Thanks for posting! (I realize it was four years ago). This thing would work great for me! I can stand and walk but I can't get up from the floor. I'm actually going to try to build one similar but with a few minor modifications. No floor, a bit shorter and a couple cart wheels so it can be tilted and moved around. Hi Mark, I don't check my youtube site very often so just noticed your post. Please let me know if I can answer any questions and good luck with your project. I built this one for a friend of mine who lives in a public housing high-rise and without it would be forced to move to an assisted living home and loose his independence; he has used it several times over the years. I did change the pulleys to a slightly larger "off the shelf" type as the marine pulleys were designed for rope and the steel cable cut into there sides; they still worked, but for safety I went with 2 inch galvanized heavy duty pulleys. I'm trying to build a lift for my 88 yrs old Mother. These underarm loops wouldn' t work for her frail skeletal body and would cause damage to her shoulders. If I build some kind of wrap around her torso then I may break her ribs. Growing old sucks.

I want to make one for my Mother. She has no legs. Just looking for something easy to make. Great lift.
I use the same motor to lift me up from bed, bathroom, etc. Im thinking to convert the controller from wire to a bluetooth system.
