of the mi 9. Luckily, this is the only point that mi 9 se can win, the video is much superior and the telephotos lens are also too, and this make me feel better about my bought.
Bro plz also make Xiaomi smart products reviews because everyone covering Xiaomi's smartphone but only few of them knows Xiaomi also makes Smart home products also. I know your channel for Xiaomi smart products reviews. Nowadays Xiaomi launch almost everyday new smart products under his sub-brands which I want to see on your channel.
I guess it's all about the post-processing of the video what makes the difference. The Mi9 looks better but I'm sure you can edit that SE to look the same.
Slightly sharper for "some reason"? The reason is lack of image stabilization. The "crop" and lack of sharpness happens because the video is stabilized in software; scaled up to cover more than 4K and then rotated around to look stable, like you guessed, and must be the CPU. So I guess ideally one would have to use the SE + a gimbal. Edit: I wonder if the photo differences are just random post-processing variation? The saturation of the reds (leaning slightly into pinks), especially, jumps between the two. Are the image results the same for either if you take 5 photos of the same colorful scene in a row?
Great video, although I can't agree with all your ASSESSMENT, ESPECIALLY THE PAIRS IN 8:18. The better sharpness from Mi9 SE is almost negligible here but the better dynamic range from the Mi9 is very evident. Just look at how the front of the white car id almost all blown out in the SE photo. Anyway., i been enjoying your channel. Even in Malaysia, where Xiaomi phones are easily available, many of their other products are not.
Not within the default camera app. But there's a 48 MP option which gets a very good 6000x8000 pixels photo and looks better then the magic with RAW pictures
Great video like always👍. Good comparison with a lot of details. Keep up the good work. Looking forward for the next videos. Btw waiting for WIXD videos ✌
If you buy a smartphone for the sole pupose of making videos and are willing to spend more than 300 bucks for it, the Mi 9 is the better choice but just for the photos it is IMHO not worth it. If you don't buy more smartphone than you actually need and price-performance is important to you, go for the Mi 9 Se. The number of people who really need a flagship device based on their use case is really small.
Yesterday i went to mi store to try mi9. Im little bit disappointed because the pictures i took always jigged maybe becos no ois. U really need to hold the camera very ² steady
I agree. I've got a OnePlus 6 and the stability for video recording is miles ahead! I really want a phone the that has a wide angle camera but stable great video at 4K. (That I don't have to pay a huge price for) maybe I'll get a OnePlus 7 Pro in 6 months when the price drops haha
I did this experience myself. Put Gcam on my Mi 9 se. Took one video on Gcam, other on the camera app. Noticeable difference? Hell yes. It was filmed in 4k as well. Gcam is a godsend
great video! i would like to see a comparison between pocophone f1, mi 8 and mi 9 se with and without google camera. also, would be nice to see selfie comparisons (:
I rarely upload in 4K, to be honest, but I personally prefer to shoot 4K on phones as it typically looks a lot better when downscaled to 1080P. (It heavily reduces noise that way and makes for sharper looking HD video)
Can you make a vid showing if these sites are sell real or counterfeit global versions? Id really want to get this phone but am unsure of where to buy it.
I have received OTA updates for both the Mi 9 and the Mi9 SE (both global versions) and I am in China. -So I suppose that should be the same in India :)
Good comparison, but these vids crack me up. Is everyone suddenly a professional photographer? I think it has been over 10 years since I had had a phone where I found the pics unacceptable.
Good news: I have a lot of new videos coming out in the next days.
Right now I have about 7 new videos ready and will try to post them bi-daily; so A LOT of videos are coming up!

What about selfie cam comparison dude?,?
bahasa indonesia ?
No sense to compare 4k video, since SE doesn't have DIS at 4k.
still should compare. but maybe on a tripod to check only the quality
Hope to see a comparison between the mi9se vs the mi8. especially since we can get the mi9se for around the same price as the mi8.
Yeaz just to say this. Mi 8 might have superior processing with snapdragon 845 and optical stabilization but who knows.
I hope too
No wide camera on the mi8
Agree
Who is the best? Mi 9 se or mi 8 ?
I like the fact that not much has been dumbed down in the SE so you are not missing out too much if you chose the smaller (more practical) phone. I just love the compact size of it and since the S10e and the Iphone 11 are IMO to much money for a phone, it's good to have other options.
I'm not sure u turned on the stabilization on the mi9 se, my friends mi8 lite is way more stable than that
No, the difference in stabilization is there because the snapdragon 712 isn´t able to electronically stabilize 4k video while 855 obviously can. When you switch to Full HD, the difference will be close to none.
yeah I am very sure it was turned on. I had to double check that as well. I am thinking that a possible software update will improve it though
Did you switch hands when filming with both phones?
Hey!
Do you think, the difference of video stabilization disappears when using a gimbal?
Of course! With gimbal you can make more stabilized videos like Mi 9 or every smartphone with optical stabilisation.
Great video with a great selection of photos for comparison (although maybe a few more low light shots would have been good).
However, my eye only preferred the SE on about 5 shots, and I didn't have as many draws. To each their own, but after watching your video, I personally felt that the gap between the Mi 9 and the SE in photography/video was bigger than I had previously imagined.

for videography, which one do you prefer mi 9 or mix 3?
I got dizzy by watching mi 9 se stabilization hopefully they roll out an update or something to fix EIS. Mi 9 se is focusing too much as well
Yah I think they can do a OTA update to improve this as well. Hope to see it roll out soon :)
xiaomify have they sorted out the stabilisation issues via software (September 2019)? Really interested in the SE but this is the one problem holding me back
Marcus Figueroa Me too
They solve the problem of video stabilization on the Mi9 SE? I am also very interesting in buying one, I like more the size of the SE. Thanks a lot
@@xiaomify update us please did they fix it or no ?

This is a great video comparison.
I’m torn between Mi 9 or Mi 9 SE.
In term of video, Mi 9 is number one. Budget wise, Mi 9 SE.
Great review! I wonder, how is it possible for 9 SE to have that much better results with wide-angle camera although the camera has fewer MPs?
What about the sound in the video ?
I guess it's all about the post-processing of the video what makes the difference. The Mi9 looks better but I'm sure you can edit that SE to look the same.
