Jim, I have to tell you this was probably my most favorite video so far from your trip (strange choice, I know haha). The views were magnificent; the footage was excellent; the music was PERFECT; and the ending was superb. I really enjoyed the ending...a lot. I downloaded this track as soon as I finished watching the video. I'm really looking forward to seeing your other CA 1 videos. Again, awesome job, man! Favorited without hesitation!
Great coverage of the highway and the southbound tunnel! I failed to realize what a substantial mountain was behind me when I covered the northbound ride! Stunning views of the Pacific too!
Wonderful video!! Thank you so much for that ride and the beautiful scenery-I especially enjoyed the bonus footage of the Pacific Ocean !!! How relaxing too. What a beautiful ocean !! You did a great job on this video; Definitely a place worth visiting!! I enjoy watching your videos my friend 🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍
The Tom Lantos tunnels were a long time in waiting . When I was growing up there in Pacifica cars would go over the side at Devil's Slide , especially at night when the fog was in and someone was killed . Head on crashes after the road was narrowed because of mud and landslides were pretty common and tied up traffic for miles . Also back in the day the wail of a police car siren was uncommon in the Terra Nova - Park Pacifica area but it's changed so much it's an everyday occurrence .
Great last video from a awesome serie dedicated to the San Francisco Bay Area. I think I will continue to watch this lot of videos several times. A bit sad to leave this city, but very curious about the rest of your trip. Very original, the end!
One of my favorite sections of urban freeway in California...that view of the Pacific Ocean along CA 1, right before you drop into Pacifica. I have a hard time understanding how people would bag on California, when there's just so much beautiful scenery to discover. Loved the song, by the way!
Great video, as usual. One of the things the video can't convey, however, is the fantastic "forest-y" smell (in my opinion) that envelops Highway 1 as you leave Pacifica and enter the trees (at 3:30 in the video). Always loved that smell.
Great video. Having been to the southern shore of England in Southampton, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight Brighton, Folkestone, Dover, and the White Cliffs themselves, numerous times in my life, that video doesn't come close to catching the awesome splendor of a coast. Still a great ending to a great video
Well, *sniff* I will miss *sniff* San Francisco. I will never *sniff* forget all those videos on UA-cam. I love *sniff* the music, the video, & the bonus video. Thanks Freewayjim. *Starts crying tears of joy* :)
Lovely video! I might have to make this drive sometime. I've been on 1 south of Monterey down to Lompoc, though not all at once. Gorgeous! My favorite Bay area view inland is 680 to 101 south - the height of the ramp to accommodate the interchange makes for a cool view. Also, since you like Satriani, i'd like to suggest a listen to Godfrey Townsend, whose sound is somewhere between Satriani and Eric Clapton. He's from New York, and his CD is called Easy Journey to Other Planets.
I still remember Pacifica, used to have friend that used to live there, and their home used to be only a few miles from the ocean there, it always used to make it so cold at times even during their Summer that they had there........
Two points about this video...First I want to thank you for turning me onto Joe Satriani. Now I cant stop listening. Secondly, haven't been on that road in about 30 years when my brother lived in Pacifica. Happy that the tunnel was built almost lost my life on the Devils Slide which it replaced. Cant wait for your next trip...
Thank you. The next video from Santa Cruz is technically in the SF Bay Combined Statistical Area for Population purposes but a good 50 miles away at the same time. Glad you enjoyed the videos.
I never realized that not only is the Bixby Bridge worthy of a mileage sign, but that it's only 19 miles south of Monterey. Heck, we could have gone down that far a couple of months ago.
Fantastic video; Im just wondering, was the bonus footage taped near that tunnel?? Ive heard theres plans for maybe a walking and biking trail using some of the old road.
Too bad Novato Narrows is still mess, ongoing construction, north 101 is now heavy as early as 2pm each weekday, and from 11am on a Saturday on North 101. Adding that 3rd lane won't come soon enough. It's helped east 580 over the Richmond Bridge.
Freewayjim I wish u can get enough time, money and energy to shoot driving video there someday ! I also like the music you choose ! Energetic and actually gives the video so much fun! I also like driving but I just cannot make such videos because my digital devices restrict me to do so... but thank god you did! Happy for u!
I've lived in the west for a while now and I have nothing but love for Route 66. That said, with all due respect to it...the PCH is the REAL "mother road."
@@frances3254 You can follow the road on Google Street view and get all the markers you need, I stick with the major signs so as not to muddy the screen, less is more, again, this is not a "Travel Guide" although many have told me the videos are helpful. Sun. Ocean, California. And you got new Satriani track in. Nice job!

Thank you Tracy, that was our first "Up Close and Personal" encounter with the Pacific, it definitely is beautiful!

FWJ Your channel's one of the best on YT! Nice job
Thank you very much!
Loved it, born and raised in Pacifica, the video made me quite homesick.

Love these vids!! I feel like I traveled America just by watching your videos!! Keep em coming Freewayjim!!
For once I can say your travelling on roads I have been on - back in 1992! Such magnificent views and a wonderful drive
Awesome video!
NICE ride- always liked the Pacific- you had beautiful days for filming my friend! Just impressive! Great video!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked this one, it definitely was a neat drive to experience, thanks to Brent for the suggestion. Glad you liked the tune too.

J MART Thank you!
Magnificent views of the Pacific! I remember this CA 1 highway but it was in 1995 and the tunnel didn't exist yet :)
Thanks, yes that was a very special visual there, must be seen in person to appreciate it.
Thank you! yes it was in the high 70's, perfect weather.
Where do you use the song “Lola’s Theme” by The Shapeshifters?

Great video. I live in Pacifica and I have not been through the Lantos tunnel yet. Now I know what it is like. Thank you!
Thanks

Thanks, the tunnel and approaching bridge is very cool!
1:50.... just wowwwww ... and thanks for the bonus footage!
Awesome ride. And a great view at the end (plus seeing what car you drive!)
Is there an upcoming video at/around the Bixby Bridge?
Love this!
LOL you're welcome, don't miss the ride to LA and the SoCal videos, they came out very nice!
Beautiful video man, I really enjoyed it very beautiful scenery I love cali so much! Keep it up man!
Thanks, I did get to see some of it (Downtown San Jose), just didn't do any filming for various reasons.

nice views and nice weather too i wish i where there with my wife
Thanks for the ride.
Thanks, the bonus footage is from a pull over about a mile or two so south of the Tunnel...right were we pulled off at the end of the video.
It is the beautiful sea. I want to go for a drive sometime here.
Nice car Jim! Lol. Thats an awesome road. I want to drive that one day.
The Best! Thank you very much!
Thank you!
thats georgeous!
Thank you! I think the next few videos and Southern California are just as good if not better!
Need to go back to San Antonio... construction is done. Last time I was there was 2015 in the summer!
1:43 beautiful view of ocean😊
Thanks!
Thank you!
Thanks, about 110 Miles south on CA-1 blows this away, and there will be a video of it.
Thank you, my big CA-1 video is coming next Friday the 27th.
Heavy ocean surf in 3... 2... 1. Good work guys!

Dear freewayjim,
Would you please film some video in Sacramento which is in California I would be proud if you did if not that fine
Sorry, I don't have anything from Sacramento, it just hasn't worked out timewise, no telling when I'll be back that way.
Ok that fine
Thanks
Thanks Kyle!
Thanks, The real splendor of the coast is 110 miles to the south.
Santa Cruz is next then I'll make my way down the coast on CA-1 and US-101 and then the Los Angeles and San Diego areas for a while.
Fantastic video; Im just wondering, was the bonus footage taped near that tunnel?? Ive heard theres plans for maybe a walking and biking trail using some of the old road.
Hey Jim what areas do you drive through next?

Have you already travel each state in US???? Really incredible!!!!!
Yes except for Alaska and Hawaii and I have no desire to go there.
Freewayjim why not? Going there will make ur channel complete! I really appreciate ur driving skills and your courage!
#1 Too far to drive, would have to fly with all my gear #2 Not interested enough in either place to deal with #1.
Thank you very much!

nice video :)
That Taco Bell Cantina you drove past at Pacifica might be the best in the country, it’s on a beach and they serve alcohol there.
Thanks for watching!
nice video 👍👍👍
Thank you.
I've lived in the west for a while now and I have nothing but love for Route 66. That said, with all due respect to it...the PCH is the REAL "mother road."
They look to be one-lane tunnels. Could two lanes fit?
not much traffic here when did you film this
That info is posted in the closing credits (Wed 6/12/13 at 1:15 PM)
Check! Thank you.
No, they are indeed one lane tunnels, I doubt they would ever widen CA-1 in that area.
You're welcome.
Thanks, wish my wife could have seen it too but she doesn’t like long road trips.
I used to live in Pacifica .
What state do you live in Georgia or Connecticut
Georgia, I've never lived in Connecticut.
The camera never does justice to anywhere
8years!!! what on earth were the workers doing.
Nice vid, too bad you didn't get to see the South Bay
There's a beach at Devil's Slide and in the 1970s it was a nude beach.
I know exactly what you're talking about. Love that smell, too!
That was a fictional mileage sign but I felt it was worth being on one so I made it.
why racing???? would be so helpful to see road markers as I'll be traveling that way soon.
I'm not racing....I'm not sure you get what the theme of this channel is, it's certainly not a step by step-by-step tour guide.
@@Freewayjim You're right....I don't get it.
