Man, I positively ADORE this film. It’s goofy, creepy, funny, scary, sincerely badass, and manages to juggle all of these themes with gusto. All while managing to have an engaging story, and well-acted characters to boot.
But who would have guessed that a Tales From the Crypt movie of all things would actually manage to be tasteful in its representation, and subversion of tropes?
I suppose that having a production team that cares makes a world of difference.
i an considering writing a script about a black "final girl" but it has been a bit of a struggle. so it was very encouraging find something like this. will definetly add it to the watchlist

Thank you for pointing out the bit about how she was in her underwear yet not filmed in a sexualized fashion; it's just one of the many things that has made this movie feel like it's aged SO much better than most 90s and early 2000s media.

Also, maybe the cat had a cut scene, or they wanted to keep something like that open to tie into a sequel somehow?
Wonderful commentary! I don’t watch a ton of horror movies so the tropes are still very unknown to me. The idea of a final girl really appeals to me. Fascinating stuff

I saw Horror Noire while in college and while I can't handle Horror Demon Knight was one of the movies that really caught my attention and I loved it (after i powered through the all gore and stuff lol)

Just watched this movie last week and while watching loved the idea of Jeryline surviving and becoming the protagonist, but doubted it would ever happen in 90’s mainstream cinema. So by the end I was delightfully surprised. I was wondering why so few people talked about this fun cool movie, so I am really happy to see it receiving some love. I would simply LOVE a spin-off series like you suggested. Great video!

Jada in her beater and panties covered in blood = ICONIC. I've been waiting for a sequel almost my whole life at this point.
Edit: just rented it tonight and watched it for the first time in probably over a decade! Jada does have what looks to be a cat carrier when she's getting on the bus, but they shoulda showed Cleo to solidify it.
If they make a sequel that has Jeryline return and die this time (though I hope not), then I would hope the new demon knight after her could be another Black woman or at least another woman of color

Bordello of blood was so bad even the people who made it hated it. I watched the making of documentaries for both movies and the contrast. Demon knight had all the praise and bordello everyone was ashamed. If the director had gotten their first choice of actors like Robin Givens as the head vampire it could've been better.

Oh my god, you're totally right! This should definitely be a tv series. But in today's creative climate it would be ~*dark & edgy*~ with none of the campiness and fun :(
The tone would need to be like Ash vs the Evil dead. It was just as wacky and full of gore as the movies.

Jada pinkett Smith was perfect for this movie im surprised there never was a sequel to this film
P.S, the last time we see the cat was when she is taken upstairs in the attic. After the collector is killed and the big explosion happens, can't we conclude the cat died after the house caught on fire? 😂. Jada's character survived because of the blood.

I believe the cat Cleo survived because when Jeryline (Jada) is seen getting on the bus, you can also see her picking up a small box like a small animal crate. It had cleo inside and Jeryline was taking her cat with her while she had the 7th key!
