The Seaside Donkey joke did me in 😂. My family think I’m nuts, laughing out loud in the corner whilst they’re chatting round the kitchen table. These videos are gold
Great positive video. Kyle definitely more confident on camera now which is awesome to see more of his personality. Legend. My favourite cycling channel!
To be honest your videos get me out of dark places at times. Thanks for this. Only been to Velo Verde once , need to go again now. Have had a nice 40 mile ride out today around Retford in the sun, wind and a little rain. Cycling is good!
Reckon that’s my favourite video you guys have done. I loved it! Please remember to eat regularly Amy - we all want you to complete the PBP. Thanks so much for making these videos and hope your mood is lifting a bit 👍
You have the absolute best energy I've ever witnessed. You make me feel so happy just watching you guys adventure around! Keep up the incredible content and keep being perfectly you!
Swarkestone Bridge is near where you cycled; it is a major site in history and deserves an episode by itself, imo. The Jacobite Revolution ended there, almost - they turned back north, to defeat. I'm convinced they would have won if they had gone south from there, London financial panic had ensued but Britain didn't become Catholic, and Scotland was united with England to form the UK ... There had been a battle fought there earlier in the English Civil War in 1643. It has been an immensely important route between north and south England for millennia.
Amy you and the seaside donkey are absolutely brilliant, makes me laugh every time. Your passion for cycling is inspiring. Good luck for PBP can’t wait to see the video
Love the banter with the cyclists at Cafe Velo! That's what life is about PS "Bonking" is just not the right word, there needs to be two distinct words. But happily Kyle has his banana ready, And Amy is on her way to a bonk at 10:26. Bonksville happiness. In reality, I have bonked once and it was truly hideous; surely what the last moments of life feel like? Horrible. I had 5 miles to get home and lay down on the verge of the road several times with no interest/ability/desire to go further! Completely, totally, utterly exhausted. Cars stopped and asked if I was OK, had I had a heart attack, could they take me to a hospital? (really!) but the rest or break seemed to revive me for 500m and I set off again ...
Absolutely love your videos - you and Kyle are so fab - I hope you have the most amazing experience at PBP - did LEL last year and it was just brilliant - definitely advise setting a eat and drink alert on Garmin/Wahoo - it was one of the best things I did for LEL. YIIIIIPPPPPEEEEE!!!
You keep finding all these flat roads Amy. I keep meeting hills, the ones which go up! That was my Saturday!! Someone ought to produce a flat roads map of the UK 🤭
PBP is a beast of a race. Be sure to try a Paris-Brest cake while you're there. Best of luck and you'll be amazed at the smoothness and lack of potholes on French roads. I toured over 500km in June and counted only two small potholes in all that distance.
A big Yippeee form Illinois! I’m getting over a hip injury right now but managed 24 milones at a pretty good pace today. Definitely a sweaty ride. It was a great big Ding Dang Didleo ride today. Enjoy the content as always. Keep up the positive attitude, it’s infectious.
Loved the vid. On a more serious note on the topic of men's health it might be worth Kyle getting a prostate test if not already? My friend had prostate cancer and the only sign is often just going to the toilet more often. It can be an enlarged prostate or something else. But definitely worth getting checked out if not already.
That mudguard is giving me anxiety...bloomin Eck! The cafe looks amazing must pop in when back home and up the north. The chap that said he swore off Lycra has got the shortest Lycra shorts, 😮. Mounting the bike should be done with with a straight back and forward gaze...leg from floor to pedal ideally within 3 seconds.
Yet another belting video by you both. I’m contemplating getting a Topstone 2. Looks a good bike. Looking forward to the video of Paris-Brest-Paris in a few weeks. Good look and safe travels 👏
Have already dropped loads of like so not sure why I’m not subscribed yet. So will do now with the pinkie of course 😊 Particularly enjoyed Kyle’s “the codloins are spinning” and your “my saviour” lines today 😂, but hope you can avoid the bonk next time Amy. Looking forward to more of your adventures! Rooting for you both on the PBP. Am sure it’s going to be epic!
One of your best videos yet, you guys are great. Not only did you visit my favourite local cycling cafe (CVV) but you answered a 4 year old question for me, I went to that village shop with the cafe seating area to the left with a mate and really enjoyed it but could never remember where it was, but thanks to you now I do 🙏
Awesome ride Amy .. hi Kyle great support for your lady .. 👊😉🚴♥️.. bonking isn’t fun for sure 🥴🥴🍎☕️🧁🚴♀️.. love Chester …maybe some content on walking him so we can get to know your precious 🐶 one 🙃 Yes cycling is fun and social until it’s not .. head 💨 and bonking certainly can change things .. good to see you sharing the ups social side and downs not eating enough 👍🍎💕🥰
Only ever bonked once. Halfway home on my 3 mile commute from work! 😂 I had some fisherman's friends in my pocket so i had two and a sit down for a minute. When I got in i had a feast!
That's the funny thing with the "Bonk" it can strike any time any place after a fair few hours in the saddle. Sort of sneaky. Call it a lucky bonk as it will remind you to keep seriously fuelled up in for the "Big one" in a few Weeks.
Another great video, Amy & Kyle. Amy (and Kyle), why only one water bottle on your frame? Having two, plus electrolytes or even energy powder (extra carbs) can help you avoid dehydration/dizziness and le bonk by emptying one per hour! And yes, eat every hour as a minimum, a definite must for PBP. Take care out there.
Aw, love your fun videos, Amy! They stand out from the rest of the cycling channels out there!Brilliant that those guys recognised you....have you ever thought about doing merch for your channel? I would definitely buy a t-shirt with a bike on it and big letters saying, "YIPPEEEEE!" 🚲 😁 In fact, my hubby and I have started yelling yippeeeee every time we're out now!😂 xxx
Ahh thank you haha, it’s something I’m thinking about as a few people have asked about it ~ just got to organise it, probably something I’ll get done once I’m back from France after Paris-Brest-Paris ☺️ glad to hear there’s others yipeeeing 🙌 enjoy your rides x
@@amy.cycling.adventuresOoh, exciting!! Great to hear other folks are interested too! Yippeeee! 👍 All the very best for PBP, we'll be cheering you on from Scotland! 👏👏 xxx
All my life I've only ever had budget end gear, but to be fair I've never cycled any long distances. I've decided that I will, and bought myself a Ribble CGR AL. Setting it up recently the noise made from the rear hub sounded different to what I'm used to. At just over the minute mark I heard the sound from Kyle's. That sounds the same as mine, so that's one less thing for me to worry about! 🤣
Aaaw man just stumbled across this vid, brilliant… made us chuckle, so entertaining that… thank you. (Subbed and will be watching all your other vids for our evening viewing). Ace!
Eating every hour isn't very often on a long ride. Shoot for eating something every 20 mins so you can more easily digest the food. Leave the seeds out of the date balls also. That fiber won't be easily digestible while riding. That's why the pros just do rice cakes. Easy to breakdown.
I was in a bike shop years ago (as a customer) and a customer was talking to staff about how he wasn't sure about a cross bar as he couldn't swing a leg over it. I laid the bike on the floor, stepped over it and picked the bike up as I do when my broken back plays up. The customer bought the bike. Who cares how you mount as long as you're riding?
bonk a few days before PBP and you get a performance enhancement on the day of PBP. you can read how to do it online. greg Lemond used that technique a lot. Also maybe try sealant inside your tubes, to avoid punctures.
Im surprised they don't lock cycles in GB, in the US I'll lock my cycle while visiting a store for 5 min that is still in my view thru the glass. My next safety precaution will be a GPS locator hidden on cycle.
Would love to know what's the best thing to buy in the corner shop when the bonk is coming on, I always panic buy coke & chocolate but there must be something better than that.
You two are hilarious as always. Good luck with PBP, I'll be there too, really looking forward to it :) p.s. what breed is Chester, a Scottish Deerhound?
@Amy Would you be kind enough to let me know what camera were you using to record this and if you were using a wireless mic? The wind noise is really low and I'm wondering how you achieve that please? Thanks 👍
@@amy.cycling.adventures Thanks for the reply...does it have any type of foam cover on the camera or do you use a mic wind muff? Also...do you edit out any wind noise whilst editing before uploading?
Lucozade orange barley. Like rocket fuel for about 10 miles but wouldn't rely on it to get round. Gentlemen of a certain age talking to a woman of a certain age!! Making their day.
I sometimes think I should leave a bucket in the hall. I nearly always come back from rides absolutely busting, scrabbling to get my shoes off, hoping I don't wee my shorts on the way to the loo 😂😂💦
I am hypoglycemic and if I have a coffee and something sweet I’ll bonk in about an hour. My system over produces insulin and I run out of sugar. Maybe you have the same condition??
There is nothing very serious in this world like bunking even 5 km to the house. let me tell you, you won't make it everything hurts from head to toe, you can't think and you feel like you want to eat anything that comes across. 🤣all the time what I could see is Kyle's mouth moving. Kyle played you on this ride 🤣.

The Garmin food and drink reminder is a great feature. It's so easy to get caught up in the joy of the ride and forget to eat and drink.
