- Iowa's forests and parks are under siege, their combatant? Invasive Species. When a foreign plant finds itself in a new environment, with no natural defenses to rein it, a species can quickly become an overwhelming pest that can threaten the very future a native ecosystem.

But we NEED to SAVE our TREES!! IF it means clear-cutting..sad but necessary!
I cut down an invasive vine in my woods every 2 weeks. This does keep it under control.
You need to use goats to graze it for 3 years. Guaranteed your invasive species and weeds will die.

Then, clear cut it and treat the stumps of the invasives with herbicides. Clear the vines off the trees. Sell what trees you can for timber and sell the rest for firewood.
Dousing an area like backbone with glyphosate?
I understand the goal but, seriously?
When you take the Pesticide applicator exam you learn how common it is to use harsh chemicals in many circumstances. Sometimes it is really worth it.
@@1astallman do we know what effect it has on all the other species though? I mean would think I would rather see volunteers going in and weeding out rather than risking death and ecological disruption for all of the other species that would be affected by glyphosate.
