I've always wondered why (for people who primarily use their monitor to look at footage shot with 5500K sources) you wouldn't change the white point during this process, rather than leaving it at the recommended setting, but I've never had the courage to mess around with it...
At the end of the day I want my third party monitor to match the iPhone. Does the calibrated art you create look identical to iPhone? I would rather have it not perfect and match iPhone than be perfect and not match haha
Used the Spyder X Pro and hated the results, way too orange I'll have to double-check everything but man for it to get so bad looking first try was a bummer.
That's a great question. Some monitors come well calibrated from the factory, but I think all monitors tend to shift over time. I am not an expert in this stuff at all though.
@@Josh_Sattin exactly, but there are monitors with an integrated calibration system. It sits in the bezels and comes down and calibrates automatically from time to time..

Yeah I lost my last color checker and haven't done this in years. Now I'm making videos I should really adjust my monitors. 👌

my M1 Pro won't save the calibration profile for some reason
thanks a lot for the tutorial, but on Sonoma the profile wasn't saved in Mac Display Settings :( Any Clue?

I bought the more expensive one and returned it, lousy color science
