    Regarding battery power, where the units have batteries built in, when those go out, i.e. no longer chargeable, or holds short charges, you essentially have a brick until you can get the unit serviced and a new battery put in. With the Roland, they likely are using rechargeable batteries, AA, and when any of those go out, you just replace piecemeal, and you're always good to do. I have a Roland PA that is like this, and cool beans. I almost bought a Fishman Loudbox battery powered amp at Guitar Center, and they warned me off of it because of past experiences they'd had about the battery not having an appreciable enough longevity (not playing time, but ultimate battery life before it is dead forever).

    The big Marshall's (JCM 900 for example) sound extremely good with the violin, but you will need a preamp to match the impedance. (: and some back exercises to carry it around

    Solid State amps work well with Piezo pickups, IMHO. Tube amps are better for magnetic (Guitar) pickups. I have a Peavey Backstage Plus and with a Boss HR-2 I can get my violin to sound like Metallica. I paid $45 bucks for it but I paid another $50 to get the reverb pot replaced. I'm pretty sure Boss effects buffer the signal.

      @@esparka No, the system does not support adding bass modules. However, the S1 Pro

      Thank you for the reply.
      I perform multi-instruméntales on guitar, violin & piano. The sub desire is mainly for the piano in the mix. I tried a Bose S1Pro at a Guitar Center one time through a Yamaha electric piano & there was just no bass response for that instrument in the S1.
      I currently own 2 Bose L1 Model 2 systems & 6 B1 subs + a Bose Packlite 250 watt power amp that powers 2 B1s.
      I hoped to hook the Packlite somehow to the S1Pro for small gigs where the L1 is too much to carry.
      Perhaps a keyboard amp would work.

    • @ElectricViolinShop
      @ElectricViolinShop  3 роки тому +1

      @@esparka In theory, a keyboard amp would have a relatively flat response. Just be aware that they're expecting an ultra low impedance line level input. So you'll definitely need a preamp between your violin and the amp.

      Matt here: I'm a CodaBow artist, so you can guess what I'll recommend. I became a CodaBow artist because I really believe in their products. I was a customer before I was an endorser. I just think they've got the best value in bows out there.
      I used to use super cheap bows because I didn't know any better. I went out and bought a decent carbon fiber bow because I was starting to make some decent money and I was blown away at how big a difference it made. My bandmates were asking me what I had changed in my rig because my playing sounded so much better. When your bass player notices, that's a real testament.

      Fender Mustang is a great budget electric guitar amp. We tend not to carry electric guitar amps (except the BOSS Katana, which has an acoustic amp modeler) because they are often voiced too brightly for violin. If you like it and it sounds good to you, that's great and that's all that matters! We've not tried that particular amp, but have found other Vox guitar amps to sound a little too bright with violin. If you like it and it works, then go for it (and let us know!)
      If you're looking for a small amp for under $200, we like the Roland Mobile Cube, priced the same as the Vox: www.electricviolinshop.com/roland-mobile-cube.html
      If you're just looking for a relatively inexpensive amp that can play quietly and still sound good, the BOSS Katana 50 MkII is an amazing value. It's $229.99, has onboard effects and amp modeling, and has a power setting for 0.5W, 25W, or 50W. You can be super quiet with it or take it on stage and crank it to 50W and sound great through the 12" speaker.
