I've had the mi 9 se for 10 days now and I absolutely love it, the size of the flagship phones is getting ridiculous this is as big as phones need to be, feels great in the hand if only it had the same hardware as the mi 9 it would be the best allrounder phone available.

I think the Mi 9se looks better than the regular Mi 9. Have you had issues with notifications not appearing? That's the only thing holding me back from getting it right now.

I'm honestly thinking Poco still offers more for the price than any phone at this point (still after so many months!) but the Mi 9 SE feels more modern, and if you want to get the Sony IMX586 in a premium feeling but not so pricey phone then it's probably a good choice!
Great review. The mi9 is an absolute value in the premium phone category. I'm interested with how the poco phone 2 will slot between the budget note7 and the mi 9. Im guessing the poco phone 2 will come with a snapdragon 845 with a non amoled screen and a lower grade gorilla glass.

I'm really hoping its the same phone as the Mi 9, but with a plastic back and slightly lesser features (no wireless charging, NFC) but at a price point closer to the Mi 9 SE. That would be an amazing phone!

I think mi8 is better in terms of performance, due to the higher chipset (sd845) but the mi8 has a ugly notch which the mi9(se) doesnt. Also i think the mi9se will receive updates longer because its newer. And the camera of the 9 is better i think
please do a comparison between the Mi 9 Se and the Redmi Note 7 test battery and cameras. I'm doubtful between one and another Mi 9 If by the technology but with small battery and the Redmi Note 7 by its battery.
Frankie, Mi 9 and Redmi Note 7 global version does have Widevine L1. seems like most Xiaomi phone from now on will come with L1 out of the box. some article also mentions that Mi 9SE from WMC 2019 is spotted to be running on global rom. at least we have more hope on the global release now.
A few hours of social media, youtube, and 4-5 games at most of mobile legends. Seeing frankie's drain test with the se version lasting for 9 hours, I also think it should do just fine.

Thanks and glad you enjoyed! From what I see there is no notification LED which is unfortunate especially considering the Mi 9 has one. That said it now has a great ambient display mode which has multiple customization options.

EXACTLY! I hope people read your comment because this is how I feel as well. The only negative really is LTE bands support, CDM Widevine and perhaps more limited non Asia language options. It takes 2 minutes to download Google software, and now my unit feels very similar to the Global ROM. Lucky for me as well all LTE bands are supported in Hong Kong with this China version, so really nothing to complain about!
I think the reviews should show the radiation level of such phones. This is also a big difference with other premium brands. Gives a better perspective on the price difference with such brands as well.

I think the notch was actually updated in software. It now looks more like the teardrop on the Mi 9 or One Plus 6T

Yes very similar, although Mi 9 SE is slightly wider and taller, but with a far larger screen size (4.7 vs 6 inch).
