Years ago I sent a message here asking for you guys come to Brazil. I listen to dai for 15 years and I never thought that years later I would see you guys live. My favorite japanese band of all time! It will be an unforgettable day. You cannot image how greatful I am :)
Wow. I really REALLY hated the Uzumaki movie, I thought it totally butchered the plot and characters of the manga... but *this theme song.* It's just. It's really good. I love this song.
Chell Hemens yeah, but compared to the other two movies he made, Uzumaki was his best. The downside is that this was made before the manga was completed. Though I would love to see uzumaki as a Netflix anime. And I'd totally would make it, and actually make it as close as I could to the manga. Imagine seeing that shit animated. Like either make one season a different Junji Ito manga. That would be one of the most epically disturbing series on Netflix.
It's a shame too because the manga gave the movie so much potential. So many things they put in the movie that were so scary in the manga (ex. the jump-scare kid) just fell flat or omitted what made it work in the manga. If it was given to the right director it would be great. Ito's work deserves better movie treatments.

I saw this movie on the Sundance channel around 2002-2004,... it was a very strange experience, and in a very good way. Props to it for leading me to read the wonderfully drawn manga!
Come to think of it, this, Tangerine Dream, Summer Days and Shinjitsu no Uta has always been my favorite DAI songs... takes me right back to junior and senior years of highschool...man.. can't believe it's going to be a whole decade next year since I graduated... Listening to this though, makes me remember it like it was only yesterday.. Time, why you no slow down?!?!?!
Nagao Dai's early interviews would mention Radiohead as an influence. I think it really comes through here in that riff that starts at 0:16, kinda vaguely like Airbag from OK Computer.
It's mostly the older Radiohead, like The Bends and Pablo Honey sound. You can find examples of it in the first two DAI albums, Break Of Dawn and New World. The DoAs song "Snail" for example has a killer riff that's reminiscent of "Just" from The Bends. I'm sure there's more. I also hear influences from The Corrs in a few songs like "Ai No Uta" (from True Song) and "Remember The Hill" (a b-side found on Do The B-Side and the Boukenshatachi single). This is supported by the fact that a lot of Nagao Dai's post-DoAs output has been influenced by Celtic Folk rock, because you can hear it in projects like Aria Asia (where they straight up covered "Toss The Feathers" by The Corrs), and Sword of the Far East(another violin-meets-rock project).
That's so interesting, I'm gonna listen more patiently to DoAs songs and know what other songs are related to them. Also, I'll hear the other bands that you mentioned(Aria Asia, Sword of the Far East). I love Radiohaed and Do As Infinity! Thank you for the information!!! :)
It's been 15 years now, Uzumaki Anime Adaptation has released, after I listened this song from the live action film, its stuck in my head like a spiral of a loop 🌀
I listened to some newer Do As Infinity albums and he plays much better now and can certainly solo. Up till now I had only listened to their first album which lacks any kind of proper solo.

Does anyone know DAI song darker than this? I happen to remember there's one that sound so gloomy & felt so heavy & dark for the rhythm/melody, but the video being made with contrast to that, like using white color background, contradict to raven which being used as a horror movie themed, but somehow it got its own excitement to hear the melody

Discovered this from the horror movie Uzumaki. Had never heard Jpop before this. Incredible song and a perfect fit for the weird ending of the movie.
