  • we are building a deck and pergola in this video as part of a full backyard makeover! We tear out an existing patio to make room for a larger, more functional deck with a beautiful pergola covering over it. The deck features a built in bar and fireplace with a TV over it. The pergola is covered with a polycarbonate cover to create a dry deck space underneath of it. Hope you like this backyard makeover and get some ideas for your own deck and pergola project!

    Nice work as always.
I have a question and would greatly appreciate your feedback:
Why do many homeowners choose not to level, gravel (or cement), and insulate the space beneath their decks before installing the wooden structures? Is it primarily due to financial constraints? Additionally, is it true that skipping these steps could potentially lead to dampness in the basement over time?

Hey Sean. Been watching you now for a few years. Great work as always. Nearly finished building my own house (in Scotland so a bit of a travel for you guys to do the back yard). How do you come up with your designs? Is it collaborative or is mostly yourself? How much input do you look to get from the customer? Can you be swayed by their thoughts? Thanks. Always look forward to your videos. Top work.

We used to fold corners a couple of years ago. We stopped because the corner would crack literally the first winter. Same everything, tried all different glues also.
Have you followed up a year later? Most homeowners are blind to these issues that arise.

We do and we have yet to have one crack! What product were you using? We use Deckorators and haven’t had an issue.

@THEpremieroutdoor Trex, I don't use it anymore. I think material is complete garbage, the quality just isn't there

What are the transparent sheets that you put on top of the pergola called? Where can I get them? And is it flat? Where does the water go when it rains?

The patio fireplace is taking up too much unnecessary space. Should have been 2 feet deep and the length was okay.

Please show a last video and not a time-lapse video for the end result, for those of us who have been watching from the beginning we don't need to see it all over again. Thank you from the UK

Appreciate you watching them all!! Would a final walkthrough video be cool? At the end of the last video we were 99% done so there isn’t much to show after that

Curious why you think its not functional 🧐

    • @Rusty-Shackleford69

@THEpremieroutdoor My opinion isn't based on craftsmanship.
To me, functional would be 3 seasons. The fireplace and pit on the table with walls seems to not be very functional.✌️
