Congratulations on the 10 year mark Sam I just got here this year but I hope to see another great 10 years on this channel. You’re one of the best train reviewers that I’ve seen because you go into extreme detail and being blind it really helps me get a picture of the locomotives, so thank you for that. Keep up what you’re doing man can’t wait to see what you bring in 2024.
Sam, there is no one in this world that makes me feel more safe than you, not trying to sound inappropriate, don't exactly know how to put that into words. 😂 I think we can all agree our days got instantly better when we watch one of your videos, new or old. There's just something so attractive about a guy who puts all passion and dedication into his work.
Our felicitations for the 10 years Sam... Funny enough, us being on H0 mainland Europe, the discovery of your channel a few years ago has been keeping us highly amused regardless because of your jolly ways. Your hard work is a distinctive combination of wackiness, seriousness and pure entertainment. But you also call manufacturers out and set them straight, which seems to be having at least some effect. On top, we are constantly learning about Great Britain's railways and its history where steam-power have started the entire journey of railways across the world, and of course of our beloved hobby. Absolutely fascinating. Another year has just gone by as well..., and we hope that you will also find a tad more time in 2024 to review more German/Austrian locos, e.g. Trix. We'd love to see your thoughts. Keep it all up Sam, and Best wishes for you and Chloe for the New Year.
That's what I would have written, if you had not done it yet! And Sam, please consider widening your reviews on continental european brands like Jouef, Piko, Electrotren ... .
as there are not so many reviewers on UA-cam with such a fine camera work, such a good sound and such a fine and nearly accent-free (sprung buffers) language, which even the people abroad can understand.
I was told that 33% of watchers make it to the end of videos. That's a North American statistic. I wonder what it is for y'all people. Sam, great videos are made with great efforts... and some also have good luck. All your videos I have watched are great... mainly because I understand the efforts (hours) it takes, not just in your "studio", but also when you record outside and make your visits elsewhere. Having your lady join you becomes a treat because I get to see who interacts with you on a daily basis (and sometimes hourly), and that takes respect on her part to join your interests... it can be a rare site to see a couple enjoy trains (model and real). I look forward to your upcoming videos in 2024. Thank you for a wonderful 2023. John British Columbia, Canada
Most favourite locomotives this year for me (but I haven't seen all of your reviews), are the "President" and the "Atlantic". Beautiful designs and liveries.
I agree with everyone else who enjoys your channel. If I say anything about you it risks sounding condescending, but your personality shines through (including the occasional oath!). I'm only a model railway fan through my Dad, who used to have a wonderful Hornby Dublo three-rail collection, which he so very kindly allowed us boys to have access to at Christmas in particular, coincidentally on the living room carpet. Two Duchesses, several tank engines and a Castle amongst others were unboxed and set to run round a double circuit with enormous enjoyment. My younger brother has gone on to produce very detailed scratch-built locos for his club and other layouts, but I remain just a fringe enthusiast who can distinguish a Prairie from a Dean Goods (GWR of course growing up in Bristol). Thank you for the pleasure you bring and I hope you are able to keep going for as long as you (and Chloe!) want to. Salvage or Scrap has been inspired but better to finish on a high - Hollywood have a lot to learn in this regard. No Salvage or Scrap II or S or S the Prequel are needed! I've had a go at Trainz 2019 but Im not sure I'm nerdy enough to get the best out of it - nevertheless an amazing piece of software.
My favourite bits of the year - 3. The 1940s romance film ruined by the hospital train machine gun noise. 2. The GER 0-6-0. 1. The original Thomas review.
Thank you Sam for putting in the time and effort to bring this wonderful hobby some much needed exposure. I always use your reviews as a basis before buying locos. I love how in depth you go, how objective you are and critical too. It's so nice having a youtuber who is open and honest. I've loved seeing your own creations too.. they have been absolutely incredible! If you're looking for suggestions for projects.. I've had one which I would so love you to try... 3D printing and making oo scale Broad Gauge! Could make a fire fly or Iron Duke loco, coaches, trucks.. as well as having a go at 3D printing some Broad Gauge track (using rails from set track ect) for the locos to run on! Be it separate Track or mixed gauge so your standard gauge OO locos could run on it too.. that would be phenomenal.. and with your skills.. I know you could do it! Hope you see this! Have a very happy new year Sam and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us in 2024!!:3
Congratulations on 10 years Sam. You should be very proud of that, but even more of how much you have grown as a reviewer. Apart from your increased knowledge of the various bits on a loco or rolling stock, your reviews have expanded in their scope to be truly informative for all levels of the hobby from those of us who can barely lubricate a loco to those who can completely disassemble one and get it back together with nothing left out. Judging by the comments, even those with no layouts are fans. That is a phenomenal achievement. Also noticeable of late is that the number of snide or unkind comments has dwindled to almost none at all. The fan boys of the manufacturers you have called out have either come to agree with you or (more likely) understand that the Sam’s Trains viewers recognise genuine, unbiased, unfunded reviews and see that you give credit when it is due - even to Bachmann and Hornby! I hope you and Chloe enjoy your break and look forward to the reviews in 2024. All the best for the new year.
Sam; congratulations on ten years, and thank you for continuing to make and publish your videos. As others have mentioned recently, I also have found safe haven in your videos from the craziness that has been going on around the world and across the internet. I’m a 57-year old ex-pat now in the U.S., with fond memories of my triang/hornby days with my dad as a kid. I found your channel this year, looking for info on UK OO/US HO scale compatibility, and immediately became a fan of your knowledge, delivery and quality video production. I especially enjoyed your experiences in custom designing and printing, and very impressed with your Problem-class project. I wish you and Chloe a wonderful New Year, and thank you again for what you do, and do well
Thanks you sam for another brilliant year of content, have really enjoyed watching, hope you, your family and Chloe (and hers too!) Have a great new year and enjoy the break!
Our year began by mentioning your name to a couple of guys on a Bachmann Stand. Their faces met with a1000 words. You have them rattled. Some super purchases in the shape of an S15 which worked very well and one day must sit on our 3 1/2" gauge loco when assembled. Several got at shows. Then the 1500 tank arrives and runs superbly out of the box. Soon to arrive is the Titfield Thunderbolt pack. Happy new Year Sam & Cloe.
Thank you Sam, for another wonderful year, full of the most honest, balanced, and objective reviews in the hobby! Ever since your channel started getting the attention it deserves, manufacturers have been held honest and have been forced to pull their fingers out and innovate. You have greatly helped to stop people from taking advantage of ignorance and stagnating. It has been a most wonderful year, and here is to many and much more!
I’ve been really impressed by your custom made locos; the 552 and Problem Class could rival professional models. I’ve enjoyed a lot of your reviews like the A5, B4, G5, Lion from both companies and Tiger.. Hopefully next year you’ll get to dive into even more new locos. I’m excited to see what you make of the GER Buckjumper (perhaps you should buy the Hattons coaches to match, or get the National Collection in miniature exclusive version of No.87).
It was quite a train ride this year, but I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you Sam for all these great memories this year on UA-cam. Your dedication to this channel. I can’t wait to go through the brand new door of 2024.
Sam, I love your channel. It’s always interesting and this is due in no small part, to your understanding of your viewers and their model railway interests and motivations. Your locomotive reviews are essential viewing and I always feel comforted that you are representing and speaking for typical RTR modellers in the admirable quest for quality models that are also demonstrate “value for money”. Best wishes to you and Chloe for 2024.
My favourite part of this is the clip of my scary exploding gunpowder van request. Thankyou for including it. I sent you two more stories via email. Hope you enjoyed reading them.
I’ve been watching your videos for nearly five years now, and I must say that you have been a great help in helping me get into the model railroading hobby. Many of your reviews have helped me decide which engines and rolling stock I should get, and which ones to avoid. I mainly model American southeastern railroads, and your American model reviews have helped me out a lot. Thank you.
Congratulations Sam on achieving ten years, well deserved. You are my go-to guy for reviews and have saved me from making some ill advised purchases. Thankyou for your honesty and eye for detail. A happy and successful new year to you and Chloe, see you in 24.
Im 1 of those 15k new subscribers(!), and whilst I dont own a train set (and i doubt I'll ever own one, my wife will kill me for having a 2nd model hobby) but i do enjoy your videos Sam, and i have discovered i quite enjoy learning about trains and your hobby. So keep it up, happy new year and all the best for 2024.
Thank you for a great year with you and Chloe! I am looking forward to more great reviews, wacky experiments, awesome 3D-printed Models and hopefully more restorations in the new year!
Congratulations on 10 years Sam! Really appreciate the train reviews which have greatly helped in all my purchases. Happy New Year from Sydney Australia 🎉. Best wishes for 2024
Hi Sam, never really been one to comment but just wanted to say how much I enjoy your content, always a pleasure to sit down with a cup of tea and watch your latest video, I've been watching you for a little under 4 years now and I love tuning into your streams and video. You encouraged me to rekindle my love of model railways to the point I now have my own N scale layout with a lovely collection of locomotives (don't quite have the room for OO but how knows maybe one day). Can't wait to see what you get up to next year and especially looking forward to more N gauge content. Hope you have a wonderful new year!
15 thousand new subscribers, 😮 that is wonderful well done. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos, not just for the reviews, but also the 3D printed model railway items. All the very best wishes for the New Year.
Thank you, Sam. For the last ten years, your reviews have been an absolute blessing in guiding me to the best models, and, maybe more importantly, helping me to avoid the worst. All the best in the New Year and into the future.👍
Your forensic interrogation of a models detail, mechanics, and performance remains my favourite aspect of your channel and doubtless ensures your continued success in to the next decade. Excited to hear we'll see more N gauge in 2024!
Well done on a full decade of this channel Sam mate. Think I’ve been with you for most of that. Don’t change a thing and I look forward to watching in the new year.
What a year! We had flying Scotsman’s 100 birthday, we had amazing reviews, and even some famous models on the layout! I have been watching for over 6 years and I can’t finish this without saying thank you for all the videos, it’s been a blast Sam, Here’s to 10 years more!
Happy New Year Sam! I think a model you would enjoy reviewing would be an HO scale Life-Like Proto 2000 locomotive. The diesels can go for anything around the £40-£80 price range. They were manufactured from the 1980s-2000s by Life-Like until they were bought by Walthers, who continue to make some of the models under the Walthers Proto line. They have great detail for the price, they are amazing runners, and they can have opening cab doors depending on the model. I think you would like having one, and as I have one myself, I can highly recommend them. They just seem to run smoothly on any track (depending on the locomotive's condition), even the most oxidized and badly layed lines (I can say that from experience). Just thought you might like to know. Happy New Year and here's to a great 2024!
Great video to have in the background as I run my Live Steam Mallard and Seagull for the first time in a couple of years. Congratulations on your ten year anniversary! I hope you continue to grow your channel and collection, and experience as a person just going through life like the rest of us!
I only discovered your channel two or three years ago, Sam, but was instantly addicted. You've had another good year, and so, thanks to you, have we. Excellent and honest reviews, even if I do not always agree completely with all points, and some truly world-class entertainment. I eagerly await every new video to come, and to seeing your continued growth in model creation. Happy New Year to you and Chloe, and to all of your subscribers.
Hi Sam, thanks for a great year of reviews and fun. As an era 3 GWR modeller, I have especially appreciated the great models from Rapido and Dapol. So also a treat to see the handsome King pull the last train of the year out. Your enthusiasm and straight reviews are always informative and interesting. You champion a fascinating and absorbing hobby. Thanks too must go to Chloe. Wishing you both a fantastic 2024 and I look forward to the first review of the new year. Cheers Sam and every blessing, Dave. 🙏
Congrats, Sam! Ten years, we're all very proud of you! Hey, do us a favor, please? You've been blessed with a magnificent beard on that very handsome face of yours. With Chloe's blessing, how about letting that awesome beard 'grow out' this winter for a short while? Showcase it in an episode or two, then mow it all off! We think you'd look absolutely awesome! Best wishes for a Happy and Prosperous New Year !!!
Great video as always Sam. Congratulations on the 10 years! You gave us fantastic content throughout 2023 to enjoy and we look forward to 2024! Happy new year to you Sam and thank you!
Congratulations on ten years! I have loved watching your videos since I think 2017! It’s been an amazing year and I can’t wait to see more! I think my favorite loco you reviewed was Big Boy 4014. I’m a huge fan of the big boy and i definitely loved that review! You have come a long way and I’m so glad to see your work improve! God bless!
Another amazing year from you Sam, and your videos have been amazing. I always look forward to your videos, especially evenings when I come home from work and before going to bed and I just love watching them when I can. I enjoyed your Salvage Or Scrap series, and hopefully you will bring it back eventually, and I love to see more running sessions back for next year, and also I love your extreme experiment series too, but also I like to see more 3D Printer based projects from you as well, but I am hopeful you will do what you can for next year, and hopefully that 2024 will be the best years for SamsTrains. Best of everything for you and Chloe as well for 2024 too.
Congratulations and well done on achieving 10 years with your channel. Although you make it look easy there is no doubt you put in a huge amount of hard work. Thank you and Happy New Year.
This has been a very wonderful year Sam. All of the locos you have reviews have been awesome, and I want almost all of them! The switch to 4K was very nice, as now we can all see the models like we are there, in the room with you! And I still remember when you noticed me on your livestream a while ago! But anyway, you get a very well earned break until January, so we will all see you then! Cheers Sam, thanks for being one of my favorite UA-camrs ever!
Hi Sam. All the best for the coming new year. Here in New Zealand it is heading into the evening of New Years eve and you guys will be waking up shortly. My main disappointment with the channel has been the inability to purchase one of your 3D printed models, as they are usually sold out before I even get to look at the video they are advertised for sale in. It has been a busy year for you and I hope that both you and Cloe have a great New Years Day celebration, and the channel continues to go from strength to strength. I look forward to seeing what sort of video content you are going to be producing in the coming year.
I find your videos very relaxing and as well as informative and look forward to every one. I wish you and your wife a happy new year and we are all looking forward to a second productive decade for us to enjoy .
Its a big milestone you have came across. Ten years of your hard work only to entertain only us. Love your work sir. Hats off to you. Even your 3d printed models look far better than any other. I have first watched your channel in 2017. I have never ever seen better, funny, model reviews ever.
Beem a pleasure to rediscover your channel early this year and in doing so rediscover my love of model railways. Thank you so much sam. Heres to another 10 years
Awhh, that was great to see, way more content than I had realised and I've missed a few like the bearings video... I've made a note to go seek it out :) looking forward to seeing more in this new year, especially the N gauge items :)
I absolutely enjoy SamsTrains! His vidoes are relaxing and entertaining. Not to mention upmost informative in the model railroading hobby. Have a happy New Year Sam,
Swapped a Bachman class 37 for an accurascale 37 last week after your review and couldn’t be happier. So much more detail in my opinion. Really hoping they bring a class 08 out before my Hornby pre order comes in
Happy New Year Sam , I'd like to see more day out video's (NRM & York springs to mind) and I think replacing some of the more worn station buildings with some you printed yourself could be an interesting exercise.
Congratulations on 10 years. I once commented that I don’t participate in the hobby. I still don’t. I do however love your channel and just find it super relaxing and informative. Thank you and best wishes for 2024
I ran my new accura. class 37 sound loco today and it is outstanding. the sound file is superb and it runs brilliantly with a great crawl (smoothlly on speed step 1!!!!!).
I had something of a rough year this time around, but your content always managed to cheer me up when I was at my lowest points, as well as inspiring me to create my own reviews, which I have had a blast doing. I would love to see you review some of the Hornby Dublo range. I know they are very expensive, but I have seen them able to deliver. I had a look at the Dublo A4 on my channel, and waa thouroughly impressed, despite the massive pricetag.
Good on you, Sam - your videos have kept me entertained and informed since I got back into the hobby and discovered your channel. And your recent Peckett B2 video was the perfect warm and fuzzy cure to feeling burned out after moving house. Happy new year and all the best to you and Chloe for 2024. Cheers! 🎆🎉
Just serviced my old Märklin 3094 (from 1976, I believe). My reward for a job well done - and long overdue - is going to be a big bowl of chocolate ice cream and this episode of Sam's Trains.
As someone who specifically bought an iPhone 13 to film in 4K at 60 FPS, I appreciate the greater visual quality of your videos this year. It takes longer to render but it’s worth it for the quality. Happy new year
Thank you Sam for this amazing year. One of many things I appriciate is that I know if you give some model good ranking - it's honestly good, when you say it's not the best - I know it was not the best. You are very reliable and that is very nice! Love your reviews, funny moment, other mini-series. Well spent 10 years. I hope next year is going to be even beter to both of us and take care! Happy New Year!!! :D
Hi Sam happy new year and here's to a great 2024. As for ideas how about scrap or salvage? I really enjoyed the old salvage or scrap maybe a couple of specials could make an appearance. As for sensible ideas, more visits to preserved railways especially the great trains of Wales (one weeks holiday and 7 or 8 episodes in the bag. A great B&B for visiting these railways is Old Mill Farmhouse on the A470 Close to Trawsfynydd. Looking forward to more Sam's trains and we need more Cloe, may be Cloe could build her own layout in 009. God bless you both
Hi Sam, I think I've been subbed for about 6 years now and every video is so unique it's truly amazing! I love your content and your videos are very special and quite professional, congratulations of the 10 year mark for the channel! Thanks for all you do, hope you have a fantastic 2024!
Hi Sam, Congrats on a full year and thank you for all the content, reviews and model railway tips from salvage or scrap. Shame the shows ended but you do you. I know you dont always review electrics but I am hoping you choose to review the new Hornby Class 91 model, as its a model i am hoping to own one day as the intercity train always reminds me of watching trains go by with my dad. Keep up the great content and hope you have a nice new year too!
Well waht a year! Some amazing locos and rolling stock this year, and some fantastic 3d printed locos - really great work sam, and heres to another year of the channel!
Hi Sam, great year of viewing. I did miss some of your videos, due to work, life, and the usual, but I managed to watch your reviews and I was really happy to see you do a few N gauge and TT. I hope you have a great new year and had a wonderful Christmas. Keep up the good work. As busy as everyone is, it’s still a great day when your videos are released. Have fun. And as always, take care of yourself and Chloe. Keep safe and healthy. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great year Sam, not been with you for 10 years, but your insight and education helps a a returning modeller get to grips with everything. I wonder why you do not focus on DCC today, as I recall an early review of a Hornby Elite?
Hi Sam, since you asked: I'd like to see more restorations where there are not artificial constraints - you enjoyed the one you did this year, I I really enjoyed watching it. But mostly, I think your 3D work is really good, and important as one possible direction for "the hobby" to take - you are one of the pioneers here. Thank you for providing much inspiration and entertainment, see you next year 🙂
Hi Sam, in the words of Carly Simon, when singing the title song for "The Spy Who Loved Me," NOBODY DOES IT BETTER, especially when it comes to reviews. You are just miles ahead of everyone else. Regarding new ideas, how about revisiting loco maintenance? Perhaps you could compare the way you did it years ago to the way you do it now, sharing with us new techniques and tips? Anyway, thanks ever so much for the authoritative, informative and entertaining content in 2023, and I look forward to more in 2024. Happy New Year to you and Chloe, Sam. Stephen
Hi Sam, hope the festive season has been good to you. Can’t wait to see some more N gauge next year, but any review is good viewing so looking forward to it. Best for 2024.
Hi Sam this year i went from a cardboard sheet on floor to a base board with building and grass. . Added The flying Scotsman and Bristol Castle. Read the history of my trains Alway check for spring buffers and run my lowloadet wagon with a panda on it in your honor, Happt new year.
Merry Christmas Sam & Chloe and thank you for great reviews and videos always interesting and love those quirky interesting 3D printed models very best wishes and wishing you a great new year from way down here in New Zealand cheers Dave Melville

Happy new year - Sam :)

Hopefully next year you’ll get to dive into even more new locos. I’m excited to see what you make of the GER Buckjumper (perhaps you should buy the Hattons coaches to match, or get the National Collection in miniature exclusive version of No.87).
Kinda surprised the Athearn SD60E wasn't in your top 3. Maybe some European manufacture bias there?
You’ve Accomplished So Much This Year Sam! You Even Got To Review Awdrys Thomas Model!
Best wishes for 2024
Happy New Year and thanks for all your work for our wonderful hobby!
Cheers from Padua, Italy!
Happy New Year Sam, Congratulations on 10 years! Here's to another 10 years!
Wow sam what a great year! Can’t believe how much your head has grown 😊let’s see how much bigger it gets in 2024!
What a year indeed - thanks so much for all your support!
Happy new year - Sam :)
Thanks for all the information and entertainment - Happy New Year to you and Chloe!
I think my favorite videos from your channel are of the locomotives that you have designed and built yourself. Happy New Year!
Congrats on your tenth year. Happy new year to Chloe & yourself!
Can't believe I watched every one of your videos this year, such a great variety of content! Happy New Year to you and Chloe!
Its a big milestone you have came across. Ten years of your hard work only to entertain only us. Love your work sir.
Hats off to you.
Even your 3d printed models look far better than any other. I have first watched your channel in 2017. I have never ever seen better, funny, model reviews ever.
Happy New Year From Australia Sam! Love your work. Can't wait for 2024
thanks for another amazing year. and may the channel gain 10 fold subscribers.
Honestly 2023 was a great year, so many cool video you do, cannot wait for 2024
Well done on another great year Sam!
Happy New Year ! May this year 24 ,be bigger and better then ever !
A big thank you sam . For bringing us all a year of fantastic videos. Keep up the good work 👏 and a very Happy New year to you and all your family.
Really hoping they bring a class 08 out before my Hornby pre order comes in
Thanks for all of the great video this year. Can't wait to see what mischief you get into next year.
Keep up the amazing content and the variety of content. Good luck with the new year ahead cheers from down under.
Happy New Year Sam looking forward to more reviews in 2024 plus building your own Locos
Well done and thank you Sam, keep up the good work. Best model railway channel by far.
Well Sam looking forward too the new years see what it brings. Happy New year
Good on you, Sam - your videos have kept me entertained and informed since I got back into the hobby and discovered your channel. And your recent Peckett B2 video was the perfect warm and fuzzy cure to feeling burned out after moving house. Happy new year and all the best to you and Chloe for 2024. Cheers! 🎆🎉
Happy New Year Sam... another great year of videos. I particularly enjoyed your 3D printed locos, I hope there are more to come in 2024!!
Just serviced my old Märklin 3094 (from 1976, I believe). My reward for a job well done - and long overdue - is going to be a big bowl of chocolate ice cream and this episode of Sam's Trains.
17:23 that’s me at the top
Happy New Year Sam & thank you for a year of great videos. I can't wait for Sams Trains 2024.
Hi Sam,
Congrats on a full year and thank you for all the content, reviews and model railway tips from salvage or scrap.
Thank You Sam for sharing your wonderful life with us. Happy New Year!
Thank you for providing much inspiration and entertainment, see you next year 🙂
Thanks for a fun year Sam. I will be back on board in '24.
thank you sam for all your helpfull videos , and all the best for 2024
Hi Sam, in the words of Carly Simon, when singing the title song for "The Spy Who Loved Me," NOBODY DOES IT BETTER, especially when it comes to reviews.
Stephen
A fantastic year for Sam's Trains. Smashing videos. Thanks for keeping us so well informed and so well entertained. Happy New Year. 😊
Congratulations on ten years. Amazing. Keep going
Good onya Sam...
Enjoy your holidays...
See you next year...
Farewell 2023, you were a wonderful year for some newly released model.
Cheers Jasper & Willow
Hi Sam, hope the festive season has been good to you.
Can’t wait to see some more N gauge next year, but any review is good viewing so looking forward to it.
Best for 2024.
Thank you Sam and Chloe, for great entertainment and reviews, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you both.
Hi Sam this year i went from a cardboard sheet on floor to a base board with building and grass. . Added The flying Scotsman and Bristol Castle. Read the history of my trains Alway check for spring buffers and run my lowloadet wagon with a panda on it in your honor,
Happt new year.
Merry Christmas Sam & Chloe and thank you for great reviews and videos always interesting and love those quirky interesting 3D printed models very best wishes and wishing you a great new year from way down here in New Zealand cheers Dave Melville
