When I was a young boy, my brother Bob, managed "The Brazos River Ramblers", a bluegrass band. It was Stephen's band. He was in high school and I was in elementary school. Through Bob's association with him, I started taking guitar lessons from him and had a remote, lifelong friendship with Stephen. My brother, Mike, at the same period studied banjo and guitar with him. Stephen is missed by many people and this video is such a cherished and wonderful performance of a very touching song.

Dedicated to my brother Craig Hess who died Feb 12, 2022. He had a hard life and this was his favorite song to express his feelings inside

It's with deep sadness I got the news about TSB death. Since the first time I saw him smiling threw a hole Bonnie Raitt show in Gothenburg Sweden in the early 90', I've been following Stephens music. I been lucky to catch him two times solo in Sweden and once in Austin. He's music and lyrics has made me cry, smile and laugh threw the years. I never got to know him, but he felt like a friend. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Stephen

I like this song - though until today I never heard of him.
By my email friend Cindy I heard about his death. That also makes me very sad.
May all his songs live forever.
    Ruhe in Frieden Stephen .

It's from his album "What is"... often Amazon sells separate tracks. Otherwise buy the whole cd. You won't regret it.

He had a beautiful touch. A true master and by all accounts a nice man. Not a bad epitaph I guess. My man, Billy Earheart (ARA's) gives him a big 'obit' and quite right too.

I found a recording on iTunes by Tom Rush - it's certainly true to the song; but not a recording by Stephen.
