as someone who is from the iowa tribe, thank you to these good folks for respecting and caring for the burial mounds of my relatives. i'm sure your farm is and has been blessed because of your kind and thoughtful nature 💓
I would love to sit down and talk with this guy. I am attempting the same thing and learning as I go, I am not comfortable burning, do mow down sections each fall to help. I got a ton of milkweed and some tall grasses, but working on adding more diversity.
Dan, burning isn't that bad if you do it correctly and under right conditions. I am trying to restore only 5 or so acres and enjoying the heck out of this project. Best wishes.
Several large scale native plant operations do grow in "production plots" and "production fields" Videos and channels to look up for these: - Ion Native Seed Exchange (Iowa) - Prairie Moon (Wisconsin) - Roundstone Native Seed (Kentucky) - Hamilton Native Outpost (Southern Missouri / Ozarks)
Some common species like Indiangrass and Blazing Star do lend themselves to seed harvest at scale. Some others, like said Rattlesnake Master and Red Milkweed need more attention.

I know these folks. Great people and a tour of their prairie and wetlands is a special treat if you are in the Spencer area.
God bless these folks
Thank you God for being with us
Absolutely LOVE this video and these wonderful people! I'm going to look into taking a tour. The prairie is so beautiful!

American Heroes!
Very cool guy
I'm having trouble finding seed
why doesn't he just grow each species in a designated row?
That's not how prairies work
@@baeballeverwizard this is more than just a prairie. the last word in the title should give that away.
For the sheer joy of working with a working tallgrass prairie!
