- Just a warning: This interview contains some coarse language.
Comedian @NatsWhatIReckon's war on jar sauce went viral at the start of the COVID pandemic.
He joins Courtney Act in the kitchen to share a meal, along with his thoughts on religious dogma, mental health struggles, and losing half a lung.

Best ambassador for mental health awareness and what you can do when you find your power. Loved this interview.
So much respect to you Nat. What you’re sharing with the world is positivity, endurance and kindness.
As someone who suffers from anxiety and depression, but also considered fairly high functioning, Nat is right about how its one of the better feelings to let people know about what your going through rather then letting it consume you from inside. And it brought tears to my eyes about hearing how hes also suffered through it but found an avenue to get it out. Nat is a true treasure to this world
This man is EVERYTHING, we need to protect him with all our country has.
I'm just like him. I'm not protected. No one cares.
Yes please. We love him in the US too.
@@michaelfeast9869 l care mate, l care 🤗
If he is not up for Australian of the year then there is something wrong. He has probably helped more people than will ever be known. He is a true champ.
@@TheThailightZone he won't get Australian of the Year. He not a sportsman or an academic. But I respect what he's doing. Keep doing it!
What a beautiful interview. Courtney Act is such a warm and thoughtful interviewer! And Nat... what an icon for mental health and all round excellent human. I grew up in the church and struggle in similar ways. So grateful to have heard more of Nat’s story!
Sending you and Nat a big hug. Also grew up in the church so I know the feels.
the struggle Nat is going through with this interview is so genuine, shows no matter how good you may appear we all have our moments.
good on you Nat
If you're wondering what bay leaves do, no one has any idea. That line was golden lol.
Wonderful conversation between 2 very warm and genuine people. Thank you for being vulnerable and contributing towards a more inclusive and enriching world for us all.
Aw man, I just want to give Nat a huge hug.. it’s heartbreaking to see the pain in his face when he speaks of his struggles with depression. Courtney did a great job interviewing 🥰
Two beautiful people inside and out! Love ya Nat and Courtney! What a great interview. I would be happy to have a sit down chat with either of you! Both national treasures as far as I am concerned! :D
Courtney is our 'national trinket'.
National treasures? That's a bit of a stretch
A surprisingly good interview. Nice one, Nat is a top bloke
I thought he was the bloke?
@@x161x they both are blokes lol
@@H-D1 ... one of them may be a man on some ascertained level, (their business), but is most definitely not a ''bloke'' in their expression.
Hearing Nat talk about being a teenager was like hearing my own life playing back at me. I really needed that.
This whole video is the "My Sister And I Are Polar Opposites" meme and I love it. Great cooking duo.
It's nice to know the history behind the face/personality you get presented with, in Nat's case, on UA-cam. Thanks for the show.
Read his book, he goes further into it, n it’s a bloody good book!
I understand what he means about religious guilt. I used to pray for my relatives and friends to be safe at night, and if I accidentally left one out I was genuinely worried (and guilty) that something awful might happen. No one told me that was how it worked, that was just my childish understanding of it all. It's all a bit ironic because it is supposed to be about love but somehow it gets messed up and focuses on guilt and fear.
Amazing interview, I love how open Nat is about his mental health struggles and going against macho bro culture. We need more people like you Nat
loved this interview, sad we didn't get to hear what nat thought of the noodles 😂😂💛
I was just about to comment this, the world needs to know what nat thought!! 😂😂
What an all around good guy. I love his videos. His honesty is refreshing . His relationship with Jules is so cute to watch as well. He deserves every bit of success he has !
Thank you so much for being you, Nat. Thank you so much for getting vulnerable and putting that out there. You’re a great example of a good person.
I liked Nat before ... but now I am completely full of admiration for a fair dinkum bloke who works hard at improving himself and as a consequence, the world around him. Well done Courtney Act for this insight.
I just watched this interview again after probably a year. I think a bunch of my friends need to watch it too. It didn't make me cry but I understand anxiety and depression. Nat has decided to kind of take it on the road and deliver the message so softly. I adore him!
Such a lovely interview! Absolutely loved Cortney’s style of interviewing! Like a calm thoughtful conversation of two friends. No pressure, both listening carefully and respectfully. Nat is my absolute fave champion! Please stay on your mission! The world needs you! Lots of love from the UK!
Oh man , hearing Nat talk about his trauma in his head is fears of doing something wrong , due to church life as a kid, is like what I'm experiencing. It messes you up
Church didn't mess you up- sin did. Repent, come to Jesus, find forgiveness, live a holy life, and you'll find peace, joy and eternal life.
Was my childhood and life too, and you can use this experience for good, because you are good. Sin is a concept, made up by weird people who wrote things in a desert when drugs were legal. Don't let anyone control you, trust your gut and you'll be fine.
@@bobisu3111
Sin is as real as hell and the crucifixion and the divine authority God’s Word which will judge us all for eternity
@@alexanderjosephross are you serious? Can you not try and project your religion here? It's fine that you believe in that, but some people don't and have bad experiences with religion. Please remove your insensitive comment

The truth hurts sometimes
After work on Friday, me and two other truck drivers were having a chat in the car park after a 13 hour day for all of us. I mentioned that my mental health was down during the week and how great Lifeline was when i called a few years ago. I started something. I said if you need cry it is ok. One of the blokes just let it all out. He just had bottled up his mental health. I got his mobile phone and put the Lifeline number in it. I called him on Saturday and he was so thankful for giving him permission to let it out.
Honest and insightful. I work in Mental Health and have used Nat as a role model in my work. People relate to no BS approach.
I'm approaching my 56th birthday, I've no tats or piercings so I'd probably look out of place hanging out with Nat and Jules. But, if they were ever in Ireland I'd love to meet them for a beer or whatever. Apart from being really decent people, they seem like they'd be great company, or as we say in Ireland, great craic. Keep on keeping on Nat! And thank you, you helped me through last year.
Love this dude. Watch his vids, bought his book..Happy for his success!
Came here to watch something funny to distract myself during a minute of having a tough time because of a song i heard playing outside which reminded me of having my heart broken. Saw two of my favourite people interviewing and got a beautiful interview addressing mental health. Thanks. You really helped me today and you're both inspirations.
That was absolutely delightful. Love both of you, and that interview had such depth and gentleness. Definitely what i needed on a chilly Wednesday morning
Awesome combo, love Courtney & Nat. Both are national treasures that need to be celebrated. More Nats and Courtneys!
Courtney is our national trinket
Awesome interview showing a lovely tenderness and beautiful humanity. Loved it!!!
Omg I had no idea what a lovely man he is! Courtney Act was an awesome interviewer. This was pretty moving.
two genuinely nice people. I'd be happy to share a meal with either of them.
Nice interview. Me and my mates loved Nats videos during lockdown, hilarious and helpful during surreal times. Cheers from Liverpool 🙂
I absolutely adore you two! Thank you for opening up Nat, I was all welled up for most of the video. Thank you for helping those with mental health struggles.
I love how honest this man is 🌼💗🌼 I bet they are a terrific couple 💗💗 great interview, really lovely balance to it 💗
"Having that behaviour offers you more opportunities to be happy"... 2 weeks ago I thought Nat was a funny, sweary guy I'd seen on Instagram, doing cooking videos, but he is so much more and that sentence is just perfection (dare I say "chef's kiss"?)
I'd also never heard of Courtney Act, but what a brilliant interview
Thank you both for making me feel so uplifted
Totally identify with how difficult it was growing up in the Hills if you didn't fit a certain mould and/or you had mental health issues. From the outside the Hills looks this suburban ideal but for many of us it's just hell inscribed in red brick. Really great to see someone who is just a good bloke do so well.
Such a great interview. So much respect and admiration for Nat. Keep up the great work champion
So comforting to watch a couple of wonderful humans have an honest chat. Many thanks to you both.
I love Nat so much! My hubby is in home hospice and I've been watching his videos for laughs to get me through. After a week long depression at 12AM he inspired me to get back down into my kitchen and whip up a homemade fresh pasta and a nice oat milk latte. It's my favorite thing to do and it was nice to feel proud and like I made something so joyful and comforting that I can share later with my sweet hubby.
Bloody love your work Nat (& Jules!). Giving Kudos to the strong women around ya for helping you be a good bloke and not part of the 'Bro zone layer'! Rad shizz. You're a tops role model for fellas out there.
Loved this. Thankyou Courtney and Nat.
Nat calls his viewers champions. He's a utter legend. He's honesty openess and raw. Thank you mate.
really enjoyed this. Amazing interview, amazing people.
What an amazing interview. Thank you to you both.
that was so amazing. both are lovely people.
God Nat, everything you just said just resonated with me, thank you take care and keep fighting the good fight. Also Courtney, that was a great interview, to let Nat open like that and to give him the opportunity to is a great thing.
Courtney is a terrific interviewer and Nat is lovely and funny and real. Best 1/2 hour I’ve spent in a while.
Loving this interview💕💞💞
I have been following Nat's videos since lickdown started I think, but I really feel that this interview has shown me a glimpse behind the "jar-sauce strop"😉 ...thanks both Nat & Courtney, much appreciated
This was a very genuine interview. Good on you both for the honesty. 👍👍🇺🇸
Such a great conversation between two great young Australians ...
Loved this interview so much! I, like many people, discovered Nat during the early COVID cooking shows and I’ve been a fan ever since. Thanks Courtney for your insightful conversation that allowed Nat to share his life’s story. Truly fantastic.
Read his book!
@@Rainbowgrrl I have and it was great 😊

Crying tears of happiness. Heartfelt gorgeous man energy blowing shit out of our broken past. Yay men and women being awesone!! And ppl healing! ❤❤
SUCH a good interview, Nat is a star and an inspiration, I was a fan before, and ten times more so now....
Love Nats Success. Found his channel during our Vic's lockdown.. made me laugh til my abs( that are well and truly are hidden) hurt. Read his book, laughter and tears while reading. Went to one of his shows in melb with a mate and my mate said I was super loud with laughter lol such a great Aussie bloke. And having Jules behind the camera but seeing her and hearing her in his Vids is wonderful. Keep doing what you're doing Nat. I am here. Thank you so much for everything especially the laughter
The world needs more Nats. And Courtneys. But especially Nats.
Nat is a True Champion sharing his life to everyone to inspire those going through Mental Health struggle that he’s like us! 🙌
I love you Nat! Thank you for sharing this so courageously.
Thanks Nat. My son introduced me to your UA-cam. You make me laugh and your noises in the kitchen remind me of my son. Love your cooking vids. You have come a long way be proud of that.
I love how they completely ignore the fact that Courtney had her own UA-cam vegan cooking show and that they even did a long-distance cooking colab on Nat's channel while Courtney was at her flat in London 😹
@White hammer 🤙
Kudos to you mate! Absolutely love your videos and always look forward to watching your videos. Thankyou you your hard work and keep it up!!
Beautiful man blushed talking about the first Date 😊💞
The best pod casts I have seen. Well done
5:30 Exactly Courtney, he has broken down some of these Western barriers where we put people into boxes then apply a common set of stereotypes. Good interview. Nat you are way stronger than those who appear to have it all together.
Absolute legend. And Ur a doll Courtney, love ur work darl. Thoroughly enjoyed that half hour
It takes a lot of guts to talk about your life experiences. I admire you Nat
Two of my favorite entertainers ever in the same room and on the same screen together is ALL. THE. THINGS! Thank you so much for this video!! I love you Courtney and Nat ❤️
This was absolutely brilliant. I love the honesty that Nat has to speak about himself. He came across very well and has nothing to feel bad about in regards to other peoples' opinions. I also love the way Courtney Act asked questions. I've seen her on TV but never in this capacity and I think she is an absolutely amazing interviewer. It was a pleasure to watch
Love this guy... Nat is a true bloke. Thanks for being willing to talk about the chat shit of growing up and tough times. Tomorrow is a better day.
Love you Nat ! Love you Courtney! I’ve been following both of you for years. Thanks for your excellent entertainment! ❤️
need to see another episode of nats with these two cooking together, shit was hilarious last time, imagine in person.
I'm glad I ran across this video. I had seen Nat's cooking videos but hadn't seen anything for quite a while so thought I would see what he was up to. There's a lot to that guy--very interesting conversation. I have subscribed to his channel. Not being Australian, I didn't know the interviewer, but she does a wonderful interview.
I enjoyed that. Thank you.
We love Nat so much! What a wonderful person and a fantastic interview by Courtney. Love them both. NZ/US
What a beautifully insightful video. Two extremely gorgeous people. Thank you to you both x
