This would have been the greatest Star Wars game ever I think. This is what we all wanted from the sequel and seeing how much more was going to be in the final game with Elite Squadron, I don't see how it could have been topped. Hope to see this progress into a playable game to be released to the public. I remember the night the news broke about Free Radical and I was staying over a friends house and we sat and watched the freshly leaked footage that was uploaded to youtube. We felt so robbed because we looked at that game and saw the ultimate Star Wars game and much like Alderaan you could feel it in the force a billion fans cried out excitement and were suddenly silenced. This has to be eventually released, Free Radical's death cannot be in Vein.

Absolutely wild. I played Battlefront 1 and 2 with my sibling for over a decade and can remember watching the E3 footage for 3. Even though it was blurry and choppy it made us buy a PS3 to play this game. Seeing it this clear and smooth only makes me wonder what could have been. I've long grown out of Star Wars, the prequels were a staple of my youth, yet I've always gone back to those 2 classic games. Would this one have been as great, if not better with its own identity? Absolutely looks so.

Listen, Disney. Retrieve all the code and files to Battlefront III from graves of LucasArts/Free Radical and give it to Nightdive Studios to finally finish this masterpiece of a game. It’s a great injustice that needs to be corrected!
There is possible that if more complete/90% ready build that rumors saying(if this build and source code still exist) would leak some skilled moders would finish it for free.

The two things that ruined a lot of Xbox 360 games were the over use of motion blur and bloom lighting especially yellow colored bloom lighting. Also a lot of games seemed to be based around a color palette of greens, browns, and greys which was also bad. This game would have been a big seller though they are dumb for not finishing it.
It's blurring than usual cus it wasn't finished or optimized. The resolution isn't the end product ya feel

@@shadoink they still shut down Lucas Gaming and all associated products. Thus PERMANENTLY terminating this game. It's not like the project couldn't have been finished. That isn't uncommon.
Came back to this after what that one developer said about the game being 99% done before being cancelled. Heartbreaking what we could have had. I don't dislike the DICE Battlefronts but man, I wish we were in a timeline where we had this.
The sound effects has memories of bespin and tattoonie from the original battlefronts , if only the factions could have dialogue it would complete this BF.lll hearing the other clone say "watch out for those wrist rocket" or the CIS "Roger Roger" when command is given to follow

The game is pretty awful, I've played it and I see why it was cancelled. Though there's someone porting stuff into SWBF2 2005 I believe, which is a much better foundation to work on.

the graphics are still pretty good
obviously not the greatest fidelity in 2023, but the 3D modeling & texturing is all there & is leagues ahead of bf2

I wanna live in the timeline where we got this, KOTOR 3, Jedi Knight 3, 1313, Imperial Commando, and even the weird Darth Mail game. So much potential down the drain. I don’t even care about the new games because they’re a part of Disney canon. I just wish this universe got to continue for a little longer.
EA had all the blueprints needed to make a game very close to this. Instead, for some reason, they went for a safe remake of the series with no risks or ambition. I think that their games are unworthy of the Battlefront name. Star Wars is in a very poor creative state under disney and It's no surprise that the modern games will also reflect that reality. Everything we've seen so far has been mediocre or downright terrible.
Now all we need is the campaign but that’s gonna take a while
We don't need a campaign just a multiplayer experiences with the less bug/glitch possible. Thanks to everyone that work on this game.

Some new dude who came in trying to "fix" the company but supposedly made it worse. Then Disney came in and cancelled a bunch more project because they wanted star wars awakens more
This would’ve set the bar for EA to inevitably fall short of. All it looks like it needs is about 2-3 years of polish and graphical upgrades and you’d have the next elden ring of success stories. Polish the bugs and unfinished parts of the game, add proximity chat, add a skin system (because let’s face it they’d do it anyway) based around the clones that had unique armor paint jobs like Rex and Fives for example so that you don’t have cat eared neon pink clones running around, a custom game browser, and a Halo like forge system to add some spice to the game and longevity for endless iterations for fans to make maps on would make it 10/10.
Bare in mind, I wouldn’t know how long it would take to code and play test the ideas that I brought fourth, but I would give them as much time to make this. perfect.

This footage is more than enough reason to despise EA. They had all the blueprints needed to make the perfect game, instead they went fully JJ Abrahams and decided to play It safe by making an unambitious remake of the series. No risks, no innovation, nothing exciting. We only got pretty graphics.

What makes it sad was the game was already near completion when it was canceled all they had to do was polish and smooth out some things.
2008 would have changed multiplayer gaming as know it now. Everything we see right now stems from this.
Whatever studio behind HELLDIVERS II needs to get the rights to remake this. I don’t give a damn if they just remake Elite Squadron into a console game like it was suppose to be.
But flying in a damn frigate and detonating it from the inside while being able to run away to escape in the same match? Madness.

I'm still confused why we didn't just get star wars battlefield, I mean our original battlefront games were basically battlefield 2 anyway. Battlefield 4 but star wars would have been similar to battlefront 3

The performance defo looks smoother than the console builds via emulator
But it is the emulated build lol, he just modified the build number to say PC. You can tell it is controller aim and there's tons of decompression and emulation artefacts from Xenia.
It still has it's problems the 360 version has, with slow loading textures at the start and the framerate dipping from time to time but it tries to stay above 30 most of the time. This game was never going to run at 60fps or higher even in later builds like r9 struggled to even get to 60fps on PC.

It was 99% finished and could have been sent to the digital marketplace to save themselves. Sure it would have been a rocky launch, but they could have pushed a update out to complete it and send out physical versions after. But no cancel it instead :(
There are only Xbox versions out. This is XBOX but using PC to emulate the Xbox game. So it's not PC version.
I'm still salty about this being cancelled, even after all these years. I still don't understand their reasoning for it, and I never will.

@@SlyElliot the only build released (r7), the most recent (r9) wasn't released.
You probably should download a more recent version of the xenia emulator, and also install some patches to run the game a little better.

looks really cool. 1:18 this was immersion breaking though. A random commercial in-universe voice talking about Anakin Skywalker as if he'd be a super-hero-celebrity. He was not. People in-universe didn't talk about the different jedi all the time, handling them like superheroes. The Jedi were monk like "protectors" of peace who were (mis-)used by the republic as special military units. The common folk didn't know simple Jedi Knights by name. The thing is, besides Pod Racing we as the viewers aren't that much into what a normal in-universe person was into. It definitely varied from planet to planet. In Episode 2 we can see there are sports-bars in Star Wars too, which was kinda cool.
So sad that the closest thing to an actual battlefront game is a mod for Squadron.
