    I’ve used it since I started with clay (which admittedly isn’t that long ago) but I will say it’s not so bad if sealed with resin or other finish. It also has worked really well for me for tinting translucent liquid clay… bakes up well after I found though I typically bake at lower than directed temps if that is important

    I have used these paints to "frost" polymer clay cookie ornaments, and I found that giving the clay surface a texture with a rough paintbrush or toothbrush helps the paint stay put. The main issue I have with this product is that if two pieces painted with the puff paint are touching, a bit of the color from one will sometimes transfer to the other. I store them wrapped in wax paper to prevent this.

    Nice experiment! I was curious about that myself. Love the new glasses, Cindy! The blue sunglasses in the pocket are a great touch too. Thanks.

    I've used this kind of "puffy paint" on clothes and it will come off if you try to peel at it and scratch at it, but it held up in washings and to toddlers. I used to cut out designs from fabric and heat seal them on to shorts and white t-shirts. I'd then go back and accent the design with the puffy paints. we got a great deal of wear from these outfits and some were even handed down. If you picked at the paint it would come up but for the most part, it stayed put.

    I used scribbles to fill in designs I had pressed into polymer clay beads way back in the early 1990's! I just smeared it on the baked bead, wiped off as much as possible with a tissue, and let it dry. Once dry I used a manicure sanding block to clean up the bead.

    Fabric paint can be peeled off fabric too. I know because I did that a lot with my clothes in high school when I became bored. :P For something high wear just coat it with a layer or two of resin and that would solve the problem.
    Very cool test video. I would have never thought of using fabric paint on PC but now I may have to try that out. :D - Heidi

    What if you sealed it under liquid polymer clay or a. Very thin piece of translucent clay? Just trying to think outside the box.

  • @sagnotron
    @sagnotron 2 роки тому

    I wonder if spraying varnish on it once the piece is done would work. Have you tried that? Resin would lock it in, I imagine, but then we’d lose the raised and rounded look, hmmm 🤔

    Maybe it will work better if added before baking the clay? Also, couldn't you just add resin or some kind of sealer to seal the paint?

      I have tried it before baking and it just went flat, but I am also curious about putting a resin coating on it. I would love to know if anyone has tried that, because it could be a great solution to keep it from coming off.

    Do you think it will stay if the jewelry is sealed? For example, Triple Thick.

    sorry for a silly question but can someone tell me how to open a scribble bottle? First-timer here. Do I unscrew the cap cuz that seemed harder to open than a pickle jar. When I squeezed the bottle I saw the paint come to the top. Or do I just puncture a hole through the tip or something?

    i wonder if you do a light coat of resin it would glaze the pieces and make the puff paint permanent and leave the texture.

    What if you clear sealed the scribbles on the clay? would it seal it in and not peel? Would you test and let me know?

      Don't know if a sealer will be strong enough but resin would work. You could test it and let me know! 😏

    You are amazing. My all time helper. Please 2 questions: 1.Does the permanent marker work if i paint small things before baking? 2. I use fimo effect, it comes with a lot of bubbles , ive watched your videos how to avoid and solution even though not working, please advice (fimo effect). Thank you a lot❤️

      There are some markers that will work, you will need to do some tests, since I haven't yet tested that many markers on all the brands yet. I am in the process of testing Sakura Microperm pens and they look promising. Clay doesn't really come with bubbles in it. That happens when you trap air in it when you fold it. Just follow the tips on that video and make sure to pull your sheets of clay to release as much air as possible from the clay before baking. Good luck!

    Hi Cindy, I love your videos and seen many of them. I'm new to PC, I don't have a pasta machine yet and I have a question :is it possible to overwork the clay when practicing and rolling it out with the roller pin? I'm asking because although I follow the instructions and bake the clay for an hour at the right temperature, I'll let them cool but the pieces keep breaking.
    Could you please advise? Thank you and thanks for your great videos 😀😀

    • @PolymerClayTutor
      @PolymerClayTutor  7 років тому +1

      No, you can't really overwork the clay. If it gets too soft, then just let it sit for a bit. Your breakage issue could be the brand of clay you're using, or your oven temp could be off. Use a strong brand like Premo, Kato, Fimo, Pardo or Cernit and get an oven thermometer and strength should improve. Good luck!

      Thanks Cindy 😀 I use Premo and I do have a thermometer, I guess the temperature wasn't high enough. It was about 125C', probably I would need 130C' and then let them cool in the oven. I keep testing and practising. And I keep watching your awesome videos 😁😁

    What if you sealed it with modge podge?

    • @PolymerClayTutor
      @PolymerClayTutor  4 роки тому

      Unless you seal something with something thick and strong like resin, putting a thin finish, usually won't help something stay stuck, if it wants to come loose.
