Glad these are easier to get (or seemingly easier to get) then when the WWE MOTU figures were released. Though i did get them from a reseller on walmart and then immediatley after they were available from BBTS for like $10 less but oh well. I really like these figures and am liking a lot of the accessories and can't wait to mix and match them with my MOTU origins and WWE motu figures as well.
great review Dan, I do think it was a missed opportunity on mattels part to have the pegs on the shell shield extended a little so they could still plug onto the turtles backs , but other then that I'm loving the look of this line
Great review! I am surprised it took you this long to get them tho! Most reviewers have em already, I was expecting you to be the 1st to get them. Looking forward to your wave 2 review
I think this line is worth it for the packaging alone. In my opinion they NAILED the art work on these boxes, even if you are unsure about these guys you can't deny the pop on these!
The armorless turtles body shape reminds me of the Japanese super turtle line maybe we will get that using those bodies. The motu line looks great so far
Very cool to see and I hope they sell well. I am one of those kids who never mixed toy lines during play... The She-Ra toys did not play with the Skipper and Stacie (Barbie's little sisters) toys or ride the Breyer horses!! So this line just doesn't work for me, but I'm weird. However, I'd read the comic, if they did that!
Artist Freddie Williams made the Batman/TMNT crossovers, as well as MotU/Thundercats and MotU/Injustice. There was a project for DC to publish a MotU/TMNT miniseries but it fell through, so Mattel called him to be the minicomic artist for this collection.
I love how these look! The villains are more powerful, the heroes are corrupted, and one of my favorite childhood franchises has brand new looks. This line makes me so happy ❤
I actually really love the mutated heroes. I wish He-Man had gotten a mutated looking sword rather than the spiky club, but that's a small complaint. I love the fact that there is a storyline, and obviously they are going to turn the heroes back to the side of good. So I really hope that we will be getting heroic turtle style versions of the mutated heroes as well. I think a He-Man with turtle armor would be amazing. Ram-Man is my favorite, so far, and I want a turtle armor heroic Ram-Man.
Like you said I never thought I’d see the day where this would be a thing! These are my 2 favorite toy franchises as well. I like the card/box art and mini comic. I’ll probably just cherry pick and get some of my favorites
Agreed on Man-At-Arms, he was probably my least anticipated figure from the wave but in-hand he's amazing! I've combined him with parts from the regular origins version as well as Snake Armor MAA to make sort of a hybrid. Solid figure!
I've been a fan of He-Man since the 5th grade. while it may not be as long a time as how long you have been, I share the enthusiasm and interest. and I admittedly do slightly favor the Turtles, but that's simply because I've known the Turtles since I was 3, and I've known He-Man since I was 11. I was hyped for the comic that didnt make it, but what's great is Freddie E. Williams II, the artist for that comic, is the artist for these minicomics! and it means a lot to me that Mattel's making a story out of this, not just because I'd like to adapt it, but mostly because that's how this whole thing should've gone. and what's great is they included my favorite artist: Freddie. I've been waiting for this toyline, and while I wish it was like Super high quality (yknow like something in between the Masterverse range and the Hot Toys if they were 1/12 scale range) it is perfect. It'll go along well with the MOTU Origins figures I already have, and will look even better with my future MOTU Origins figures. so Thank You Mattel for making these figures, and Thank you Pixel Dan for reviewing them also YOU'RE RIGHT I MEAN I GET COPYRIGHTING BUT IT WAS SUCH A MISSED OPPORTUNITY HIS NAME WOULD BE MUCH BETTER AS MOUSE-TRAP. IDC WHAT HE'S PACKAGED AS, THAT'S WHAT I'M CALLING HIM!
I have, I’ve been waiting for these. I wish playmates did them. The origins options are fun, but I love the playmates figure style for turtles. Plus as a Motu fan, it would of been cool to have a playmates heman!
I will definitely be getting them all if possible. Note that Man-At-Arms' feet are also new & 2-toed like a Foot Soldier's. I was told that He-Man's arms are reuse from André the Giant which is why they're so big
I've already bought Leo, and I think he's great! I will probably be getting Ram Man, He-Man, and Sla'ker. I didn't get the Turtles Man-of-Arms, because I bought the Classic Cartoon version. I'm waiting to see how Teela and Splinter turn out for this toy line. Otherwise, when are we getting the animated movie?!?
I don’t need these (in fact I’m still hoping to complete WWEternia-only 4 away), but I’m glad fans like you have it and I’m glad to see the toys and story.
I am only going to get core ones and some of the others if I think they are cool. Got Heman Leo and Don today at target and mouser, passed on man at arms.
I really love the turtles designs. And man at arms…. I was most excited for trap jaw but when I saw it in hand I couldn’t pull the trigger. I was way more excited for the turtles which I didn’t expect at all but I just love the colors and designs of Leo and Donnie
It’s very good Mattel always delivers quality and all their toys. How about a Motu x transformer line. You could have he-man transforming into attack track and skeletor into Roton.
I love how the TMNT line of toys is full of weird body gimmicks (storage shells, head dropping, mutations) but across the board reviewers of this line are like “taking off their shells and using as a shield isn’t natural.” 😂😂😂
I wonder if _one_ of the Turtles in a forthcoming wave will include the shell peg hole on back? Due to the modular nature you could then have a more typical Turtle, of course you would need to buy multiple of that one in order to then build the four Turtles all in their basic form, with shells. I just wonder what other toylines could end up being massed together. So many possibilities, where to start and what would be the easiest ones to do. It all depends on what media or toy companies have good working relationships.
Personally, i am a big fan of the Mutant He-Man design because they went the extra mile with details like the new armor & headsculpt, bigger arms and the spiked bracelets and belt. So? If the build a figure would be exclusive to deluxe. That would make me think that, this baf is exclusive to Target. I can’t remember anyone that was built through different stores. That being said , does each store get different baf?
It'd be cool if Battle Cat & Panthor got some mutagen on them. I think it'd be a huge missed opportunity if they didn't anthropomorphize some of the MOTU animals... Maybe a "Mondo Moaty" figure.
I hope they put out more mousers. I would love to army build a few mousers but I don't want to buy the main figure just for the little guy. making He-man a villain is a way to keep things balanced, but i do think we will be getting a heroic version of He-Man in the last wave. Wouldn't be the first character to be repeated, since we have Raph as Ram man and also a mutated Ram man, and obviously, two of the turtles are He-Man themed

MOTU always nails artwork!!
Thanks for going over the comic. I got some from Amazon and they are selling the international figure. That comic has no words in it.
You know a toy line featuring both MOTU and TMNT is doomed when Pixel Dan’s enthusiasm for it barely registers on the Richter scale

Great collection! Go He-Ninja, go!

Also Dan Mattel Creations on their UA-cam & Facebook have stop motion animation showing more of the story. Like Trap Jaw being mutated into Mouse Jaw
