As a huge fan of the original Seventh Doctor audio story arc, I feel this story is a decade too late, this really should've been done back around 2014-15 when the seventh doctor audios were at their height and all these characters were still fresh in people's memories
I think the reason u may not have enjoyed this episode is because u may not be that familiar with seven as it’s got loads of characters from his era as hex, sally and Lysandra are from his early adventures in the main range which I really really recommend (also hex is a 2021 nurse so he’s fucking brilliant) and it’s also kind of set up for the second part which will probably have most of the character work for seven
From the title, this premise isn't what I was expecting? I thought this might be the 7th's last hurrah before landing on Earth for his demise in the TV Movie. Maybe that's what they should have gone for??
How could The Last Day part 2 stick the landing if The Last Day part 1 didn't even take off the ground?
Hex's inclusion in this is by far the biggest draw to this story for me (highly recommend his run, and Evelyn Smythe's run with the Sixth Doctor as a prerequisite, as I think it's the best Big Finish arc), but despite that I'm holding off on purchasing... With Big Finish's output as of late in mind (particularly for these types of stories), I don't trust them to be able to pull off another one of these vast fan-servicey, high concept stories. They just so often have not been coming together in a cohesive and satisfying way lately, which is a shame... Waiting to see the reception to the conclusion first still though
I had ordered this set as the Seventh Doctor is my favourite but I was a bit concerned that I wouldn't know some of the characters (though I have listened to the Third Doctor story which features that Mother character). After hearing your review I'm not overly sure I'd enjoy this set but I'm hoping to be proved wrong (and that Part Two is an improvement). Still waiting on the CDs to arrive too...this is the longest I've had to wait for a Big Finish CD...
I like the pairing of Mel and Benny. I am not entirely sure where it is heading but I expect this could be brilliant when we hear the remaining 6 episodes. If they are pulling together lots of old faces I hope Kelin makes an appearance.

I've gone through almost all of the things required for understanding who the characters are in this one, and it certainly helps, but yeah it definitely suffers from interrupting the good parts with other random stuff, i hope part 2 ties it all together but it's a confusing release, especially for people who haven't tried to backtrack through all the required listening.
I feel like, at this point, Big Finish need to come up with some kind of rating system for how much pre-listening you need to do for each story in order to understand what’s happening in it.
I’ve had this a couple times now, like pulling a loose thread from a jumper only to find the whole thing unravelling, like you can’t just enjoy one adventure because it’s also a sequel to three other stories, a prequel to two and a spinoff from another.
Can we at least have a flowchart of some kind? It’s really starting to hamper my ability to enjoy Big Finish stories. I’d like to know the accessibility rating beforehand.
I think it feels that way because they've spliced different stories into one linear thing. It mightve been vetter if the different stories were actually different episodes.
this couldve been a random story and it wouldn't have really bugged me but the fact that its the 7th doctor's last story before the movie just kind of annoys me that its not turning out good
