Ray apparently according to Rockstar found doing the whole game quite difficult and was hard to work with at times, while Ray felt he was underpaid by them (not the last time the lead VA would accuse Rockstar of underpaying them). But the man gave it his all and truly brought Tommy to life in Vice City and deserved his award here.
Yeah Niko and GTA 5 cast are the only actors that haven't had a huge problem. It's only the 2000s actors that said something, CJ's actor has been dissing rockstar for years but he's eased up lately

Tommy was suppose to be the owner of the cassino from GTA San Andreas, but something goes wrong with Ray Liotta and Rockstar chose Salvatore Leone instead. This is also the reason Ken Rosenbaurg and Kent Paul were working for Salvatore. It's sad because GTA San Andreas is the end of the trilogy without Tommy.

People expect to be paid retroactively. That's not how it works. They don;t understand the games industry. What they know is, you make a movie, you get paid, then you get paid when the movie goes to box office and you get a share. Not how games work. I dont know if Ray ever realized how much he contributed into putting video games on par with movies by lending his voice and giving this performance. He probably didn't think it was a huge deal at the time but I feel he later realized how big video games became years later considering he voiced Billy in Black Ops 2 ten years later. RIP Ray.

I was in Miami during the year of 86. It was out of this world. The best part was when I was stuck in traffic while Miami Vice was being filmed. The cool thing about it was Crockett and Tubbs would wave and talk sign autographs between takes.

Rockstar is known for underpaying voice actors despite making billions in sales. That’s why they use mostly unknown actors these days.
