most of them are communication problem I guess. lifting car back down means "everything's ok and u can go" and there is one guy who is responsible for it. so, it is a problem of communication between that lifting guy and other crews..
In this day and age of computers and automation, surely a sensor could be fitted to check that the wheel nut is tight and the tool withdrawn, along with an indicator that the fuel cap is closed. Correctly designed to automatically lower the jack on the final 'all clear', time could actually be saved, since the guy on the jack does not have 5 pairs of eyes.
6:15 I think these drivers are on to something. If the fuel hose is long enough...the car can make it around the whole length of the track without needing to refuel.
@@andreguerra8027 yeah it's true, it's not common to many vehicles outside some super high-end car racing though. I think Formula 1 also has built in lift pistons, but IndyCar doesn't if I recall correctly.
One of my best pitstop fails in DTM is the final round of 2005 in Hockenheim with Opel's Heinz Harald Frentzen, when he's got problem with front right rain tire won't come off and he drove his Opel Vectra GTS V8 the whole race with all of slicks except a same only hottest heavy rain tire but unfortunately retired on lap 29.
Does the driver control when the jack is released to drop the car down on the wheels? I didn't know the cars can jack themselves up, always thought there was a jack used by the pit crew, but it seems like that's not used here.
Nah, the jacks are controlled out side from a compressed air house that usually gets shoved into socket that's in the back window most of the time.. Funny though how all those lost wheels are all the fault of the premature jack man
Damo Mehlich I didn't see anyone with a hose on these videos; if there's a jack man in control of this, and not the driver, then who's giving him the direction when it's ready to drop back down? Why would he drop the car down when the wheels aren't secured yet? That seems to be the cue the driver is looking for as to when he can take off. If all wheels are still up in the air, the driver can't take off no matter how eager he is. If it's the driver controlling the lift, then that's another story.
The amount of times that wheels fall of cars after a pit stop is incredible, not just DTM all forms of 4 wheel motorsports, and considering the amount of practice the pit crews get it seems strange that it does happen more often than expected, especially by the more experienced teams, so I am wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to why?. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴
Honestly, there needs to be better communication. Someway of making communication for when something is off and not going smoothly or routine so they know not to drop.
The one you say it's Patrick Huisman (Nurburgring 2001), I believe was in fact Bernd Maylander (Manthey Racing Mercedes CLK-DTM number 9). Patrick was running car number 10.

Lord Tachanka lol
New power up. Gain fuel while driving
If this really is the 10 worst pit stops in DTM then I would say that the DTM pit crew do their job very well!
tbh half of those wasn't the pit crew fault and its the drivers who just left early
Karthikeyan Saravanan . if it runs the same rules as v8 supercar in australia. the car is to remain on jacks untill the fuel in in the car and fuel hose removed all fault goes to the guy with the jack hose driver is trained to take off the second the car drops
Karthikeyan Saravanan the drivers all left on the signal to go. They can't see the wheel guys, so it's on whoever controls the signal
Leg atus I think the fastest one this weekend was 6.9 seconds. That is very quick considering there is only one mechanic allowed for each wheel
Leg atus Not now, but I don't know when they got rid of it

Most of these fails seem to be ether driver related or Jackman dropping to soon. Dropping means "go" so they will gas it soon as you do.
