Agree. Relationships change on the passion front, especially after 30 years! Very unrealistic expectation. The love deepens as the passion takes a back seat.
I'm 67 and don't date. I haven't even been interested in dating since my ex blindsided me with a divorce after 20 years of marriage. I have absolutely no desire to be the retirement plan for a woman. Women cause most of the divorces, so I say let them live alone, buy a few truck loads of cheap wine, and start taking in more cats. In the meantime, I'll enjoy my retirement traveling around in Europe. à bientôt.
If you have to ask how to find passion and romance while dating at any age you've discovered the problem. It's interesting how many disconnected people are searching for love and romance without knowing the basic concepts of how to accomplish this.
I'm 68, and I couldn't ever imagine dating this late in life, never married, and don't need the expense, drama of dealing with dating now -- no payoff here
If I am truly living my best life, why do I need to complicate it with a woman? It seems to me that, to truly have a "best life", one would need a companion. Otherwise you're just compensating for the lack of one.
I married a girl from an online dating service that no longer exists. We were married for 18 years before she left me for an Italian. And, she took everything I had.
One thing they didn't say. A man only dates a woman over a certain age, if he doesn't think he can anyone younger. Result is, 60 year old women are stuck either with 50+ losers or guys in their 80s.
Ooops! I fumbled my retirement plan, because I was “bored”. Now I’m trying to find a replacement sponsor on the dating market, only to find that the prospects are only interested in a tumble in the hay. I never thought leopards would eat MY face
Definitely gets more complicated with age, but if she is "looking for a true connection and a lasting relationship," maybe she's better off lowering her expectation (at least) to get some joy out of life, instead of being fixated in her own mind, or even fantasy, to what a relationship should be that centers around her belief's. Because let's face it, before going into the dating scene with the opposite, she could have some awareness to the nature of the animal and why desired sex from a man quickly or slowly comes up. After that, there is character, which separates the disciplined with tact and manners, from the undisciplined without tact and manners, along with all the gray areas in between. This is tricky, as it's not so readily revealed. It takes risk, effort, and patience in pursuing a relationship. It starts by looking at motive over connection. Also, look for those who have something going for them where you can relate to, be it work, hobby, interest, values, and finances that align with you. Build from there. And if that doesn't work out, default to the previously mentioned in making the best of things to get the most out of life keeping discouragement at bay. Yet, we can look at it another way as we come into this world alone and leave the world alone, thus we can always appreciate and embrace solitude for our own well being and peace of mind. If you love solitude, then you need not worry about connection and lasting relationship, and if you do achieve that connection and lasting relationship by putting in the work (although, really, there is no such thing as a lasting relationship because time and death prohibit it) coupled with solitude makes for a well adjusted person, be it woman or man.
At least the guy was honest up front. No need to bash him for that. Lots of guys at that age are looking for the same thing. Some women too. No such thing as a soulmate.
It is not only older men who want a friend who is also a bed buddy. There are plenty of women who want an occasional date or just some company once in a while, but want that "go to" guy for that purpose as opposed to having multiple partners. But in order for that to work, you have to be someone's bed buddy, AND they have to be your bed buddy too. Uni- directional relations in that regard never work out. Whatever the arrangement, both people need to be on the same page otherwise you have power struggles or misunderstanding.
what in heck made you divorce after 35 years ,,,just because the passion was gone. What the heck is wrong with the women these days,,,,'THE PASSION WAS NOT THERE' What a bunch of bunk, these women will be crying on the internet in a year or so saying oh i did not know how good i had it and my ex was a great guy. It's the same as women want. She said it. She wants passion. She had the opportunity to get what she wants, but decided to put conditions on it up front. She did not get what she wants. Of course, the guy should have approached it differently too. Shut the F up and just give her what she wants! Passion! Good sensible advice. By chance, do to my work I started to cross paths with people in the last cycle of the human experience we call life. I am soooo disappointed I thought when you get to your 60s and older all that wisdom, all the experiences will make a person self assured, confident knowing what they want. But instead, I see drama queens I thought the term "teenage drama " was over at that age but no! Women in their 60s and older completely LOST IN SPACE/NO COMPASS, needy, clingy, even nosy/meddling in their grown children family units, and some in desperation getting into financial/emotional abusive relationships because of loneliness. I think of my own grandmother's and I am proud of them; none of such nonsense. Ayooo she should have stayed w her husband lol leaving because she’s bored. They don’t get it! 😂
I agree, poor excuse to get divorced….seems she should have worked harder to make it better…
Exactly!!
Imagine being gutted financially in a divorce because she was bored.
After the Panels advice, I bet she is still alone and this is 4 years later.
I clean crappers on the home front. Can she do the same?

When men tell women what we want from women, women don't believe us. They always think there's some secret we're trying to hide.
