And BINGO you got me... I wasnt always taking my lisinopril on a daily basis. But then Twice this month I was admitted for hypertensive crisis (BP 235/130) with severe headache/blurry vision. luckily I am on blood thinners for afib or I could have stroked out. I was ultimately put on a third BP med and referred to a nephrologist to have scans done of my kidneys to see if theres any issues there.
This happened to me 5yrs ago. Went to the ER, got administered my meds, sat there in bed for 4hrs, with a massive nosebleed, blood clotted in HUGE lumps, doc told me to blow my nose (crime scene😅), waited another 3hrs for my bp to completely normalize, went home. It happened again this past Saturday 11/23/2024 while I was watching my G'Son who was asleep at the time. Had ab/kidney pain already. Bled 12hrs straight, lost no less than a cup of blood...it literally poured from left to right non stop except for a 1/2hr. Started right back up when I hit my weed pipe cuz I was freaking out. Put that ish down and chilled til 12noon. It finally stopped and didnt return as of today Tues. My bp is bouncing back and forth between 140's systolic and 90's diastolic...it was 227/158!!! I thought I was gonna die in front of my grandson😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪
I had blood pressure over 200 for a while, with no chest pains, dizziness, and blurred vision. I have been suffering from insomnia and getting up in the night for years, plus I have terrible anxiety. I was admitted to same day emergency treatment with hypertension crisis. But my blood work is fine, no organ issues. ECG scan showed anxiety problems. Chest X ray clear. No sign of diabetes/high blood sugars. I had a blood pressure tablet, then checked after 90 mins, and nothing had changed. I had another one, again after 90 mins no change. I had another consultation with the doctors, and they were bemused but said I'd need to be kept in overnight on a drip if it didn't go down. They then gave me two lots of different meds, and it finally went down to 140-150. I was so happy I thought I was going home, then it went back up to 174, and they kept me on overnight for observation. I don't think anxiety is treated as a cause. I said to the doctor I don't think it's really going to go down until I get anxiety sorted.
A test question was, sodium nirtroprusside is fastest in hypertensive crisis, so i came to understand the drugs used, i think i wrote the title wrong? I did get useful information, just not what i wanted
Thank you. I just had a Pt with this issue and this video helped me to understand I should have considered renal function. (I’m still learning re: acute care).
