David, when you were in Milo’s walking on the white rocks, you said you didn’t want to go tumbling all the way down into the ocean. THEN you said “I’m sure there are a few people who would like to see me fall into the sea and get hurt, but I personally don’t want to“. My heart broke for you that you feel or know of those kinds of nasty hurtful people. 😡😔 You and Ben are so lovely, entertaining and oh so funny. I watch your videos all the time, and am inspired to start cruising. Always listen to the good, kind and positive, and ignore all the negativity. They are just wasting energy. Know that there are way more people out there who love you both and can’t wait for your next cruise 😁 Going to Canada anytime soon 😂😂 Lisa xx
My new favourite YT channel. They are so funny and informative. This cruise looks amazing. Made me immediately look up Celstyal cruises but it looks like all their cruises include a 3 day prior stay in Athens which really doesn't appeal :(
As a Santorinian, I am so happy that a couple like you that has travelled so much, loved and said such good things about my home island! I hope you will come come back someday and go to other “hidden gem” places on the island! Enjoy the rest of your holidays!
Being Irish myself (Republic of Ireland) and living 21 years in the U.K., I loved the sign about the English Breakfast that had all the names of the U.K. supermarkets mentioned - I also noticed that there was an Irish pub on the island of Santorini, as well as a Catholic Church, even though most of Greece is Greek Orthodox
The donkeys are certifiably insane. It was STRONGLY suggested to us that we take the cable cars instead as the donkeys go down beside the cable cars, at least they did about 30 years ago and are so afraid they try to get as close to the wall as possible so you may not have a leg left on the side near the wall.
I'd definitely choose Celestyal over Royal Caribbean, the smaller ship just so much more peaceful and both the food and atmosphere looks amazing. It's also really nice seeing a smaller ship cruiseline which is on the more affordable end of the spectrum, when cruising on a budget usually means having to go with MSC or some other low cost, huge ship type cruiseline. I spent a week in Crete in 2015 and we had a bunch of kitties visiting the hotel daily and while they were shy, they were not hostile by any means and they were so cute! I did get to pet a kitty during my stay as well, though it was by a nunnery up in the mountains between the north and south part of the island. The hotel kitties would at times walk close to you but they didn't quite dare to get petted, I loved seeing them though, cats are just amazing!
Thank you Ben for speaking up for the donkeys. We’ve seen some videos taken there of how poorly the donkeys are treated. It’s so heartbreaking. Thank you again Ben and happy cruising from your subscribers, Brad and Roxanne in Carlsbad California!
It’s very unlikely we will ever visit the Greek islands and even if we did mobility would be a big issue. Your videos give the feeling of a taste of actually visiting. Thanks!
You might want to look at Rhodos or Crete, I've visited the latter and it worked well for me as an ambulatory wheelchair user. I was in a small town near Rethymno. I wasn't doing excursions though other than one by minibus to a beach on the south side of the island and that excursion was arranged by the small hotel I was staying at. My stay in Crete was a chill by the pool or chill on the beach type trip. It can work very well, depending on how much mobility you have and what level of physical accessibility you need, and also what you want to do. If you just want to relax and eat good food, it is likely to work out very well, but if you want to explore and visit mountainside villages, ancient ruins etc, it may be more challenging or even impossible simply because of location. The hotel I stayed at was quite literally across the street from the beach and I could have used my wheelchair to go to the little shop or go to the beach if needed, but thanks to the short distances and warm temperatures (about 34-35C in daytime) my body felt well enough to walk. The beach I went to didn't have ramps or beach wheelchairs as far as I could see, but yeah, if you're ambulatory it works well
can understand my mom was on whellchair and haves problem walking in Santorini also some Tuscany hill towns i love she hates but Mykonos,Crete and Corfu was great
Just a quick side-comment : I usually don't like when reviews take too much time over food (even if I like to have an overview of what's to eat, obvioulsy), but you guys are so genuinely happy when you cross over good food that he makes me happy as well, just as looking at you 🙂 Great review overall and I will consider a cruise the day I have the opportunity to go there.
"Ooo, Martha Stewart in prision!" 😂😂😂My favorite Benism of all times! Great video. Sadly too many stairs for me so love visiting Greece through your videos. 😊
I would far rather cruise on a small ship like this than one of the giant floating amusement parks. Quieter, more relaxing, more opportunities to get to know people, and of course the ability to get to places the larger ships can't go. Did you go to Knossos when you were on Crete? It is believed that Knossos was destroyed when the volcano on Santorini erupted around 1450 B.C.E. (or 1600 B.C.E. depending on who you read) and that that is what gave rise to the legend of Atlantis. Your nephews are adorable, by the way.
Hi Ben and David!!!! I am so glad that you enjoyed that cruise!!! I live on Santorini island and I was thrilled to see my home in your video! I have also been on that cruise many years ago and your video brought back memories!!! ❤❤
I’m so glad you kept you cat joke and Ariel moment in this version 😂 Congratulations on a new nephew those babies are beautiful! Thanks for sharing this beautiful adventure🩵
I believe your puff pastry "cake" is a Napoleon "...or mille-feuille is a classic French pastry with layers of buttery, flaky puff pastry baked until golden and crisp, then filled with alternating layers of pastry cream and whipped cream"
Looks like Oscar has major competition! Teddy is adorable! (We just had a Grandson Theodore too!!! He is giving his older brother Levi a run for his money too!) Love you guys! - Captains Bart & Sue R
Aww, thank you so much, Captains! Teddy is definitely keeping Oscar on his toes, and it sounds like Theodore is doing the same for Levi! Sending love right back to you all!
This trip looked amazing! Wow!! Jealous! Thank you for sharing so beautiful. Each island was so pretty. Not one was bad. All were so clean and beautiful.
The folks you heard yelling in that house on Milos were not arguing and nothing negative or frightening was occurring…That was just a normal discussion where those involved felt passionate about their opinions or thoughts or ……their daughters new boyfriend🙃Very normal! That is one of the many beauties of the Greeks culture. They never carry stress, buried feelings or pent up hostility. They say (very loudly)what they mean & mean what they say…they get it all out in the open & out of their system …and then dance… They are truly lovely, warm, welcoming, live & let live people..
Very much enjoyed your video. I liked seeing David have so much fun dancing and absolutely lost it when Ben did his little mermaid song up on that Rock. Bravo Bravo!!!🎉🎉🎉
I love the, “In my defense” argument. I hear both of your sides of that story, because when you’re exploring, every idea is at least partially correct. What a beautiful place to be semi lost in. Thank you for walking me around! I appreciate you. 🤗❤️😊
Went on a cruise to the Greek islands nearly 50 years ago (ships were really small then; small is so much better). Santorini and Mykonos had very few tourists then and we were the only ship there. Couldn't go there now - too many tourists and the towns seem at least twice the size. Only option of getting up to Thera was to walk or take a donkey. I walked and my husband rode a donkey. Enjoyed seeing them again on your vlog. Did you go to Knossos when on Crete? Fantastic place.
Thank you for another informative and very hilarious video! Lovely, lovely views of charming Greek islands. so glad you survived the cable car on Santorini and the harrowing landscape of that last beach. So much fun!
Did my first smaller cruise earlier this year. 600 people for 35 nights. It was fantastic. You got yo know other cruisers more, and the crew more. And the crew got to know you better as well. Not sure if I’ll ever do another of over 1,000 people again.
I just loved this video. I had never seen these islands before. Now, I am totally convinced that I should visit Greek islands. Loved the pictures of your nephews.
This looks so much better than your cruises with mainstream companies. The one I liked best was Viking but I am having second thoughts... The food in the buffet looks amazing, the time you have at ports and the places you go - really this is the only way to do Greece.
absolutely LOVE you both so much! writing to you from Texas and dreaming of traveling on all of your adventures. You both bring such joy! Happy Sailing!!
Thank you for this! We are going in couple of days on the Journey with Celestyal, and I was so happy to stumble upon your videos! You guys are awesome! Subscribed :)
Ben, I am so glad that you didn't notice that your gondola window was cracked or you really would have panicked. David, the bumps occur each time you go across the support posts for the gondola guide cables. Those Greek islands are spectacular and each one unique. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Ben & David I really appreciated this video as I will be cruising on Odyssey of the Seas on October 1st, 2024!! I wish you guys could join me. This is going to be my 1st Europe cruise and I'm very nervous and excited! Our ship will stay till 8 pm in Santorini. Come with me please 🙏 I love you guys so much!!!
I am ADDICTED to your channel! I never thought I’d like cruising but I’ve been watching all of your episodes for over a month now and you’ve made me want to cruise! It’s our 10 yr anniversary next year and we’re planning our first ever cruise. You’re both hilarious, honest and relatable ❤️ Thank you for the entertainment and honest reviews!
Yes!! I was cheering you on to go for it on those sweets! Omg. That cake!! That cabinet of sweets looked yummy too!! Beautiful footage. Thank you both for sharing your time there.
Ahhhh! I was so excited to watch this video! I am from the U.S. and I cruised the Greek islands last summer with a group of friends. We cruised on Celestyal and loved it! I have cruised on big Carnival ships, but we enjoyed the smaller ship and the ease of getting around so much more! Our cruise also went to Santorini, Mykonos and Milos, along with Thessaloniki, Rhodes in Greece, and Kusadasi(Ephesus)in Turkey, Our favorite island was Mykonos. We didn't find it as crowded as Oia in Santorini. When we go back we probably won't go back to Oia, but will stay in the capital of Fira when we are at Santorini. Oia was gorgeous, but just too busy to enjoy. We were on the cable car down the mountain at night. It was beautiful seeing the city lit up, but I was nervous of the cable car too! We saw some of the same exact views that you showed in the video and it made me hungry to go back. Speaking of hungry, isn't Greek food amazing? In general, we found the food to be much cheaper than in the States.
Wow, it sounds like you had an incredible cruise experience in the Greek islands! 😄🏝️ It's great to hear that you enjoyed the smaller ship and exploring these beautiful destinations. Yep, greek food is the best. After this trip we found ourselves making it weekly! 🚢🇬🇷🌟
Hello Ben and David. Oh my gosh that was such a special adventure to a place I have only seen in pictures on magazines for cruises or tours. I have a cousin that goes to different parts of Greece every second year so do get to see those pictures too. The diversity of the scenery was fantastic, tree covered hills, blue green ocean, the coast line on the last island was spectacular. I would totally get lost in all those winding streets too. The food was an interesting part of the cruise but was it always Greek or did they have some various meals. Thanks for taking us along on this great adventure. Have fun when meeting that cute new little baby Teddy and seeing your nephew Oscar. Take care.
Love you guys. Always making me smile & laugh. We LOVE Santorini, and Oia is one of our favorite places. When the cruise ships are gone, it is so lovely in the evening. The island just sparkles with all of the lights. It is stunning. Thanks for sharing and glad you loved the island as well. - Coreen
Ben Disney will be hiring you for the next Mermaid Film 😜🤣 my husband jumped when i started to giggle so loudly 🫣. What a Fantastic cruise i can see you both going back to some of those islands again but for a holiday. Not a cruise 😀. Thank you so much for taking us a long Really enjoyed it 🥰🥰
I watched the first video 90% of the way through, and I've enjoyed watching the last 50% of this one again. My favorite part is Milos, I'd love to go there if it doesn't get crowded before I'm able to get other there! I assume the cruise line asked you to remove the bits about how unlucky the ship has been?
This was amazing. I'm now going to look into booking a cruise with this cruise line now. I had never heard of it before. The whole trip looked incredible.
That's fantastic to hear! If you would like more information on this cruise, complete the form here: www.cruisewith.co.uk/book-a-cruise and our partner agent will be able to help.
If nobody told you, fellas, the ONLY way to drink Sprite in Greece is mixed with a double shot of Ouzo over ice. Preferably, sitting in a taverna while watching the sun set over the volcano. Your stop at Santorini brought back wonderful memories for Marianne and I from our “dream” six week trip to Greece in 1984 - before kids. The views and the whitewashed blue domed buildings - and the spectacular sunsets turning the buildings pink and magenta - look much the same but when we were there the crowds were mild, the beaches mostly empty, Oia was a sleepy backwater with almost nobody there and the tram didn’t exist, just donkeys. As much as we would love to return, I suspect we might be disappointed by how much it’s changed. But the memories - and our pictures from our manual Nikon FG with Kodak film - are permanent. Thanks again. PS the only ships worth cruising on for us are the small ones - and by small I mean less than 400 passengers. Our first cruise was on Seabourn - the Seabourn Pride, since sold - and, frankly, it spoiled us permanently.
Hi Ben and David. I'm glad it wasn't me. I thought I lost the video somehow. I love hearing about the history of some ship's. What beautiful ports. I think being on smaller ships for these ports is much better. The history of the ports is also so interesting. As always, thank you for taking us along. This might just have to be on the list of places to visit. Happy Cruising guy's ❤❤
Great advice on when to travel , we went to Santorini in early September last year, five cruise ships in . We queued at the cable car for one hour twenty in the blistering sun, thousands up on thousands of tourist like us on the top of the mountain packed like sardines . The queue for the cable car to come down was approx two hours so we walked, legs wobbling when we got to the bottom. Thankfully the good people of Celebrity giving out ice cold towels and chilled drinks while queuing for the tenders. Got back to the ship and settled on the Magic Carpet for much needed cold refreshments. People weigh the situation up on arrival if more than three ships be careful, it will be hot and uncomfortable .
Gorgeous islands!!! I definitely will need to bring extra sunscreen due to all of the reflective surfaces. I believe that I'd prefer smaller to medium cruise ships over mega ships as I am not a fan of large crowds. Besides, it seems that all the extras on mega ships come with extra fees.
Where do you get your audio assets from?? The sound design is fantastic for this vid! A lot of people don’t realize how much audio quality matters for good video and I think you guys nailed it for this one.
You have just given me an idea - why don’t Irish Ferries & Stena use smaller tender boats for foot passengers when the ferries are docked out in Dublin Bay to sail further up the River Liffey at high tide and go all the way up to the Custom House/Tara St or O’ Connell Bridge to allow passengers a greater range of onward transport options on arrival in Dublin

About the lady having the argument: we greeks always talk loud. That was probably a normal conversation for her 😄
Absolutely loved Ben as the The Little (?) Mermaid. A legitimate laugh out loud moment. Great episode fellas!
Glad you enjoyed it
I love that Ben took the high road and rode the cable-car in lieu of riding a donkey up and down the mountain.💓🐎💓Donkeys rock!
I laughed so hard at that too & a couple of other moments ! They are great!

I love how you always give props to the crew (when they deserve it). In our cruising experiences, the crew usually makes the cruise memorable.

I agree that was one of Ben’s best little jokes. 😂
Great vlog, so fun! Classic Ben-ism: "Martha Stewart in prison" ... I cackled! Your nephew Teddy is adorable.

Wow, you absolutely sold it. Looks beautiful and one for the bucket list
How awesome Ben and David. I so wish I could have been there and go to places like that. Love you guys. This was fantastic
- Coreen
Our pleasure!
This is hands down my favorite cruise you have taken. AMAZING.🎉❤
This seems like a great cruise to check off some big bucket list islands.
Broadway's calling Ben!!! 🎶
Absolutely beautiful... Greece really is amazing
On your question of number of people, 1000 is plenty. We travel on Seabourn and the most we have encountered is 600. Fantastic.
Beard looks great on you David! Y’all are the best.
Oscar rocks ! Welcome Teddy ! ❤❤
Ben doing Ariel was EVERYTHING!!! Love your videos!
Congratulations Uncles on the newest little nephew Teddy. He’s adorable 😘
Thank you! 🤗
Ben is too funny. Love that humor.
We rode that same cable car in August of 2002. Looks like it has some updates. 😊
Amazing video. I am going to start a drinking game with a sip every time you say “amazing” hehe😂
yamas!
Congratulations uncle Ben and David! Gorgeous babies!
So fun to watch you to cruising you make me laugh every time ❤
Hi Ben and David.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great advice on when to travel , we went to Santorini in early September last year, five cruise ships in .
We are headed to Greece to cruise in a few weeks aboard Explorer of the seas. Thank you for some very useful tips. We can’t wait. ❤.
❤😂😂😂Ben as Ariel. Wonder what their new ship will be like!! Greece looks amazing!!
Did Odyssey in Greece May 22. Best ship and itinerary ever!! ❤❤❤
Love the "Little Mermaid Rendition!"😂😂😂❤
You have just given me an idea - why don’t Irish Ferries & Stena use smaller tender boats for foot passengers when the ferries are docked out in Dublin Bay to sail further up the River Liffey at high tide and go all the way up to the Custom House/Tara St or O’ Connell Bridge to allow passengers a greater range of onward transport options on arrival in Dublin
Great video as always. Smaller ships for the win.
