This is such an excellent video, exactly how I was taught. The only addition I would make is where the triple pleat meets the top I would also catch that with a thread, it really pulls the pleat in and makes it sharper. Thanks for refreshing my mind re the calculation of pleats to fabric, which is why I checked in originally.
Hi TheKatMle, that is awesome that you were able to get right to work! I'm very impressed! You can use drapery pins and install these on a traverse rod, which has a cord to open and close the draperies. Or you can use drapery rings that have an eyelet (instead of a clip), that the pins can go in. We sell rings with eyelets under our Aria brand on our RowleyDIY website. Happy sewing!
Suzare, The example shown in the video is one width of material, which finishes at 48" before pleating and 24" after pleating. If you want the panel to finish at a specific size, the spaces will need to be adjusted. For example; spaces can be 3.5", 3.75", 4", 4.25" etc. What is leftover will go into the pleats. To know how much fabric to use before pleating, multiply the finished size needed by 2.5. Good Luck!
Great video, but I don't know how to calculate how wide to make a finished panel to cover a specific window size. You started with a 48" panel - did you know ahead of time how wide the finished pinch-pleated drapery would be and was that your desired width? If you have some formula for how to start the construction of the drapery panel prior to pleating to end with the desired width for your window, I would be forever grateful for the help. Thanks for this helpful video - Suz
