Hey Martin. Has anyone tried to use the 8k X for software development, that is, sitting in front of virtual computer screens and programming for 8h? I'm always wondering whether there is a way around investing into the non-portable real-estate like screens. Are you aware of a virtual office, where I could find my personal documents in a virtual ring binder, rather than some cryptic file name on Google drive? Thank you!
@@adrenalinejunkie3828 I think its noticeable. I noticed 72 hz on my quest to 80hz to my Rift S to 90hz on my Index. The 90hz is obviously ideal. After 90hz I feel its more just better for competitive play but not detrimental to the experience. 80hz is perfectly fine for anything not competitive. 72 is really... like ok but will give me the illusion of sometimes the system dropping frames when its not in fast paced games so not ideal.
@ 24:30 he couldnt get the IPD dialed in. same issue with many with the 5K+ and 8K, I hope this is not the case but it sounds like some folks will have issues with the "eye strain" on the 8KX as well, sad Pimax didnt fix this

As you touched on, high resolution is more important to simulator pilots than any other genre. Simulation also seems to have the highest adoption rate for VR so we are a good market to focus on right now. We need to spot and identify aircraft and ground vehicles from as far away as possible, and we are constantly looking at small text labeling switches and instruments that are sometimes quite far away.
Wish you would bring this out to California San Diego area!!! I want to try out that DCS, and IL-2 Greatest Battles! I have the Rift CV1 and would like to upgrade to a 8KX if I could ever try it out! Great question. He mentioned not having SteamVR Video running too high and my experience with SteamVR Video settings is of a similar nature. Run it near SteamVR Video recommendation but then crank up the App resolution instead. Doing it this way I find I get better performance for a given final Target Resolution. @sweviver - would you be able to get Matthew to give some basic insights to this? His spreadsheet was confusing with regards as to what to tweak for optimal settings.

LOL I thought the whole idea of PiTool and SteamVR was to keep things simple for the end user and deliver to the the user optimal settings for VR games based on hardware configurations..... At the moment though - even with a year of experimenting - it feels like I would be better served finding a witch in a mountain cave somewhere to give me the recipe for best visual settings for games in VR. ))
The issue with Amazon is the chunk they take out of merchants margins and why Pimax is charging $100 more for 8K and 5K+ on Amazon. The return policy is nice for customers but can be a rental program for the merchant.
When will we get the Vive controllers and base stations that we paid for and why are you selling anything when you can not deliver what is purchased. Can you please ask for info.

Yes as DocCube says, Pimax is saying they will ship the X around March/April but we all know there's a good chance that might get pushed back! I sure hope not though, I'm dying to get it. The 8K+ has already shipped out to most people according to Pimax but now we are into the Chinese New Year so it will be weeks (five weeks or so I think maybe?) before shipping resumes.
ill wait till the pimax 8kx costs 999 and has inside out tracking, till then i cant afford it...also...i need to wait for the foveated dynamic rendering to even think about it considering the performance i get in prepar3d or xplane already with the HP Reverb. Also the EU customs make me stay away from Pimax, i need to be able to return it and be sure customs are not charge me 30% more...

They are using RTX 2080ti's and the reprts are that it's fine but more is always better ;)
