- Today we dive into a new artist, Scottish Pop/Rock Band
DEACON BLUE "Real Gone Kid". Released as the first single on October 3, 1988 off their second studio album WHEN THE WORLD KNOWS YOUR NAME. The single was the bands first top 10 hit in the UK ! In Spain the tune peaked at #1 for 3 weeks !
What Do Ya'll Think ?!
Great choice! Great band, and great memories brought back, THANKS!
There was a group of bands around this time that really put out great sophisticated pop.
The Go-Betweens, Aztec Camera, Everything But The Girl, Lloyd Coke & The Commotions, Prefab Sprout & Deacon Blue.
Made me glad to be alive.
This song is pure infectious pop euphoria. And Ty is right, it doesn't age.
I didn't think a reaction channel could show me something I hadn't already seen from a band I love, but you have. Thanks! I had never seen this video or a live version before. They sound just like the album. Brilliant.
Wow. 80s girl who didn’t know this song! Sooooo many great UK bands that kind of stopped coming over here around that time. The end of the Second British Wave for us. Still great songs/bands, but they weren’t releasing records here or touring. So sad.
So many great UK 🇬🇧 bands for sure! I just love this song, had to play it for Ty ! 😎
You need to their song called Dignity. One of the greatest songs ever
Agreed 😎 Raintown was such a Fab album, I listened to it constantly in 1987
@@reactionextraction Find a live version of Dignity if you're gonna react (no idea if you have already). Audience participation is off the scale....
Great reaction again guys ❤ If we're talking Deacon Blue then 'dignity' is a must, I may be in the minority here but it's (imo) one the best songs ever to come out of the UK ( or Scotland to be more specific, I'm from Scotland so I had to say it 😋 )
Off topic but Gerry Ginnamon is fantastic too, Glasgow boy without a record deal but can fill a stadium with 30k+ people. Wonderful music.
❤️ Scotland 🎵 🤘🏼💯
Seen Deacon Blue live in concert so many times over the years when they've played here in Dundee (Ricky's home city too). They always put on a great show.
Love This Band 😎❤️😎
Thanks for this reaction 🏴
Thx Ryan 😎 Deacon Blue 🏴 are legends in my book 😎🤟🏼
Dignity is my favourite, in Glasgow any club will be bouncing when it comes on.
That’s Rad, love it 😎👍🏼
Very underrated this band the name is a clue of their influences and they don’t come much better than Steely Dan
Yes 😎 have always loved Deacon Blue and Ricky Ross / Lorraine McIntosh. Their Vibe is way cool !! Underrated band 😎
one of my favourite songs, Ricky Ross the lead singer wrote this abour Mariah McKee
Classic Scottish band makes ye proud to be Scottish. Check oot Jerry Cinnamon live at transmit festival Glasgow one man and he commands the audience never seen anything like it in me life. Fantastic. Aw the best Mac.
Yes l love Deacon Blue, great vibe and long career. Somehow I found them here in America in the 80's ..... Hello from Texas !! Shout Out to Scottish 🏴 Bands !
@@reactionextraction Braw Pal. Texas is a cool State seem to keep things real and independent and don’t take nay BS !! Scottish bands am biased but for a few. Big country. This band from the kingdom Of Fife. The only kingdom in a kingdom. Fact. !! And that’s where I’m from in a wee village that produces whiskey. More Scottish 80s bands Altered images. Jesus and Mary chain. The Proclaimer’s. Primal scream. Texas. Very good but not obvious bands which are a start. Aw the best to oor Texan cousins Mac.
I remember back in the day when Deacon Blue split the drummer (Dougie Vipond) became a tv sports presenter and i thought how weird to see Dougie doing that kinda stuff...fast forward to today and i find it weird that Dougie Vipond was the drummer of one of Scotland best bands...ain't life weird.
Lorraine McIntosh has the most beautiful voice.
God. This dad knows.
Deacon Blue one of my all time Fav Bands 😎 Way Underrated
@@reactionextraction They were never seen as 'cool' over here, so they never really had the success they maybe should've had, but they have built a very loyal fanbase across the world. Good to know they made it to a little part of Texas too....
I think those 2 lead singers are still married
That’s Cool 😎
Yes, Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh are still married, they've been married 32 years and have 4 children !! Ricky's from Dundee, Lorraine from Glasgow.
The band name comes from the Steely Dan song "Deacon Blues".
Saw them late 80s/early 90s in Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield (x2) and London.
Check out run rig
Check out Glasgows musicians Gerry Rafferty paolo nutini fratellis Travis Amy macdonald primal scream Decon blue Gerry cinnamon lulu many more.
