Watching your videos is such an enjoyable experience, Isa. Just as I’m working to reinforce my long-standing journaling habit at the start of the new year, your inspiring videos showed up at the perfect time. I want to share how much your system of tracking daily thoughts and ideas has influenced me. I started journaling back in my senior year of high school, and it’s brought me so much comfort ever since. (By the way, I’m your friend from China-hello! xx) My journaling system has expanded a lot since then. What started as simple nightly reflections has now grown into three parts: Day One app for real-time daily logs and little ideas. A “serious journal” for weekly/monthly summaries, reviews, and planning ahead. A casual notebook for freeform thoughts and creative expressions. These practices give me a sense of control over my life, and it’s one of the reasons I feel so connected to you. (I won’t tell you how many times I’ve read Normal People-twice, once in Chinese and once in English-and watched the series, let’s just say a lot! I’m planning to re-read Beautiful World, Where Are You too.) I feel so lucky that the algorithm led me to your channel. You’re amazing, and I don’t put you into any specific category because your potential feels limitless. It’s such an honor to witness the growth of your channel. Lastly, and this is very important-please read! I started reading seriously quite late, so I don’t have much experience with classics yet. My focus has been on modern and contemporary literature. But for 2025, I’m fully ready-both mentally and in terms of my environment-to dive into the classics. Your videos have been a huge inspiration for me in this area. You’re incredible!
You did a great job with the video, it’s packed with a lot of valuable information! I resonate with your point about the lack of confinements journalling has, that’s the beauty in it; the limitless range of personal expression allows for your creativity to truly reveal itself. It’s a liberating feeling, even though it can feel overwhelming at times, especially when you’ve got 50 dollars worth of stickers to blast through, lol. The insight you shared about how it’s beneficial to restrain yourself if you feel an urge to look back at recent entries as a way to avoid rehashing their emotional associations is really unique. It’s fascinating to think about viewing past entries as relics to be reflected upon in the future, and I can see how that perspective would build anticipation and excitement; it elevates the process of being potentially redundant and emotionally cyclic to something incredibly enlightening and personally meaningful. Have you found that viewing entries as relics has changed the way you approach your journaling process overall?
I love your lineup!! I started up again with analog journaling (swapping from notion) last year and grew into a larger size journal for 2025. This video was perfect timing. Is your first journal cover from paper republic? 🥰
Have you ever thought of the idea of naming your journal as a friend? It was Anne Frank whom I learned the idea from (She named her journal as "Kitty"). I started to journal this recent month. and I decided to name my Journal, "Anne." So now I have Anne as a friend to write to. (It might be a bit weird, I would say. But yeah, I did it 😅)
