How Light is a Lightweight EBike? Understanding Electric Bike Weights

E Bikes are heavier than standard bicycles. This is because electric bikes have a battery and a motor, adding approximately 10 - 35lbs of weight. But how much does a lightweight ebike weigh? Well ebikes can come as light as about 25lbs but the lighter weight an electric bike is usually the smaller the motor and battery are. Generally the only way to reduce the weight of ebike is to make the bike smaller and also the motor and the battery. Also, the materials the ebike is constructed out of will have a large impact. An alloy or carbon ebike frame will weight less than a steel frame. When thinking about how much you want your ebike to weight it's important to think about how you'll use it. Finding a very lightweight electric bike may increase the price. Also, as mentioned it may reduce the motor and battery size so it's very important to think about your personal use case.

Why was the weight of the Simple Step-Thru 20" so difficult to find? It should be in the specs section on the website. It is the most important factor for me after the price of any step-through ebike that fits my 5'1" height.
