if anyone was watching I think ABC when Reagan died, they played this theme as the plane took off for California with his casket, it was the most beautiful thing in the world
This score is one of my all-time favorites! Notable others are, 'Dave', 'Stanley & Iris', 'Field of Dreams' and my #1 most romantic score of all time is - 'Somewhere In Time' composed by the late John Barry. Simply breathtaking! Always enjoyed the works of Marc Shaiman, James Horner, John Barry, James Newton Howard, John Williams, Randy Newman et al. Such great talent!
one of the greatest of film theme scores.. the idealism & gravitas..among other aspects..of the american presidency are beautifully conveyed in this piece..nice
I somehow think that this score it written by Thomas Newman everytime I listen to it. but its not. but the orchestration is very Newman-esque (sounds like Shawshank here and there) - anyway good work by Shaiman!
great music, great movie, great acting by michael douglas, annette bening and martin sheen... but specially great acting by MICHAEL J. FOX!! he played Lewis very well.. but he played health man for years!! so he played two roles in one moment.. and i think that is amazing!!! sorry for my english
There was a West Wing Episode called "The Stormy Present" where Bartlett attended the funeral for a former president. Another former democratic president, played by James Cromwell, accompanied him to the funeral on Air Force One. I always thought that it would have been cool if Michael Douglas could have reprised his role as Matt Shepard, his character from this movie in addition to Cromwell's character. It would have been the perfect tie in.
I have listened to this music score so many times I can't begin to tell you how many. It is such a beautiful, powerful and sentimental music piece that I would think anyone couldn't help falling in love with it. I sure have, and the movie as well ! Thank you for such a wonderful and inspiring music piece !
Thanks for post it. Is only a movie but i hope will be a Hope to everyone to have a President like that man. My english don t allow to write better. Sorry I wish for all of you a real new year Renato
Bradley Whitford & Amanda Peet in "The Network President"! LOL! j/k Brad & Amanda co-starred in Aaron Sorkin's "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" as Daniel "Danny" Tripp(Executive Producer) and his love interest/boss Jordan McDeere(President; NBS).
It does the same to me especially in for forefront of the movie as the past Presidents are being shown. It makes me long for the days when the Constitution was actually respected, which it won't be long before it is re-instituted AGAIN...ANY DAY NOW!!!
@nurseforsure1 What a profound idea! I think I'll have it put on my phone's answering machine. Those that really want to talk to me will hear one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Telemarketers will hang up long before it's over.
@airdriver that would have been cool but it wouldn't have fit in the West Wing universe because Martin Sheen played Sheppards chief of staff--which would have been awkward -- that aside, however, that would have been pretty awesome
@chrisbrown456 I fully concur with you sir I love this most powerful of themes songs it`s my favorite and it gives me a sense of well being and strengthens my good emotions.
Watched this film last night for about the 10th time. It’s just a great movie, but realized for the first time what an incredible score it has.

“Ron Paul: A New Hope ad” brought me here.
This always reminds me of Soarin' Over California!
As it should it’s used in the soarin line background loop.
i think this is the music they play when you are waiting in line for Soaring over California at Disney's California Adventure
One of my all time favorite movie soundtrack finishing pieces. This and “The Final Game” from Rudy.

The visual pause on the thoughtful portrait of JFK brought a tear to my eye.
This is the fucking Soaring theme LOL I heard it on the the TV in the living room and was super confused to see this movie instead
this is probably one of the best movie theme songs made in the past 25 years
