  • We take delivery of our latest project car, a 1995 Toyota Landcruiser FJ80!
    This vehicle was found sitting under a tree grove for several years. A deal was worked out with the owner and we brought it home.
    Stay tuned for part 2 where we clean the interior and start refreshing the mechanical bits.

    I rescued a triple lock Lexus LX450 with 500,000 miles that was abandoned. Best vehicle I have ever owned. I found that the EGR valve had to be removed and the carbon cleaned out of the intake passages then reinstall the EGR valve. Also, Marlin Crawler make a heavy duty front axle seal that stops the differential fluid from leaking into the wheel bearing grease causing wheel bearing failure. The Birfield front solid axle will leak out onto the ground if this seal is compromised so do yourself a favor and get the Marlin Crawler seal. I am a Vietnam Era Vet' and I have owned a lot of vehicles. FJ80 Series is my all time favorite without question. Buy one if you can find one.

    Absolutely awesome trucks. With such low miles you can expect 25k-30k for it easy. Congrats she deserves a refresh.

    After so many years starting the engine with couple of drops of oil in every cylinder should be smarter thing to do 👍 Every engine starts after many years , the problem is the pistons rings are probably completely dry and they can scratch the surface of the cylinder pretty fast.

    Yes those are factory sliders.

    • @realaussiemale567
      @realaussiemale567 3 роки тому +2

      They aren’t sliders, they’re side steps. Try brushing up against immovable large rocks and those flimsy steps will crumple like plastic and you’ll, more than likely, cause serious damage to the sills. Then it becomes a real problem.

    Who abandons a LandBruiser, unless it’s too damaged to be anything but scrap?

      Previous owners were not mechanics, the power steering repair bill from Toyota would have been an easy $2500 alone. I refurbished most all the mechanicals and have it back on the road with its new owner.

    Looks like its a 85. Final edition. Diesel version of this would be still about $50,000 in where I live.

  • @realaussiemale567
    @realaussiemale567 3 роки тому

    In Australia we’d probably scrap that. It’s not a diesel and that takes a lot of the value out of it. You could spend $25k on it and not get that back in the resale value……seriously. May be a different story in the U.S.

      They go for 15-25 here in any kind of reasonable shape.

      @@wheelsforgotten9049 In Europe also the gasoline engines are not that expensive. You can buy one at around 17k with only 80k miles on it. On the other hand 4.2 diesel with manual transmission good condition goes up to 40k here. I just found one 4.2 diesel manual with 250k miles body needs work, engine runs great and clean. The owner wants 4k and I'm thinking it's worth around 2.5k. The owner id a farm owner and the LC is being used for pulling trailers 13000lbs and it even have a airbrakes for trailer.
