I saw this tank in the german tank museum a while ago. The whole crew was located in the giant turret which was protected against nbc weapons. As far as I read it never really saw battle or high production numbers, but instead served as a prototype for further developement. It was the predecessor of Germany's Leopard 2 and the US' M1 Abrams. Interesting tank I think
Only ever produced as a prototype. As with the Leopard 1 Germany and France tried to collaborate on a tank project but couldn't agree on anything and gave up. This time they invited along America, Italy, and the UK, who all disagreed on everything even more. The idea of putting everybody in the turret was that the vehicle could have a much smaller hull and therefore a lower profile, which was considered a major advantage for tanks at the time. I'm not sure how much design philosophy got carried over to the M1 and Leopard 2 from the MBT-70, as far as I can tell the whole project was an abject failure, but it was an interesting idea that was worth exploring, and it was a valiant effort to get everyone in NATO to use the same tank.
CHALLENGE: Tandem gameplay. You be the driver and someone else (Laura most likely) be the gunner. Switch places every time you die. The challenge being you must destroy at least one player controlled tank before you are destroyed. 3 strikes and you're out. 3 kills in a row and you win. [Do this in the slowest reloading tank (or the Archer) just to amp up the anxiety level] [note] Crap, I'm probably too late with this one.
Dont forget IS 4M at 7.7 too stuck with 230mm max pen APHE. The problem is that these tanks dont belong at 8.7, and putting the Maus and Is4 down to 7.3 (cant do just one) would mean 6.3s would fight tanks they cant physically penetrate at any range. The Maus needs to stay at 7.7, its these monsters that need to go to at least 9.3 and then decompress the BR from 5.7 to 9.3
Exactly why I stopped playing this game. The BR system is broken, It needs a brand new overhaul. Not to mention the RP grind for t5 tanks... I don't even want to see what t6 RP is like
The reload was nerfed, despite being unrealistically slow now... The American had slow manual reload, whereas the German had an Autoloader, but no ATGM..
Realism Challenge 2.0 To be done in at least 6.3 matchmaking. This requires two people. One uses a 3.3 Sherman to spot the enemy tanks. You are only allowed to kill tanks yourself if it's absolutely needed. The other uses a P-47D-25 and is only allowed to kill what the Sherman spots. Attempt #4
Aussie Militant it's not going to be facing post-war tanks. At 6.3 with Americans, in my experience, you're almost always facing the Germans. This means you'll be going up against King Tigers and Panthers, tanks which the Shermans would often go up against. And often times, the Shermans would report in locations of enemy tanks for USAAF fighters to destroy. Therefore, realism challenge.
Infirito I'm not so sure anymore; according to reports from the field, HVARs have been nerfed. Guess the Russians complained enough to get Gajin to change it. You want to nerf Russian rockets, tho? Nah, those are balanced.
I enjoy watching your vids so much Phly because I know I will never get to T6 tanks. Or at least, it will take me a billion more hours of play time. The KPz-70 and MBT-60 look so amazingly fun to play. Though I'm surprised they kept the 155mm gun/launcher for the KPz-70, when it was planned for the KPz-70 to have a 120mm cannon. Would have been nice to have unique playstyles for each tank, but oh well! Thanks for all your great content Phly! I hope you never get so tired of Warthunder that you stop making videos!

No... It wouldn't. 9.0 would probably be ideal for now, since there aren't many 8.3 tanks in the game, and that would have had a neglibible effect to the wait time. There is just no reason this thing should be facing Maus's and M103's.
I dont know...The only people at the moment playing these new tanks and planes are the people that have spent a ridic amount of money on GE to get these things..... By the time people without premium and no GE just a standard account get these things there will be rank 9 tanks that put these tanks down the shitter

SgtGio Let me dispute over your saying. First of all I am a lvl 100 player. Besides that my encounters with the P51H weren't many (probably 4 times by now with the mk24) and every time I was at an energy disadvantage. 3 of those times I ended up dead and in the last one I managed to escape. I am not saying the P51H is a clear winner against the mk24 but I just stated the facts regarding my (short) experience against it. Moreover, It'd be nice if you were less rude :)
Everytime I see this tank I'm like "Damn, that thing is awesome, I'm gonna grind it right now!" And then, after one match in my Leo, I remember how terrible rank V already is. So it's probably gonna be a waste of time for me. I'll stay to mid-tier, which is by far the most fun imho. Also the German one is way higher. Also the repair costs are ... interesting.
The MBT70 was a joint effort between Germany and the US to create a next generation main battle tank. Ultimately the project was split and both nations came up with their own designs. The Germans devised the Leopard 1 and the Americans devised the XM803 which became the M1.

Love the MBT/Kpz-70. It's pretty much the missing link between Heavy Tanks and modern Main Battle Tanks. Plus with it having mounted the 152 mm XM150E5 main armament, it was very powerful. It's a shame though that the US and Germany decided for something different, and stopped development on it.

burr the Centurion Mk2 entered full production in 1945, a variant we don't have. The Mk1 is from early 45; yes, but that thing is horrendously undertiered, and I regurarely drive it, so I can say it with certainty. And the Mk10 came along in 1959 and entered full-scale production a few months later. And frankly, the Vickers and the Mk10 are both undertiered heavily aswell. The only excuse for them beeing there is that they are they only good counter to the even bigger cancer of the IS-6. That said, this does not apply to every nation, since the germans can't be matched together for some reason with the British in tank RB, and are thus lacking any non-premium counter to the IS-6. There is a reason why the germans lose pretty much all 7.0 games when they have to fight on their own.

Only the Kpz-70 is supposed to be armed with a 120 mm smooth bore. The reason the us and Germany ended up canceling the project was the difference in gun and engine choice, ending up developing very similar tanks, the M1 and the Leopard 2 (you can guess what gun won in the end)

What. Are you talking about the T-64 or the MBT/KPz? T-64 is Soviet, the MBT is American and the KPz is German. The MBT/KPz was a joint project between the US and Germany, so they look the same because they basically are the same. Not quite the same, but basically the same.

Warthunder has officially ruined the game 6.0+ I love My M26 vs Tiger II Hs T54s and IS6s which I can't penetrate in any way shape or form except for APCR which doesn't work half the time, And now the only thing that gave allies a chance (CAS) to turn the tide of being spawn trapped every game, has become 100% useless and has been taken over by OP meinenshoß rounds with 2000lbs worth of bombs. (FW190Ds)/(109Ks) Don't bother arguing with me because all those who do are clearly GER and RU spammers who can win the game with their eyes closed and only use RU251s/IS6s and Panther IIs ( you know who you are) Congrats they turned a just about playable game into an impossible one.
Grinzlow RU is still overperforming, and GER is still underperforming. Stats show that GER+RU combo teams are dominating everyone while GER+Allied and GER+JP teams are losing to RU teams and allied teams respectively. The IS6 is punishing 7.0 teams everywhere right now. German and Japanese teams are a fucking meme.
If you didn't already know, now rockets are shittier than actuall tank shells, if M26 went lower than 6.3 it would cause havoc on tigers and lower tier tanks. I do not own any premium tanks so that you don't think, you're just a salty kiddo who wants the cake for only himself.

LeToplache007 you've clearly never used a M26 it's basically a T25 but bigger. An SU85 can penetrate the front. M4A3E2 is useless I've had a RU 85mm go through the front plate at 147 mm of penetration. It disgusts me how s*** they make allies seeing as guess what we won the war....... you are a typical GER player who gets everything patched and hotfixed in his favour.
It's really funny that the 20mm ammo on the autocannon, when detonated, can blow up the entire tank, this basically means if your spam artillery or get a lucky HE shot on the 20mm gun, you can almost guarantee a kill, that or just shoot the place where the ammo is located, only protected by 30mm or so of armor.
I'm actually loving this modernized version of War Thunder. Much more accurate to the changing face of warfare at least. Speed, mobility and positioning count for a lot more than just armour. I just hope late-war tanks don't face these post-war machines. It nicely positions the huge leap in technology from 1944 cranked or electric turrets to gyrostabilized barrels and ridiculous penetration values that laughs at passive armour. There could even be a huge meta shift so players with superior positioning and reflexes can take out entire flanks in a minute from incredible ranges away. Who knows, would be a great experience.
The only thing I'd change about the tank, is make the cannons length longer. I just like long-barreled cannons because they feel derpy, and fun to play with, lol.
This tank was added to world of tanks blitz nearly 1 month ago. And no, no saying either is better or worse than another because they are optimized for different things. However, anything wargaming made but with the name BLITZ is mobile formats and can also be played on pc devices. The stats of it in blitz are stupendously great! I am not much of a warthunder player (since I don't have time to play at home, only games while I'm away from home) but it seems like an awesome tank here too!

Speaking about monsters, i really want to see a War Thunder - The Witcher combo. So i can use my Leopard 2 for monster hunting. How cool is it to use your thermal to spot incoming dragon? or to spot giant spiders in a foggy swamp? Not to mention you can always use your ESS if you have to retreat from a swarm of monsters.
I think they did wrong by adding the T-64 and MBT/Kpz70 before adding the tanks in between them and the pre-1.71 BR8.3, things like Leo 1A3, M60A3, etc...
This thing is still competitive against higher teir MBTs (yes I know this video came out before the type 90, Abrams, and the leopard 2 came into the game)

Take out the Chieftain Mk 10 , with it's impenetrable turret (seriously, the MBT-70 can't pen the turret front with any ammo it has)

Only the Kpz-70 is supposed to be armed with a 120 mm smooth bore. The reason the us and Germany ended up canceling the project was the difference in gun and engine choice, ending up developing very similar tanks, the M1 and the Leopard 2 (you can guess what gun won in the end)

the Kpz-70 used a 120mm. yes the 120mm was mounted, the tests show that it was working great. it was the 152mm that was causing issues though in testing

What. Are you talking about the T-64 or the MBT/KPz? T-64 is Soviet, the MBT is American and the KPz is German. The MBT/KPz was a joint project between the US and Germany, so they look the same because they basically are the same. Not quite the same, but basically the same.

Warthunder has officially ruined the game 6.0+ I love My M26 vs Tiger II Hs T54s and IS6s which I can't penetrate in any way shape or form except for APCR which doesn't work half the time, And now the only thing that gave allies a chance (CAS) to turn the tide of being spawn trapped every game, has become 100% useless and has been taken over by OP meinenshoß rounds with 2000lbs worth of bombs. (FW190Ds)/(109Ks)

Congrats they turned a just about playable game into an impossible one.
Grinzlow RU is still overperforming, and GER is still underperforming. Stats show that GER+RU combo teams are dominating everyone while GER+Allied and GER+JP teams are losing to RU teams and allied teams respectively. The IS6 is punishing 7.0 teams everywhere right now. German and Japanese teams are a fucking meme.
If you didn't already know, now rockets are shittier than actuall tank shells, if M26 went lower than 6.3 it would cause havoc on tigers and lower tier tanks. I do not own any premium tanks so that you don't think, you're just a salty kiddo who wants the cake for only himself.

LeToplache007 you've clearly never used a M26 it's basically a T25 but bigger. An SU85 can penetrate the front. M4A3E2 is useless I've had a RU 85mm go through the front plate at 147 mm of penetration. It disgusts me how s*** they make allies seeing as guess what we won the war....... you are a typical GER player who gets everything patched and hotfixed in his favour.

It's really funny that the 20mm ammo on the autocannon, when detonated, can blow up the entire tank, this basically means if your spam artillery or get a lucky HE shot on the 20mm gun, you can almost guarantee a kill, that or just shoot the place where the ammo is located, only protected by 30mm or so of armor.
I'm actually loving this modernized version of War Thunder. Much more accurate to the changing face of warfare at least. Speed, mobility and positioning count for a lot more than just armour. I just hope late-war tanks don't face these post-war machines.
It nicely positions the huge leap in technology from 1944 cranked or electric turrets to gyrostabilized barrels and ridiculous penetration values that laughs at passive armour. There could even be a huge meta shift so players with superior positioning and reflexes can take out entire flanks in a minute from incredible ranges away.
Who knows, would be a great experience.
The only thing I'd change about the tank, is make the cannons length longer. I just like long-barreled cannons because they feel derpy, and fun to play with, lol.

This tank was added to world of tanks blitz nearly 1 month ago. And no, no saying either is better or worse than another because they are optimized for different things. However, anything wargaming made but with the name BLITZ is mobile formats and can also be played on pc devices. The stats of it in blitz are stupendously great! I am not much of a warthunder player (since I don't have time to play at home, only games while I'm away from home) but it seems like an awesome tank here too!

Speaking about monsters, i really want to see a War Thunder - The Witcher combo. So i can use my Leopard 2 for monster hunting. How cool is it to use your thermal to spot incoming dragon? or to spot giant spiders in a foggy swamp? Not to mention you can always use your ESS if you have to retreat from a swarm of monsters.

I think they did wrong by adding the T-64 and MBT/Kpz70 before adding the tanks in between them and the pre-1.71 BR8.3, things like Leo 1A3, M60A3, etc...
