At the end of the day, you are teaching ADVANCED motherboard repair. If people dont have the tools, dont know about electronics, or just dont know what that are doing - they shouldn't be attempting a repair. If you have a car fault, would they try and repair the engine after seeing an ADVANCED car repair video?,no they wouldn't. You produce videos that show real world repairs including everything that goes wrong and unexpected. They are a real help to alot of people but you cant be responsible for the actions of every subsciber or viewer who may attempt to repair a device with no prior knowledge. You are not being rude, you are being realistic and shouldn't feel bad whatsoever. Keep producing the videos as there are many advance repair techs such as myself who learn something new from every video!
You are head and shoulders above other online "techs" that show you how to rip a laptop apart and swap parts. You actually teach us how to troubleshoot and repair problems.
Please don't let the absolute beginners discourage you from doing these wonderful videos that are completely invaluable. I have been watching a marathon of your videos the last 2 weeks, and I have learned much more in the last 2 weeks from you than I have the last year looking at do it yourself instructions.
Thanks for the hard work that you do in creating these videos, and kudos to your boss for letting you do this on his/her time. They are quite smart, because I am sure that this has brought you some business.

I was an auto mechanic for 35 years before becoming disabled, and worked on automotive computers for 25 years after that. I consider myself a novice in the world of electronics, even though I was quite proficient with automotive computers.
I know enough to know that you know what you are doing and talking about, and if I continue to watch, I can learn from you. If something goes wrong, I am smart enough to acknowledge that I must have done something wrong especially if I saw you work on the same problem with the same laptop. It's far too easy for the noobs who have more ego than experience to dive in and get over their head and then they want to blame others when they step in a huge pile of crap up to their necks.
In all of my years turning wrenches, I made plenty of mistakes; but I would own them, not shift the blame on my instructors in tech school.
Please keep teaching us how to do these repairs. I've already put some of your videos to good use.
No reason for you to feel disappointed with yourself Sorin, you do fantastic work and provide all the video's and teaching for free, i'm sure everyone (well nearly everyone, lol) appreciates all the time and effort you put in to provide us with the best repair channel on the net. I have always found that you go out of your way to help anytime i have a question so many, many thanks for that.

Just forget about the noobs and let them learn from their mistakes, continue making your videos, the number of people that learn from your way of doing things is way greater than those who blow up components.

Hello, Sorin. Firstly, I am a big fan of this channel. I know people have said the same kind of things that are in this over long post of mine, but wanted to tell my honest opinion.
I have a small off time repair shop for fixing just basic computer hardware/software issues, but I am a novice with electronics. You have taught me so much more about electronics in just a few months than I have ever learned in years working with computers.
I am grateful that you are giving your hard learned knowledge for free and I believe most of us feel the same way. From my point of view you are explaining things in a very good manner and in a way that is fun and interesting to watch.
I am sorry to hear that you are feeling sad because of people being ignorant and giving you hard time. I don´t want to be rude to anyone, but if someone chooses to use a power supply all over the place in a motherboard without knowing what is what, that is their own choice and fault and definitely not yours. At least I have not heard you say to do anything remotely close to that in any of your videos.
As a solution with random emails, I am sorry that I can´t think anything that would help you. Only thing I can offer is a point of view, and that is this:
It is damn near impossible to satisfy all the people from the interwebz and you should not worry about it that much. :)
If emails are starting to take up too much of your free time, maybe you should not answer to them at all and just concentrate on the videos. I know this sounds a bit harsh and many will disagree with it. Trust me it´s not something that I would myself even want, but I believe everyone with a common sense will understand, that everybody has to have their right for free time. You are putting a lot of effort and knowledge to these videos alone.
So to wrap up this long rant. A big thank you for your great videos and keep up the good work!
PS. I am ordering my first linear power supply soon and starting to troubleshoot some motherboards. I will definitely not put the probes anywhere I feel like and I will watch all of your motherboard repair videos and take notes before doing anything. Don´t worry, I will start with broken boards first and if I brake something, that is my fault and I might even learn something from the mistakes. :)

You are the best, if some people think are repairing job that so easy and they fall in mistakes is not because of you, not at all, because they didn't take caution and without perivous knowlege about basics of electronics. Firstly, thank you for the service you're providing us.
Secondly, 48,000 people don't believe you're doing anything wrong.
Thirdly, you are seeing a cross-section of the population that represents a mostly-random sampling. You're going to get all kinds. I don't think you should read too much into what people are saying. You're an expert at what you do. A lot of comments are from people who aren't willing to invest the time required to be experts at anything.
Lastly, your time is VALUABLE. Don't give the trolls more of it than they deserve.

So I know a "lot" about PC's, now I am learning motherboard repairs with your videos, I look how you work and try to repeat it. Of course with the basic understanding of electronics,resistors, how to use a multimeter etc. And I can tell you that your videos are helpful! Don't mind the hundreds who break their stuff because they don't know anything about it. Care about the thousands who know a bit and don't make risky decisions, who use your videos to learn something. Thank you for those videos!
Sorin, Marcus Arelius, in his writing, spoke of the understanding he would need each day, at the failings of men (in the larger world). In this modern world, you reach across half a world to my desk where I observe expert repair, to the complex laptop you so well describe and troubleshoot. And, quite learn from that lesson. We have to be careful what we say Sorin.. Repairs that seem pretty straight forward for us can very easily be destroyed by folk who with the best intentions
have no experience around micro electronics. Many are surprised that even just probing an IC you can kill it with an accidental short with a multimeter probe.
Like you I always try to be informative and help others where I can. However I will also add that if guys are to try the things I suggest, It will be at their own risk.. I don't want to
get the blame when things go POP! :)

The fact that power button is broken is very predictable.
PC did not startup, so user pressed and pressed, and pressed, untill he had broken the power button.

Hehe :P During 2-3 months, I think I watched over 100 videos on elec. repairs, Ohms law's, schematics, phones, bios programing, tools necessary to understand how this works, what NOT to do to blow up components, etc. Still I know I could damage my board and it is my choice because I want to learn... "How to put amps on the board" that's a surprising question when you explain so well what to do! So first, thank you so much for taking YOUR time to share YOUR job, YOUR money time to make those videos for people like me. You are a very generous person. I am definately a fan! Nonsense questions are never meant an answer. Thanks for sharing your hard earned knowledge that most people don't want to share. I already tested some of your methods and it really work well just know the symptoms and you will never get lost during isolation.

you can teach us but you can't control what or how we learn. don't stress on others wrong doings, take it as a natural feedback and just comment on the next video "this just happened... don't do this" and thats it, you have done your part.

there are a few concepts that the beginner needs to read up on and experiment with .transistor diode capacitor mosfet inductor zenner diode and power supplies....from then on they can start to deal with some more advanced stuff and know a bit about what is going on ....oh then more practical stuff like testing with multimeter and soldering...very good stuff...i learn a lot every time.
Sorin, Sir please do not feel bad if some people make mistake and mess up. It is not your responsibility. You have many videos which cover many aspects of repair, electronics, the repair business, and how to approach a problem. You videos are unique - they are not just fixing thing, it is style professors use so that students learn. I am your student. For many many years I was looking for such an opportunity to learn the practical aspects of electronics and I am glad I found your videos. Your videos are full of knowledge and because of that I subscribed to your channel. I watch many videos, yours as well as others before venturing to do any repair, because it is possible I can mess up. In fact I messed up a power supply (had ripped the power cable from its plastic holder which became useless) while trying to repair a Power Station Jumpstarter about which I had no knowledge. However, I could use the same components (the connection sockets), and tested with a 15 yrs old multi-meter, which I had never used before prior to proceeding further to troubleshoot. recently I broke a P-trap pipe joint (the one under the bathroom sink) while trying to open it for troubleshooting. I saw it was glued and thought to apply more pressure to loosen joint. However, it was going in the wrong direction; was actually tightening and broke the threads - it happens and I was responsible for this failure and I am responsible to fix it; and fixed it. You are teaching us lot of things free. We are indebted to you for your time and your honest and selfless teaching. Please keep it up.

The one thing I also picked up on what he said was about putting the power supply onto the motherboard and using it as a multimeter and end up blowing the board up such as someone sticking 19 volts into it
One thing I have took away from the many of this chaos videos is if you going to inject voltage to see what current it's drawing or tondo the petrol test to see what's cooking is to use a low voltage like 1 volt as he's done many times on his repairs it lessens the risk of frying components instantly
Have a laptop with the same issue as this one in the video chatting light is on but won't turn on not bothered to get all the needed tools yet as I don't really do much in repairs now a days and the investment in equipment just doesn't seem worth it if only doing a small handful of repairs
So I stick to basic repairs now like fan replacements hard disk replacements anything that can be taken out and replaced in minutes
When I found your site a few monthss ago I was and I still am a greenhorn ( newbie ), but I listen to what you say and watch what you do, a person got to go at their own pace and that also depends if you are electronically incline, which I am working hard on learning, I repaired one tv. and broke one but live and learn I kick myself If I make a big boo-boo, don't blame yourself for your watcher's mistakes it's up to them to go a little slower and they will arrive at the top of the hill eventually.

Ive had basic lessons about electronics...but whatever I've learnt on youtube is far far more than what i learnt in school.
I do not know if you read these comment so far after the fact.. But this is also a school for the beginner.. I was and still am a beginner.. But you have taught me how things are configured what is what.. I have learned what a mosfet is and a supper IO and all the other components through other videos... and you show me how they combine to do the job they are meant to do here.. You have also taught me to use a power supply in my diagnoses.. (BUT you are not responsible for people's stupidity..) even I know as a beginner, one.. that I do not know, two... to be careful, three.. to pay attention.. I have learned by watching you what can be done and what should not be done I have watch about 1/3 of your videos and have yet to work on a board.. I feel confident.. and I test my knowledge by watching and trying to guess what it is you will test and how you will test it.. By trying to figure the fault before we start.. I have a board here and I follow along and look and watch learn slowly and surely.. in this world these days I find people are not willing to put in the time to learn or know.. they learn a little then they are the experts.. 6 months I have been watching.. I feel confident I can troubleshoot small problems and soon I will get a broken laptop and try my knowledge I study hard your lessons, I watch diligently and follow your thought process.. I am 68 and was in my life a master carpenter and I know well how an expert can make things look easy that are not.. So do not get depressed nor despondent when fools do not understand this fact and jump into something they really know nothing about.. you area good teacher (one of the best I have seen in my life) So you carry on those of us that are serious about learning will learn.. we may also use other videos to explain what mosfets are or resistors or diodes.. But we come here to see how all of these things come together.. and how to find and fix what is wrong.... Sorry didn't mean to write a whole book here.. I just wanted to encourage you to keep going because we who want to know are learning.. thanks Sorin you do very good work!

Don't feel bad Sorin, you explain very well. You can't help it that people are ignorant and lazy and don't take time to learn before they randomly destroy stuff. Hopefully they will understand at some point, you are doing a great job. I learned from just a few videos about the 19v, 5v, 3.3v, 1.35v, 1v just by your videos. I have a lot of questions about some board I saw hundreds of volts on after a coil but I keep trying to look and understand before I just start to put in random voltages or amps on random spots. Keep them coming :)
I dont think the name is wrong. You do what you can. Trust me it is helping. It may be advanced Sorin. And I am a beginner. But what I learn from you is great. I dont have a powersupply. So the power I use is the original power. Test the power supply. To make sure it works. Then start at the power in and follow it. When you lose the power. I think you are in the area of the problem. Correct?
Sure I could make one from ATX pc powersupply. But if you can use the original powersupply to test. Then im ok with it.

Some time i also use power supply to check circuits. It needs to be well aware of how electronic things work. its not for beginners. What you do is very practical and easy way to do it

I'm sorry you are not happy with some of the work you are doing, or that is what I understand of your comment. I think it does not matter how simple or useless a repair may look like, is another learning experience for those of us who do not have your expertise. Thank you very much for all your great videos and instruction on fixing laptops. By the way, I have the same laptop (CQ61 with power light on, but nothing else, and another CQ60 with a similar problem.

Some people think you know everything and every fault in the world, they dont want to think logically or learn selective methods of testing, they are selfish and want everything easy.

I guess this is an old video, cause ive seen sorin teach to beginners. Im an absolute beginner, and proud of it. Im no stupid so i try to keep up. Buth there is nothing wrong in being a beginner. Its wrong no to get the proper equipment tough. I dont have a power supply yet its very expensive where i live. So im into building one with sorings course on building one. But until then im enjoying his videos. And learning some stuff in the way.
LOL, Man. I haven't watch all you stuff yet. but some and this episode is the funniest so far. love it. I repair equipment too. but different type. some have PCBs some don't. I get costumer calling me asking me to walk them through repairing their equipment which otherwise would be a service call for me where I make my living. what would you do in that circumstance?
57:03 It's not always that easy. I learnt electronics in college for 5 years, and after that, I could barely make my own circuits, not to mention fixing RTV or customer hardware. But now I'm learning electronics from the Internet, from watching people like you, how _they_ fix stuff, and I'm learning much more this way, and much faster. If I don't understand something, I look things up, unless I can't find any info about it (which is quite common with computers, because the producers don't release technical documentations to the wide public, only to their authorized services), then I ask people. I tend to learn from the masters of the trade, like you, because those people know the _practical_ stuff, not just some dry textbook theory. So now I'm pretty good with digital electronics, I can program microcontrollers, I built my own simple 8-bit computer from 74xx family chips etc. But laptops and cellphones are whole another level, because they're mainly SMD or even BGA. So even if I know the "classic" TTL/CMOS stuff, there's still a lot to learn in order to work with modern electronics. I bought my first hot air gun only recently, fried some chips during desoldering, damaged the tracks etc. But that's how we learn, don't we? We make mistakes and learn from them. With every mistake, we get better. Now I already fixed a couple of laptops thanks to your tutorials, but only the simplest ones yet, that didn't require any soldering on the motherboard. Another problem is money. It took me some time before I could afford all the tools. I was building my workshop for almost 3 years :q And I still don't have all the tools I'd like to have, e.g. a proper oscilloscope, or a microscope, because they're too expensive for me. I don't give up, though. What I like about your tutorials is that you don't seem to be using very advanced, expensive tools. You show how to get things done with simpler, cheaper ones, and it's surprisingly successful.
Next time someone emails you regarding repairing their laptop first ask them if they own a multi meter,trust me most of your problems will be solved.

I would suggest that you get a magnetic mate and a soft pad under the edge of your countertop
due to how you scratched the casing of this laptop by rolling screws on the table you make a lot of mistakes but you do not just mistake what does not do anything

IMHO I.T. guys should NEVER open any Electronics... I have seem them blow things that make you so WHAT WERE YOU THINKING... Stick to Software and HARDWARE install. :) ( NO OFFENSE TO THE I.T. FAMILY)

I would say your gripe about people who know nothing about electronics trying to repair electronics, is somewhat like me asking a motor mechanic in an "E-Mail" about the oval shaped thingy, between the 2 large gears, opposite the large shaft that has the arms on it, below the small cylindrical shaped housing, inside the engine, if that was scratched, would it make a difference in how much petrol gets pumped into the carburettor???
And THAT dear friends, is why I get a motor mechanic to repair any car problems 👍👍👍
My biggest pet peeve, is customers "Insisting" on me giving them a quote over the telephone without having seen what is wrong to start off with.
As in..... "Come on, you MUST have some idea of how much it's going to cost, I mean, I did give you an exact diagnosis of what is wrong. If you are ANY good at what you do, you'd be able to quote me over the phone".......
To which I reply "How long is a piece of string".
To which they respond by putting the phone down in my ear and I lose the work 🤷🤷🤷
I just say I charge $70.00/hr plus parts. ;)
@@medicfour9268 That doesn't help. It's among the first things I tell them, Hourly Rate and then whatever the cost of the materials will be, but some people just don't understand

Hi sir, I am an electronics student and in my university they do not teach us pratical things like repairing ... so when I watch your videos I understand what you say and do but when I try it by myself I cannot because I do not know where to start in the motherboard I've never tried to fix one, so I ask you please if you could do a video to show step by step where to start and why ? how do you jump from a place to another and if you can use the datasheet one time for a beginner because on the board it is hard to trace the circuit diagram. And I have a question : I do not understand when and why use a powersupply ? how do you know that there is a short by reading the amps ?
If there is any Link, Books anything that could help I will be very gratefull.

Yes, you are an advance school without schematics. Exactly what and where I am but for newbies no. I use my power supply all the time but with caution and understanding. Finding shorts with a power supply is a common practice in the field so I say dont worry about the negative people. They dont get it...

yes @perrynbecky i agree , he is a very high level , but does not hide behind flash tools and bullshit . Just pure electronics and a real moral sense of sharing knowledge,
