Thanks - will bulid one this weekend.
well done mate
Jayden Lawson hows the construction going
@@nuclearphoenix177 it was too easy for him. Now he's building a playable scale version that will fit inside a matchbox.
NUCLEAR Phoenix1 decided to wait till “next” weekend 😏
Jayden Lawson, Make sure you're cealing is high enough.
The casualness of this is so funny - easy, just drill 5,000 holes
And cut pipe no larger than 32 feet
Don't forget the 15,000 small parts for the primaries, secondary pouches, and pallets (24 parts per note) in the chest
The most amazing thing about handcrafted instruments is no matter how similar you make them, every little detail makes the instrument and it’s sound unique.
oh crap. I forgot the church, now I have to start all over agan
Underrated
Lol
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been looking for a DIY tutorial everywhere for a 5,000-pipe organ! I am now going to build one!
How did I end up here?
I'm just looking for an Electric Piano from Walmart.
Kidding 😂
What a magnificent art 😍
Funny
because organ is the grand grand grand father of electronic piano
Thankfully, it is the electrical-electronics age...but some enthusiasts like me, still wanna see the machinery
Ashuj machinery still reigns the electronics one
Same here
@ i have a Casio cdp 230r keyboard. I like using it for variation. However, an actual piano has more depth. I hope one day to play an actual organ one day.
Exactly the same here, only I want no electric instrument to exist, meaning I want times to go back to where the organ is manually blown by another person.
@@stanislausklim7794You’re not going to get there without asking. Form a relationship with a church that has an organ if you haven’t already, and then ask them politely if you can! Be prepared for them to want to arrange something with you.
For when you need a do it your self Organ video.
"Now insert your 5,000 pipes in the box."
Exactly what I commented XD
what was the point of the hipsters, literally only needed the narrator and the german guy in this video...
They need to exist otherwise the whole dimension will collapse, they are nucleus stabilisers.
As Goethe knew, good can only exist next to bad.
What is the point of the avocados? Toast is the most without it.

You only have to drill 5,000 holes and aquire lots of material! Not a huge project!
:dddddddd :d i what i thoughf :dddddddd
Only need a few hundred.
Okay I will build sure one day. Thanks for the instruction.
My favorite instrument!!!
Mine too.
step 1 : get a church
*hang on let me go get mine*
I will start to build church first I need to make some bricks (: i hope to finish this project within 6000 years.
Wait. I am not sure if I can live even 60 more years. Project canceled. Now let's play some Vivaldi.
Get the aliens to help you like the Egyptians did with the pyramids
At 1:27, that is a reservoir not bellows. Bellows generate wind (nowadays replaced by electric blowers). Reservoirs store wind and regulate its output for a constant pressure.
Friend: hey cool organ how much did it cost?
Me: my house.
I followed along with the tutorial, but half way I had to stop because my dad found out I used all the pipes in the house for it.
Did you remember the church? I almost forgot in my organ.
0:56. That moment when she's bigger than you
Yup I'm gonna stick with the piano instead😆😂
Dang it, the 20000 sf cathedral that I inherited already has an organ.
Thnx my mate wants one thought it’d be a fun project
Even if we can replicate some of the sounds with electronic devices, i would definitely have a organ in my house
I agree
Thanks you’re a life saver🙏🏿🙏🏿
Im in love with this
Excellent video, thank you. You made it easy for a non-musician (like me) to understand.
2:13 LOL
My kid watched this video for her music class and she said it was so awesome and so interesting
Excelente reportaje y el nivel de detalle, los felicito.
One day I'll make an organ with PVC pipes.
The diameter to length ratio won't be consistent enough with the diameters that are available.
@@resonantdave There are some organs with pipes that are lengthened differently, but sized the same. It's mainly smaller organs, fairground organs, and portable organs that have these.
I have a Casio cdp 230r keyboard. I'm looking to maybe (in the future) attach foot keyboard like for organs. Would it at all possible to do this? Since the bass pedal pad can be expensive, I don't wanna waste money.
Really nice informative, but short video. Isnt a didgeridoo played rather like brass instruments, though?
It is, although it's not as simple as blowing air into the pipe. To make sound with a didgeridoo, some mouvement of tongue, mouth are needed ! You can even "hum" into it to make a different sound and different notes
Thanks Discovery Channel
I made an organ out of legos. (The musical kind, not the flesh kind)
How does it sound?
I don’t think anyone has made an organ out of flesh.
What church was this filmed at.
They had to explain that in the assembly there should be divisions for each tube group 1:08
20,000 man hours??? I really gotta wonder at that point which would be more cost efficient, hiring more people or hiring enough people and waiting almost 3 years at the very least???
Instructions unclear, built a medieval cathedral
Just 5,000 ... well, they DID say a "medium sized" organ!! Imagine the Wanamaker with something like 29,000+ and then there's that behemoth in Atlantic city that, if it were 100% operational, becomes the largest, most powerful musical instrument ... at least in our solar system!!!
Instructions Unclear: I now have a bunch of paper towel rolls on a cereal box in front of a fan and a keyboard
Now, I know. I have always wanted.
Complete documentary plz
Fascinating!
There are much smaller ones, which are possible to be homemade.
0:23 - J.S. Bach - Toccata & Fugue
Wish I'd known it only takes just under three minutes of video to learn how to build a pipe organ before I spent all that time reading books and and learning from actual organ builders. Don't I feel silly now.
1:53 whats that song called?
crhomatic fugue J.S BACH
Actually, I was improvising :)
There's a number of pieces played on the instrument in the video available on this playlist: ua-cam.com/video/QyI5wsuZxvQ/v-deo.html
You forgot a part that goes into the wind chest below the pipes. You forgot the magnets and solenoids and the wiring.
This is starting to sound like a lot of work.
That's way, way too cheep! You would need 3 million dollars roughly to build an organ for a cathedral.
Pretty sure the most expensive ever was $4.2m. I doubt $3m is standard.
@@tophercIaus What do you mean?
@@tophercIaus The atlantic city organ probably costs way more than that
As an organist of 25 years and a person whom worked in a pipe shop. 3 minutes does NOT even remotely explain this instrument. AT ALL.
1. Standard windchests do NOT have 1 thousand pipes on them.
2. Average cost of a USED pipe organ can be UNDER 50k. If your church wants one. WRITE a pipe organ company an email. Usually there is another church discarding their instrument for a praise band (SAD).
3. If you want your church organ to be exciting. Ask them for a Trompette 8' , a MIXTURE IV and to SCALE up the Pedal bourdon. And then a VOIX CELESTE for tonal Color. Trust me. You want emotion to your music and NOT just LOUD.
4. A pipe organ is much more emotional than a Praise band. Really, Consider the pipe organ.
Still, it's 50.000$ lol
I would imagine that getting a pipe organ for free will still require a good chunk of money. The destination building needs to have space for the pipes, console and all the air ducting and such. This would probably require a good amount of engineering and renovations to an existing building. It is probably easier to design a building from scratch with a pipe organ as opposed to retrofitting.
Es imprescindible que tenga ,como minimo 3 o 4 pedaleros de 32 notas con 72 registros, con solo un manual de 5 octavas, basta.
Lo importsnte es que sea muy grande y haga mucho ruido.
Excellent!
2:20 😂
Why is the Fred and George theme from the Harry Potter games here?
What’s the piece playing at step 2? 02:24
That’s a blues piano. Not organ related.
0:23 Orochimaru's Theme?
You don't need 5000 pipes to have an organ with all the necessary tonal resources. In many cases, an organ with fewer than 500 pipes will do the job. It would be awesome to have 1000 or more pipes, but I'd rather ave a 4-rank unit organ than an Allen.
A 4-rank unit organ could have somewhere around 340 pipes. That's still better than an Allen with only 2-4 speakers.
The reason there’s so many pipes, is because of the stops. When you pull a stop, you completely change the sound of a specific manual. This requires a completely different set of pipes. Depending on how many stops and manuals the organ has, an organ can easily have 5000 pipes.
There's always the pipe organ clearing house. You can buy a complete organ, very often in pristine condition, for anywhere from $10,000 on up. Oh, well, assuming you already have a large hall to put it in, you still have to have it moved ... for around $100,000 or so should do it.
OK I'm stuck on step one.
Which organ is that at 1:54?
The Great Organs of First Congregational Church of Los Angeles.
The church offers weekly half-hour organ prelude concerts on Sunday mornings before the service starts via fccla.org/live.
There's also a playlist featuring this organ and the organist in the video (myself :) on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/QyI5wsuZxvQ/v-deo.html
I think a few details were left out. 😉
That CGI console though… yikes haha!! Namely the expression rocker foot pedal locations😬
I thought the CGI looked terrible.

Everyone: Bach
Me: OROCHIMARU THEME
Nice 🙂
Oh I forgot "the vind chest"
heavily generalized but great none the less
My church got a $10,000,000 organ AND IT'S AMAZING!
and people were building such a machine 500 years ago? this is an industrial process and just don't add up with the official narrative which says industrial revolution took place in late 18th century
❤😊
Arranger keyboards: 🤔
:24 what’s that song
Toccata
The Toccata section from Bach's most famous Toccata and Fugue
WavenFPV thanks!
It's the beginning of the fugue (BWV 565/2) of the famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor.
The whole piece (both Toccata and Fugue, BWV 565), is here: ua-cam.com/video/zxB5yfu2cv4/v-deo.html
(Same organ and organist as in this video.)
@@christophbull found out years ago, thanks for the link though, i’ve been trying to find that one.

Sorry, but there is no organ under two million for a room that size.
There is a lot of I formation missing in this video about the Pipe Organ and it is very misleading. 👍✊😮!
oh cool a talking rooster
wth, all of that under 3 minutes? a lesser youtuber would take 5 midroll ads to discuss that.
It takes a _VERY_ Long Time to build a Pipe Organ.
For the funnies
And lastly when you’re done building the damn thing you need a pianist to play it. Preferably someone with at least 3 phd in music
It is a lot more complicated than this
There's something really fricked up about the organ console in that thumbnail... Im an organist. I'd know
Maybe it’s the CGI looks bad though and the modeling of it in that form is terrible, I think that’s why though.
@@darthlinathegreat7489 lol no its the placement of the row of expression pedals/toe pistons directly below the bottom manual as opposed to directly above the pedal keys. The row of expression pedals/toe pistons is at literal waist level when it should be down at the feet. It's kind of hilarious looking... no hard feelings tho

How and why did this discovery channel episode turn into a comedy skit?
The make it looks easy altho is not
I am sure you can still buy handbook with all info you need on woodprix. Just google it.
Third
300-500k sounds cheap compared to violins that can cost 10 millions
Pointless. And inaccurate.
why the f**k do I need to get a church to build an pipe organ.
Because **DEUS VULT** ye filthy heretic.
second
and this is how we turn an interesting topic into a very lame video
This is the very first DJ station.
