Glad you were able to find the patterns to cut the finders. They look real good on it and no mud or water inside with you! lol Have a good weekend Joe! See ya in the next one!
Worth watching the entire video just to see the inside of front fender well and where to drill from the inside out for the front-most screw. Cutting the rear fender to fit with rock sliders is also very helpful. I got fenders first, was ready to install, but then found the template to modify to fit rock sliders. They were already on order. Thanks!
Morning Joe! She's looks mean now! LOL. Ready to take on the spring mud. Excellent detail on the install video - especially for the cuts and modifications. I am sure it will help a lot of people. Enjoy and happy mudding!
The flares are very practical. They protect much of the side surface of the machine. Helps to keep it looking good for a long time. They also look very nice installed.
Salut Joe, Great video. Typical of my project, in that I often think it is going to be quick but then reality hits and the completion timeline magically increases.....lol. You are a patient man with attention to details
We had to do the same thing to the mule at the farm.....for the modification we used conveyor belt..... Not as fancy looking for sure. You will need the flare with the wet trails and the mud in the bush......you are qualified Joe....don't worry, I assure you of that....ever see these guys in them shops work....you have no problem....looks like a pro did the job.....CHEERS
Talk about 'forcing' you to spend more money. The manufacturer already knows that fender flares are pretty well essential on their machines, yet they make it so that you have to pay for what should already be on the unit when you buy it. They've ( the manufacturer ) been doing this for years and yet we still 'happily' spend more money to finish off the ATV so we can ride it without getting totally messed up! You did do a good job here Joe, and I know you will benefit a lot for this addition.
@@FromSteelToWood I happen to know that that is about right,.at least the profit percentage on accessories is considerable higher than that of the machines. ( at least it is at a dealer near me !! )
@@FromSteelToWood Accessories having a larger profit margin is one thing, but items such as 'fender flares' which are almost essential, should have been standard equipment and installed on the machines during initial assembly, in my view. However CanAM is not alone in using that method of extra profit.. On anothe note, those flares you installed make your Defender look nicer too, don't they?
I feel the front look nice, but the rear not so much... a question of opinion I guess. Anyways, I only have consideration for purpose, not so much for the look!
Hi Joe! Great mod to your Can-Am! The custom cuts you had to make looked like a pain but your skill was more than up to the task. I’m considering a fender kit for the Polaris, especially the front where a lot of mud get slung up into the underside of the hood. Thanks for sharing!
Good evening Joe ! Nice add-on! This machine is very well tough out ! It will help to keep it clean ! We did the same thing because the track are a lot wider than tires and they tro a lot of snow or mud!
Absolutely right. I can't figure it's not OEM equipment. Just came back from Brampton yesterday (driving). I've noticed there was little or no snow in Mallorytown. Do you have any at your place in Perth?
Good morning My Friend, great looking fenders 😉🧐👌👍 Knowing myself, I will probably add Black Silicone Flextra between the new flares and the body to add strength 🥴🤣 Cheers !!!
Lol! Then a lot of anti-corrosion oil everywhere! Then grease and yellow paint! I bet your tractor gained 20lbs from its original weight! Seriously, I wondered what would happen if I were to hit the fenders something hard. We will see I guess!
Good morning gentlemen. Joe since you found the dimples I am surprised the screws are not self tapping which would eliminate the drilling steps. If you have some tubing maybe some brush guards could be fabricated to act as guards for those “Did I do That ?” moments.Save the yellow paint for the “Beep Beep” plow markings. I am happy you felt qualified to do the job by yourself. Maybe the company will send you a certificate of approval. 65 degrees here today. Found “AK Dad” live stream the other day. Had a quick live chat. Cheers to both of you.
@@FromSteelToWood The silicone will transfer the impact energy toward all the surface and not only the screws,,, and also will add strength on each sides ( flares and body ! ) 😉👍 Yes I'm a grease/oil man 🥴🤣👍
Salut Joe!!! Nothing is easy eh!!! Even when you buy the kit from the dealer you still have to stick handle some to get everything to line up. Turned out nice though. Those flares will make a big difference. On my Can-Am 500 XT ATV I had the same problem with the dirt and mud flying up and getting all over me. I got the flares and no issues after that!! Thanks for sharing and take care!!
I am surprised that they did not come as standard equipment. It looked a much harder job than I expected it would be but it looks great with them fitted
Allo Joe. Looks great with the flares. You would think that they should come from the factory with the flares installed. Your voice comes out clear in the video, the furnace fan sound is barely noticeable and I don't notice it after a while.
Last week had to go get parts for the Ski-doo at the BRP dealer, noticed they have a 80 pages accessories catalogue for the Defender. Keep calm and resist to the temptation 😁.
