Old boat shafts and big rebar work too. If you find the cable pulls out of the first generation, crimp it in a loop and get the crimp down in the concrete. That will never slip
Gentleman! Although I LOVE your idea and Highly recommend it, have you thought about "cheep" sources of lead? I'm a mechanic. My store creates (ball park) from 80 to 100 lbs of used lead wheel weighs. They scrap guy pays a PENNY A POUND for "scrap" lead. What about scrap batteries (auto)? 60 lbs of lead in a big one, but only worth a $6 core charge!! That's 10 cents a pound for used car battery lead (use caution, acid and all. But if the battery is drained, a box of baking soda turns what's left in to water). Scrap lead goes for 1 cent a pound at the scrap yard I can tell you that! Try buying lead From the scrap yard. Anyhoo, great idea! :-)
So you said you lose 2/3 leads every time you go fishing! So now by using this method you’re going to throw 2/3 pieces of pipe into the ocean. In my opinion if you find a construction site and ask for pieces of rebar that would be thrown away any way would be cheaper and you would not litter the ocean with plastic.
@@MovinWeightFishing What you could do is get some paper towel rolls as molds and either remove them after they dry or leave them on because they are biodegradable or wrapping paper roll tubes will work as well
@@MovinWeightFishing or u could just cut the piping around the cement it should be one long piece of concrete like a pillar an no plastic but that rebar idea is ur best bet
Guess we're lucky here in galveston. Ive been using window weights for 15 years. And still able to get em pretty easy. Already have a hole in the end too
you can save on pipe to cut on the length of the pipe and then put a piece of tape on the length and tie with soft black wire , when dry you loose the wire stick a screwdriver in the cut and push the cement block out it is advisable to put some wire to strength the cement cylinder you can make it in lead also go to tire change shop they have loads of old tire weight you can buy cheaply from them i use them on making molded bullet and fish weight being doing it for the past 30 years ciao from italy
As usual, great video. If you take a pair of pliers and put a sleeve crimp on each end of the wire it won't pull out, and you can use whatever length of wire you want.
Use a food release in the pipe like Pam and it should pop out so you aren't putting the PVC in the ocean and you can use them over and over. May need to put some pieces of like chicken wire or may chopped fiberglass in the concrete to keep it from falling apart though.
Brush your dog or clean your own hair brush and use that. They used to reinforce plaster with horse and pig hair. Same concept and totally eco friendly. After all, we have plastic washing up on our beaches, not hairballs, right?
Yeah 🇺🇸TRUMP🇺🇸 GOOD KID !!❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸 Look on Facebook marketplace for a battery or a corded saws all probably can pick one up for 10 bucks you can do all that cutting the whole two tubes in five minutes good job Adam way to go I’d like your ingenuity!! Bend the wire in a circle and twisted together and put the twisted part down in the concrete then the wire will not pull out! I’m also thinking that if you bought the quick dry concrete mix with the stone in it not mortar mix concrete you might end up with a heavier mix so you could possibly cut the size down to like 12 inches????
@@MovinWeightFishing I love to watch your videos from your side and from Vic and a lot of the other fishermen on the Internet don’t have the excitement that you have and that’s great you need to get your captains license and your own boat and you need to take first timers out! AND ME OF COURSE❤️🇺🇸
@@MovinWeightFishing i did the math and it makes it too expensive. I mean you could just get some scrap steel but still probably cheaper to do concrete
If you looped the wire through a washer it wouldn't move out of that. You could also create a form out of some wood and coat it in a concrete release agent, or line it with parchment paper or tin foil or something like that so that you have a reusable form and there would be zero chance of losing your weight and leaving plastic in the ocean that way. Food for thought. Plus you would save the money on pvc pipes if you don't use any. Scrap wood is free.
I usually use 1.5" rebar. Or you could pour the pvc as one big piece with an open end and put through holes through the concrete. Using the pvc just for the pour, not to go onto the ocean
Drill a hole through the plastic pipe and crimp a piece of that cable through the holes..next time tie a loop in the cable before you pour the concrete.
Or you can put a pvc with a cap in a bucket of ice to prevent melting. The. Pour molten lead into it. My friend used to do that to make a jug weight to mark spots they were about to dive. I found a place near me that sells pure soft lead for .95 cents a pound. Concrete is naturally brittle so cracking over time and pulling the wire insert out is going to be a problem.
To make it environmentally friendly, just split the tubes lengthways before filling them. When dry, put a screwdriver in the crack and break out the “sinker”…no plastic left in the sea
Adam...next time get "sand mix" (green in the label) and if you add some plaster of Paris to the mix it will dry super fast.....not kidding! Sand mix has no aggregate (rocks).
