Slightly different question. How many times can you re-seam a high quality polyester textured cut pile carpet? I bought a carpet at **** ***** and the carpet installers used by **** ***** used a straight cut... and the carpet roll direction on the two sides surrounding the cut are not in the same direction ... so that the seam was clearly visible. **** ***** installer came back out and reseamed the carpet ... they were supposed to use a row cut ... but did not they used the same improper straight cut. Now **** ***** says they are going to send the installer back out and do a proper resealing using a row cut. That makes three times that the carpet seam in question will have been installed --- 1) original seaming 2) first reseaming 3) second reseaming. This means the polypropylene primary backing (which holds the carpet fibers) is hot ironed. I think this will cause permanent damage to the primary backing and carpet fibers in the vicinity of the seam. They did not follow Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) guidelines for residential carpet (google it, you can download the complete guidelines yourself. I asked but **** ***** refuses to replace the carpet.
Its been a year but here goes nothing! The directional arrows on the back of the carpet should all point in the same direction! If not,,, you WILL see the seam and carpets will very in color! If care is takin ,, you can reseam many times. Dont over heat the backing of the rug or it doesn't want to lay flat. You said the arrows were going different directions,,, this is an installer ERROR ( I've turned the arrows on rentals WITH the owners signature of approval to save them money. ) This problem your having should have been addressed and fixed or replaced by the place you purchased from or the manufacturer of the carpet! Wonder if you are still under warranty? Good day.
Can you seem one side of the carpet at a time? Like putting your iron on only half of the seam tape and then working the other side with a kicker to stretch it as you do it?
Every situation is different. Next opportunity I have I’ll shoot some Re stretchingof hallways as well but this particular case fell right on the seam so this was the fast fix

Should have stretched both sides of seam towards each other and secured them with nails then seam so that bubble doesn't come back

No bud don’t try that unless u use a hot glue gun wich is kind of jerry ..but it would be difficult to even do that
If the carpet start to come apart as you're pulling that seam tape off how do you get the scene tape off from there on out
Should use your seam iron to heat the glue!
Your strategy on halls seems to be to take the bubbles out in this manner rather than restreach the hall carpet. I think.

Totally wrong! Must stretch to seam with power stretcher, n stay nails. Must use straight edge, n seam sealer.when done, release strecher.hes a hack!
