  • Testing both .177” (non-FAC) and .22” (at various FAC power levels) for expansion on perpendicular impact with water; contents at the start.
First I weigh random batches of ten pellets from each tin to get an average, then chrono them to determine velocity & power levels…
.177” JSB Hades bought from J.S. Ramsbottom: www.jsramsbott...
.22” JSB Hades kindly obtained from Claire West, MD of Air Arms (at this year’s BSS).
R2A Chrono from Blackpool Air Rifles: www.airgunbuye...
Pellet scales bought from Amazon (www.amazon.co....)
…Then downstairs into the kitchen to test-fire them vertically (down) into a bucket of water.
I initially messed-up and the bucket sprung a leak (no, not from a pellet impact), so after repairing the bucket I started again.
I mention having watched three existing cool UA-cam video reviews of the Hades pellets…
@Ted’s HoldOver: • "Starling Anchors" - J... (also includes Hades fired at different FAC velocities)
    @AirgunGearShow: • Hades .177 - Hunting P...
@Air Rifle Pest Control: • The JSB Three - Compar... (includes fun testing against various items)

Really like your vids Russ being disabled myself they are a real inspiration so much so I’ve got off my arse (minor miracle in its self)and purchased myself a Weihrauch HW97KT stainless steel in .177 a monthish ago I’ve also applied to join a local gun club but because of the present malarkey they’re closed, luckily I have access to a safe private space to shoot I find time flys and the process of loading ,aiming and shooting are so relaxing very therapeutic for my body and mind so thank you muchness and keep up the excellent and honest content.🙏🏼👍

@@RussDouglas222 I'm just getting back into the air rifle scene after about 10yrs away and it's surprising how much things have moved on is there anywhere other than the Facebook group's to have a chinwag on things

@@alex79buckland Nice one, yep certainly - have a look in my latest video's description, there you'll find links to the UK NV forum (and the brand new ThermalHuntingForum.com), plus the Airgun Forum -which obviously has loads of Airgun chat as well as having a NV section.
There's also the Airgun BBS, but it doesn't seem to keep as current as these for NV developments(?) which I'm enjoying learning about and using, plus I simply don't have time to watch / post everywhere.

Great review on the Hades pellets. Am thinking of getting some for my S410f. 177 ones .... Funny what happened with the bucket. Messy .. Take care x

Thanks Nat, aye I'm all about an honest review so even as my shoulders slumped with resignation when I realised the bucket was leaking, I knew I'd leave that in so you all know the facts.
I'm hoping to be out this afternoon with the Hades-equipped Wildcat, targeting a few more rats in my friend's back garden, gotta protect those chickens!

good video Russ . My wife is on two crutches and they make handy coercion tools when she wants something ha ha .
Hopefully we can get back to normalish in scotland soon and get back out shooting . Take care Russ.

Hahaha thanks Paul. Aye mine are handy for light switches six feet away and being a gentleman opening doors.
I restarted my pest control activities ten days ago up here (after emailing then phoning the Police to check), but have to call 101 beforehand, give all the details and get a reference number, then call back when I get home to "close the incident".
...a slight faff each but time a lot better than not getting out shooting though.
      Cheers. Russ

@@RussDouglas222 as I said before i have to call the Mod police to tell them in on site on one permission so its not to bad but its not a 101 call which is a pain in the bum due to the time waiting to speak to them on 101. Not been out at my permissions due to either distance or the landowner being in their 80s and I dont want to get them in any health incidents at present but hopefully get out to one permission soon .
      take care

Have you done accuracy and grouping tests with your FX rifles well any of your rifles with different head sizes on the pellets? I bought multiple head sizes in 177 and 22 in the same type and brand pellets year's ago and I was surprised at how head sizes affected the accuracy and how certain rifles like a certain type of pellet and head size over other types

Not yet Alex, another topic on the to-do list, but I kinda need range access to do that and our (GARC) range is open limited hours this year. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I listen to what other folk find works, and I get decent groups I think 'if it ain't broke'...

Interesting, going by that they are not expanding in sub 12ftlb. What are they like for accuracy russ

Not expanding much sub-12 Garry, no.
Accuracy-wise I'll test the .177" @25m and the .22" @50m -ASAP. Though I have to wait a few weeks yet for my new FAC baby. 🙄🤤🤤🤤

Interesting review mate. When I shot to my .177 Hades into water, I did it at a slight angle and in it bent on one side. I didn't get any deformation in water with the .177 but I did in other materials in such as ballistic gel and that dough I made.
I wonder if there is not enough surface tension in the water for the smaller calibre to deform on impact?
Nice results overall - almost as nice your your shoes behind you! 😂
Well thought through mate. Although I have to confess, I laughed at your misfortune with the buckets. 😂😂
Thanks for the back link!! 🌍
      Stay safe mate. 👍

Hades do mushroom and flatten nicely in my pathfinder .22 cal. Sub 12 so I can't understand why people are saying sub 12 doesn't provide enough punch for them to expand or flatten .
