    Hi! I got the code p0851(same 3 lights on as you showed in your video) for my 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5 AT NT. Changed the neutral park switch but still code shows up then finally heard the zzzzzzz(buzzing sound) from transmission even the car ignition was off or when I turn the ignition key on.

    • @PhillipBailey

      You have to start with a diagnosis of what the actual problem it. A scanner will be connected to the DLC and a network scan of all controllers will be performed. That will give some direction. From there is could be a simple as a spark plug and as complicated as a engine repair. Most shops charge about an hour for a diagnosis but it all depends on the shop. If I were asked to diagnose the condition I usually say that I can give you a report in around an hour. good luck

      You need to have the abs and traction control systems scanned for codes. Start with that and depending on what tge scanner displays go from there. I cant really tell without driving it or at least retrieving codes. You will need a factory level scan tool as an OBD2 scanner wount be enough.

All the warning lights go crazy, then engine would turn off) but this came out a few days after I had the A/C evaporator changed out and they had to take out the entire A/C fan and everything.. went to a mechanic friend.. checked the engine, it was working fine, checked system.. fault codes detected.. we reset the system.. calibrated to default.. then bingo.. everything went back to normal.. and I gave my mechanic friend a big tip and went on my my way.. whew.. i thought it done for.. dodged a huge bullet..

      Phillip Bailey, yup.. I agree.. fingers crossed though.. they said that due to the repairs done on the A/C and they removed the battery, when they turned it back on the systems were not linked anymore or there the system detected faults due to it not syncing properly with the entire system.. thats why every time you repair/ replace/ remove any part of the vehicle the system has to be reset and recalibrated to default in order for all the systems to be synced properly again.. but anyway, hoping this helped as well.. thank you..

    -cruise light flashes
    -ABS light on

    Codes:
    C0071
    C0026

    I am about to check both rear ABS sensors for shorts, wire damage, etc.
    Any tips? And how do you reset the codes? In my 06 civic I could reset through the OBD2 scanner or unhooking they battery, but cannot with this car. The codes didn’t come up with my scanner, I ran a scan by turning the lights on, pressing the trip button four times, etc

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  4 роки тому +1

      I'll check what those codes point too. Sounds like ABS and TCS codes. They can only be cleared with an Dealer level scanner, Maxisys, Snapon, Launch etc. An OBD 2 only scanner won't do and neither will disconnecting the battery.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  4 роки тому +3

      C0071 is a problem with the steering angle sensor. This can arise due to a failed sensor or if steering repairs and/or alignment have been recently performed and it was not re-centered. it just may need to recalibrated. Need a good scan tool to perform this. C0025/26 are faults for the right rear speed sensor wiring, sensor failure or erratic signal. The sensor picks its signal up from the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly, check for looseness in the bearing and hub assembly that might cause an erratic signal. Check the wiring for visible damage. I'm note sure if the reluctor is prone to failure. Sensors and wheel bearings are commonly replaced to correct this code. I would address the speed sensor code and once that's corrected perform a relearn on the steering angle sensor. The P0031 code in the ECM sets with a problem with the Bank 1 Sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor heater circuit malfunctions. If the wiring to the O2 sensor looks good it will likely require a new sensor. This is also called the air fuel ratio sensor and is located in front of the cat converter. You should be able to clear this code with the OBD2 scanner/reader. Good Luck

I replaced all 4 sensors with after market parts from China to save about 400 dollars, and a week later boom, cruise control wouldn't work again, ABS light on, and anti skid light on. Disconnected positive terminal and pressed brakes to drain built up electricity, will update later. So you can temporarily reset it by unhooking positive cable fir 5 minutes, pressing on brakes, then turning key on for 5 minutes without starting. Problem will resurface but it'll get you down the road a ways, but that is a reset without a scanner

      1. The code is for the confirmation oil pressure switch/circuit of the Variable Valve Lift system.
      2. Unplug both Variable Valve Lift (VVL) diagnosis oil pressure switches and measure the reference voltage out of the PCM, Key On Engine Off (KOEO). If they match, the circuit from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the oil pressure switch is assumed good.
      3. Reconnect the oil pressure switches then backprobe test that the reference voltage is pulled to ground (0.0 volts) by the normally closed oil pressure switches.
      4. At 4000 RPM, when the VVL solenoids turn on, the oil pressure switches go open and the PCM expects to see the reference voltage return.
      Tech Tips: Do not over-tighten the oil pressure switch(s), it may crack the cylinder head protrusion where it is mounted.
      Any significant codes in the engine control computer will disable ABS, cruise and Stability control turning on all the warning lights.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  4 роки тому +2

      There are literally hundreds of possible causes for the lights to be on. The MIL will illuminate whenever the ECM detects a problem that affects emissions. Most times there are no other symptoms but on Subaru vehicles the engineers have the Cruise disabled and the Vehicle Stability Control disabled when the check engine light, (MIL) is on. (I believe to encourage the owner to get it fixed). You need to have it scanned for codes and go from there. If the MIL is flashing while driving that is serious and indicates a significant missfire is happening and likely damaging the catalytic converter/s. Good luck. Has nothing to do with the oil change. Could be the fuel cap is not sealed as well.

The other code for the TCC solenoid is a mechanical problem with the solenoid. Stuck on or off I'm not sure. How's the transmission fluid level and quality. If it actually has a missfire the MIL is supposed to begin flashing if it is severe enough. Could be more than one problem and it's possible the transmission codes are old. Have to see what returns. Those transmission codes are not good news. The p0731 and 32 are undefined gear ratio. Basically the transmission is likely slipping. Start by checking the fluid level and quality. It should be pinkish is color. If its low check for an external leak. If it's full but dark it's likely burnt and the transmission will need to be rebuilt or replaced. Get an opinion from a reputable transmission shop. Should avoid driving it as you may be doing more damage.
