I've always felt that Doug and Stu were as good a rhythm section as any band in the 1960's and that's saying a lot b/c there were more GREAT bands in this era than ever, before or since. They were solid and Doug kept it in the pocket, he was the engine and Stu was the wheels on the CCR Train.

In this way they had more influence than Led Zeppelin, and it is great amusement to listen to their sound; you cannot immitate it; impossible! We tried hard, myself and my band-colleges! Yes, but then then you hear Stu, and get blown away, then notice Doug's amazing hard- driving drums, then John's wailing guitar and vocals- and it's all over.
