Deacon Blue - Dignity Reaction
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 сер 2024
- In this video we're listening to another Deacon Blue tune. To be honest, we barely have a memory of the last song we tried out. We will remedy that after the video. Still, we are super excited to hear more from these guys. Enjoy!

The two singers fell in love and been married for about 34 years and still going strong, with grown up kids and still writing music. I find that so endearing
Love this song so much, as a Scottish person it gets me in the feels
The two singers, Ricky Ross and Lorraine MacIntosh married in 1990. Still together
Oh yes, Deacon Blue. Love this.Takes me right back to the 80s. Another 80s track by a scottish band that stands the test of time is the amazing "Labour Of Love " by Hue and Cry. And, right at the end of the 80s, Cuddly Toy by Roachford just HAS to be heard.
Im from glasgow and ive worked for the council for 20 years..
I'm glad you played this from there debut album" Raintown "it's not the original version but or maybe it is. Reminds me so much of being 17 back 88. Ricky Ross is a underrated songwriter." Chocolate girl " is a great song from the same album one of my favourite Scottish bands which ruled my ears back then Big country, skids, Altered images, simple minds. Just realised its a live version still Great
We did a reaction to Chocolate Girl, go check it out!
Happy (belated) New Year guys - I'm only just catching up after an awful couple of weeks of family illness! Anyway, this is another fine song to follow 'Chocolate Girl' which you featured last year and tells the tale of a man finding and keeping dignity. I'd say this particular video doesn't show the band at their absolute best which is a shame as they were usually excellent live. If you fancy another of theirs I'd suggest a live version of "Real Gone Kid."
Happy Belated New Year to you too. I hope your family is feeling better now. We will add your request. Take Care.
Deacon Blue - 'I was Right And You Were Wrong'... a fantastic atmospheric song. 😎
A very good band. I only have a knowledge of their hits but I appreciate their music
I think he was used to an instant response from a Scottish crowd who knew the song, but this is a TV show being recorded in London and the crowd didn't expect the sudden ending.
On paper this is a long way from being their biggest hit... but EVERYBODY in Scotland knows this one, it's like our alternative national anthem (well, one of them along with "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)".
Maybe we'll get a big country song by chance
We know I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) by the Proclaimers
@@hanierfamily Have you had to walk 500 miles? Were you then forced to walk a further 500 miles?
You could be entitled to compensation, call the Pro Claimers now!
@@Sandy-dd4le lol that's funny!
@@hanierfamily its a very old Internet meme, i like to shoehorn it into relevant discussions whenever possible!
Set it up set it up again, IE he's into a sesh, telling all who'd listen he's more than the eye meets, he has plans, ambitions, and one day he'll be watching others working and they'll be jealous of him with his ship/dingy, dignity.
I was seriously getting into House music when this came out, so I didn't give it or the band much attention at the time. It's only decades later that i realised they were actually a pretty decent band.
You can't have everything, where would you put it?
This is still a favourite in Glasgow and surrounding areas in pubs and karaoke
Another great Scottish band
You can’t get all the lyrics cis he’s singing in his native Scot’s accent ✊
👍🏴
Queen Of The New Year by Deacon Blue is great
Always go for the official video for a first watch, this is a variation of the original song.
We had a sense this was a live performance. Is that it?
@@hanierfamily try the official video, it's a bit more upbeat and up tempo than this
@@thesoupdragon112 i agree, this didn't do it justice at all really
Deacon Blue have got so many great songs
Lead singer Ricky Ross is from my home town dundee scotland
Mmmm ! Yep ! Fair to middling ! Always found Deacon Blue " a bit Gin and Tonic without the Gin" ! If you Follow ! One Scottish Band that have more Gin in their Tonic ,is "Runrig" Proper brill live tracks such as "Dance called America" "Loch Lomond" to mention a few !! some of their songs are in Ghallic which sounds angelic !!! Cheers !
If you like this also try Fergus sings the blues and Real gone kid , proper Scot’s band
👍🏴
we did Real Gone Kid. We will add the other one to our list
Unfortunate choice of video guys, not them at their best at all, I'd add my vote to Malcolm's below for 'Real Gone Kid' - studio version this time ??
Hi guys. Just subscribed. Deacon blue are so underrated . Best regards from Glasgow Scotland UK 🇬🇧 . If you give a thumbs up you will get so many more viewers. Good luck. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Did you ever get to try Joe Jackson Im the Man... , Cheers guy enjoying the reactions, its interesting from this side of the pond. keep going x
not yet but it's on the list
Brilliant!
Shame you didn`t listen to the studio version , so much better.
They were bigger in the late 80's.
Hey 80s another good band
With todays cost of living crisis, that hard working man in his shit job that nobody else wants who saved his money could really only afford to buy a raft, not a ship.
Why don't you make my telephone ring another song by deacon blue
Has to be real gone kid next by these!
Scottish singers singing in Scottish/English can be difficult to understand fully. I'm fairly fluent as I live 50 miles from the Scottish border.
Sorry…….what did you say?
Not your fault guys, I am surprised this is off their site as it's probably the worst version of this nice song I've heard. I'm not sure who was doing the sound mixing but it was awful as was the arrangement. Glad you discovered them though,, they are a great band with nice music.
Guaranteed floor filler In Scotland 👌
ok you askt what is this song about its based on a true story about the little green boggy a street sweeper from maryhill in glasgow he saved up 27 years of wages and got a boat and saild up and down the cost of scotland one of the best bands to come out of glasgow and there has been more than you two think easy with the coments the harmony between the singers is real good.
This song is wasted on you guys 😂
You two must understand how big this band was and still are in the uk and around the world the two singers are married to one another and have children great band live need to find more live deacon blue but i must repeat deacon blue are a much loved band even if you in usa dont know much about them
We're from Canada.
