    I once cleared it from 75 yards in under a minute with a single shot muzzle loading pistol, in the dark, with my eyes closed, while in the middle of a severe thunderstorm and a tornado near by, with my back to the target, with my eyes closed, while little kids threw grape fruit at me and I was filthy stinking drunk!! and to top it all off, I don't even drink.

    I do dot torture amolst every other range trip. Seldom do I not clear it at 3 yards, but I can't consistently clear it at 4 yards yet

    Glad you recovered from the 'vid. Hopefully no long term issues or damage. If just a few days being down should be good to go until the next infection. Had it at least twice so far.

    I can usually clear at 3 yards, but it's amazing how much an extra yard will throw you off. I do need to get back to the range and get some practice in.

    Oh man, you’ve got me dying of anticipation on the ear pro! Hopefully you did some indoor tests with them as well (though I don’t have high hopes for any in-ear ear pro for indoor shooting).

    I practice dot torture @ 3&7yds when I wanna pound my head on the ground. I’m an iron sights guy. It’s not easy. I also practice with my laser lyte pistol. 8 gets me every time . This is an awesome drill.

    Shot Dot Torture in a TLG class years ago and embarrassed myself greatly. Practiced the fundamentals a lot after that class. About a year later I shot it in a Dave Spaulding class and cleaned it

    What website do you get the target from? We did this on our range and it sucks...humbling for sure! But, in all fairness, this was taken from haley strategic and they use glocks for their pistols, we use Sig P229 w/ DAK triggers.

    I talked to my son last night and asked if they ever used this in the military, he said he tried it once, he stuck the paper on a tank and shot it with his javelin during training and he thinks he did good but wasn't sure because he couldn't find he paper afterwards.

      @@ASPextra I've been doing the "dot torture" for a long time and I really did ask him that question and he knew what it was and that honestly was his smart #%^ reply. I know he blew up more than one tank in training. He did not like the javelin all that much because it just was heavy, the at4 was lighter he had access to, and trained with both, and for all I know he has used one or both in combat he doesn't tell me anything. but in his mos the idea is to not be seen and not to engage unless everything goes to heck and you have no other choice.

    I've never tried to clear it, as I've never put forth the effort into weak hand shooting... yet. Those 2" circles make an excellent paper full of targets though! I use them for practicing accuracy with my j-frames, as my limited capacity means I better not be missing. I can keep it inside them at 7 yards (10 on a good day) as long as I remember my offset like you mention (snubby sights can be a little off depending on the specific load).
    If anyone ever makes a red dot for a snubby, I think I get way farther, because that short of a sight radius and iron sights is asking a lot for 2" circles at even 10 yards.

    I know this sounds crazy Neil but I decided I hate myself and started doing this with 1-1 1/2 inch circles 🤯 I found these random orange circle stickers a while back and started using those for the fit torture. If I’ve got customers or students I use the 2 inch, it’s hard enough for everybody Lol I can never remember, where can post my results on Facebook Neil?? I know, you’ve told me a hundred times haha 😂 I just don’t get on Facebook that much, other than ASP it’s just filled with mostly garbage nowadays

    I don't shoot this nearly enough. I've never come close to clearing it. I'm usually thrilled with something in the high 30s. Still refining my grip.
    I definitely need to suck less. Ugh.

    I don't think one should ever slow down their draw during live fire practice. Draw like the dude showed you his ear. Take more time on your aiming and trigger control as necessary to guarantee hits? Sure. The faster your draw, the more time you will have to aim though.
    Dry practice is the place to carve deep the efficient neural pathways at whatever pace you prefer.
    Good shooting. Glad you're feeling better.

    • @neilweidner9361
      @neilweidner9361 2 роки тому

      I’d say that really depends. If a person has a janky draw, speed might be covering some of the inefficiency’s. Doing some deep practice at a slower speed can help as well. Over all I’m not saying your wrong but from time to time I think it’s ok to slow down to re-engage those circuits

    • @parabellum3205
      @parabellum3205 2 роки тому

      @@neilweidner9361
      I agree that occasionally practicing the draw at a slower pace, in order to more easily identify and eliminate inefficiencies, can be beneficial. I just believe that dry practice (or under instruction in a formal class where the instructor can observe and correct) are the better times and places for that. I know that there isn't a time standard in traditional Dot Torture, but I've seen multiple good shooters develop the bad habit of slowing down their draw during accuracy/precision focused drills for no other reason than the target is smaller or farther away. As long as we don't let that happen while we're trying to achieve high standards at speed, then there's no problem. In general, the less time you spend drawing and presenting the gun, the more time you will have for sights and trigger. As I'm sure you know, Instructors like Scott Jedlinski do a great job of explaining that principle.
