I’m watching all your videos from the start. Would be good to see an updated version of this video where you show what you have now e.g. Ran down jacket, scarpa boots
Buy cheep Buy twice is generally a rule but i'm finding with some of the lower cost / new entry companies like OEX and North Ridge that if you buy Wise you can get some amazing quality bargains. My North Ridge 4 season down jacket with 800 fill down for less than £80 from Blacks was an absolute steal. Also a wise point on boots. If you use full grain leather boots like i have done up to now If you keep the uppers in good condition you can resole the boots. I bought my Scarpa SL's in 2004 as i needed a sturdier boot for climbing Kilimanjaro. I've since worn the sole units out twice and had them resoled for less than £80 I did the same with my rock climbing boots years back as i was skint as hell back then and that was the only option to keep on climbing. N.B. I have massive outsize feet (UK15 BX extra wide so boots in 16 are hard to come by) so i resole everything... It's cheap and great quality. You can even tailor the sole unit to the type of terrain you are going for. You dont have to have big feet to resole, Just keep you booots in condition and when the time comes get it done. The best thing about doing this is YOU DONT HAVE TO BREAK THE BOOTS IN. You get the benefits of comfy boots with brand new soles out of the box!!!
I've been wild camping for eons now lol and the kit I use is towards the higher end and lightweight. But we all started somewhere and I thought your video was great and for most the budget gear works a treat.
As for boots .I highly recommend the north ridge leather boots from go out doors on offer at the moment down from £110 to £80 I've just bought my second pair as I've worn my first out on work site every day for a year and a half (normally I get 10 - 12 months from a pair of boots .so thesehave been excellent . Big recommend.
Great idea for a video! I've been stung with a slow puncture on the UL80 as well, the comfort isn't worth pumping it up every hour, wish I'd splurged a bit more up front. The budget ice flame quilt and Lanshan 1 I'm chuffed with mind, still in my rotation
Yeah i was adamant the ul80 was a great bit of kit for the money but once you get the dreaded air leak its game over for it. Thanks for the comment mate
Great advice mate 👍 we all like to save the pennies, and when we are starting out we may not realise that isn't necessarily the best thing to do. Cheers for sharing your knowledge, this will be a lot of help to many people, take care bud 😊😊🙏🙏
Just replaced my Rab microlight with the Decathlon Forclaz MH100 which is nearly identical to the MH ghost whisperer except it’s £200 cheaper 😂 and had it on this morning in -4c and it’s genuinely warmer than the Rab mate Nice video .. subscribed 👍🏻
Yeah can’t go wrong with the decathlon gear mate, really happy with my Forclaz down jacket, tempted to even get the thinner 1 for summer. Thanks for subscribing 👍🏼
@joshuascott3526 yes mate it comes with adapters and i use the rubber adapter wuen pumping the UL80.. my friend still uses mine that Trekology replaced.
It's crazy how we go cheap to start out and the pieces are actually decent but we move on for one reason or another. I've replaced just about everything in my pack (and the pack itself) but only a few because of how it worked. Not sure I had any failures but my poop trowel didn't work well. I had a pack that was just uncomfortable and shows that were the same.
Thats it mate, and to be honest its sometimes nice to switch it up a bit with different bits of kit, even if not necessarily stuff thats actually needed. What rucksack you using at the moment mate? Gonna buy a lighter 1 after the winter.
@@GoodBlokeOutdoors sorry, meant shoes* that weren't comfortable either. I have a few packs but active rotation is Gossamer Gear Mariposa 60L for heavier loads and I just got in a Zpacks Nero 38L for my UL load out. Btw, saw Pauly Messner liked a recent IG post of yours. Congrats! That's big time recognition!
@@DaveOffGrid thanks bud, to be fair he actually liked and commented on 1 of my first videos which i was surprised at, think it was my kinder scout woolpacks video😅
How do you deal with your down sleeping bags getting wet from condensation on multi day hikes? I'm thinking of getting a down bag but this is the only thing I'm worried about
Usually depends on the tent mate, worst i’ve had is a bit of the foot-box wet from when my feet have brushed against the inner when i’ve been using the Hilleberg Soulo in winter, but nothing too major. You can help prevent this by sticking bottom of ur sleeping bag inside ur zipped waterproof jacket 👍🏼
Totally agree mate , I should of probably mentioned that i keep them in the huge storage bags that they came with ( not compression sack ) i just put them back in this for purpose of the video. Thanks for the comment mate
Me abd my dad found this out tbe hard way when starting a landscaping company. Buy stihl. Fu k s everything else except honda mowers. Silky for tree pruning. So sharp. In short Germans for engineering Japanese for engines and blades.
Good informative video that pal 👍
Cheers pal 👍🏼

Aye thats it mate, slowly upgrade my kit over time. Really happy with what I have so far. Thanks for the comment mate
Got the Decathlon jacket and head torch myself, a cracking bit of kit for the money.
Certainly is mate, really like that down jacket, for the money you’l struggle to get any down jacket as good.
Quality mate, definitely do a few more of these type vids
Cheers Stu 👍🏼
Excellent video mate, just started to watch them all. I like your sense of humour and I like the gear videos you do as well. Keep up the good work.

You’re welcome , i appreciate you taking the time to comment 👍🏼 thank you
Camping moon makes a soto winmaster clone that outperforms the original and is compatible with propane with an adapter. And it's cheap.

What’s the saying ‘buy once cry once’.👍 and don’t blow into your pump sack when inflating your thermarest,it knacks the technology inside it.👍
I don’t suppose you know if you can use the flex tail pumps for that specific air mat buddy
@joshuascott3526 yes mate it comes with adapters and i use the rubber adapter wuen pumping the UL80.. my friend still uses mine that Trekology replaced.
You’ve got some top gear now bro, I replaced that sleeping mat of mine because it weighed about 80kg and took 6 hours to inflate
Cheers bro yeah spent a fair bit but worth it now iv got gear to last many years
80 quid is cheap when compared on the best gear but 80 quid when you're on a budget is a fair price tag ,
quality video mate, new sub from thee.
Thanks buddy cheers for watching & subscribing

My best advice is keep your sleeping bag unravelled on a coat hanger high up & not in any stuff sack or bags
