  • The University of Oregon Chamber Choir performs a unique setting of four traditional spirituals, featuring an improvised solo from Alexa McCuen. Paul John Rudoi, who accompanies the singers on tambourine, arranged the music.
The title track "Yonder Come Day" comes from the unique culture of the Georgia Sea Islands (off the coast of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida), which was a waypoint for slave ships carrying slaves from Africa to America. It is our hope that this performance honors the memory of all those who suffered under the horrors of the slave trade, and against unimaginable odds managed to transform their anguish into the inspirational music that still speaks to us today.
