    Hi Sorin! Don't underestimate the theory. It is very useful to us. To the people who have not studied electrical engineering we are very helpful. Please continue with the theory too. For example, I did not know that at full short the power supply will show 0 volts and at partial short will show 2 - 3 volts. The theory and schemes you draw are very useful to me. Greetings from Bulgaria.

      Just be sure to limit your power supply to 2 amps otherwise you'd melt the partial short

    another outstanding video Sorin! you give us insight to your troubleshooting methods and a good understanding of what we see when we take time to look.. I thank you for all of the time you take for us not only on these you tube videos but on discord also plus the various other platform you are on.. You will live on long after you are gone because all of the kids here will carry your shared knowledge down the years.. and who know who they will pass it to... as spock used to say "live long and prosper" Sorin!

    Initial my school laptop costed 700€: i7, 16GB Ram, 940 graphic card 2GB, 500GB HDD 128GB SSD.
    The hinge broke down and my screen acted funny. I started to diagnose and figured out putting pressure on my screen/ screen chip at the bottom made it go away. but came back after a while.
    So I first repaired the hinge with 3 small bolts. And then changed the screen for 100€. I also changed my HDD with 500GB SSD Samsung EVO. Glad to do it because a new computer would cost me 1000€+ for a decent one. In total I wasted 200€ so 700+200 = 900€. Build up experience and also always had my laptop available for school.
    Mostly this is because of people like you sir. Made me realize nothing to be afraid of and just analyse and repair carefully.

    referring to the things you pointed out at the start of the video, i used to fix computers from a very young age , not really know what i was doing theoretically , but i knew that if i did "thins thing" on "the other thing" things would work again (i read and watched many sources online and videos like yours XD) , but my customers and ALL customers in my country ... think that are always right , demand of warranty like 100+ years , and sometimes they even tell you how to fix the things when they have no idea about them, i remember that once i literally explained to someone for half an hour about his iPod that had a cracked screen and how i could not find an original screen for it because the model was way to old for the local part suppliers to have Original parts in stock and the customer just said to me "well since you cant find original parts for it then you are not a good repair guy!" .. and what do you expect from a guy fixing things at home .... of course they went to the trusted apple reseller and they got a straight big NO , and when returned they got a big NO from me also ... then shortly after i quit self learning electronics and changed my career plans , now it looks like i am starting to like it again thanks to this channel , maybe i will start self teaching again soon as a hobby , and i hope that the people changed and can understand better now :)

    I would also like you to explain to me what a coil (inductor) is. How it works. Whether it increases the voltage or can only reduce it. I'm aware of a tansformer but not of pulse power supplies . Can you bring a little clarity on this to us beginners. Thanks! Sorry for my English (Google Translate) (I watched your videos for beginners. there you explain how two mosfets close and open with 300,000 hertz and from there the coil makes a high voltage, but unfortunately I can't understand it)

  • @DanielsGameVault
    @DanielsGameVault 5 років тому

    You should go a little more in depth about those input FETs and how they actually operate, instead of simply treating them like switches. I for one, to my shame, although I fix laptops myself, still cannot wrap my head around how they work and how they "act". There's both P and N channel types in there which also have body diodes in them, further confusing the way they operate. Can't figure out what the gate needs to switch the D-S junction on/off.... A look at an actual schematic for any laptop would be great to illustrate this. Cheers !

  • @daanvanniekerk7146
    @daanvanniekerk7146 5 років тому

    Why don’t. You have to use a lower testvoltage on the second mosfet to detect that there is an short? If a switching mosfet from power supply (from for example the cpu) is also blown and permantly giving power than the cpu receives this 19v voltage also. Or am I wrong some where in this case? can anyone explain
