I just picked up a 2016 F150 in excellent condition. The last thing I want to do is drill holes in the truck to install a traditional antenna mount for my HAM radio. I discovered this BulletProofDiesel mount after a little research and decided this is exactly what want. You did an excellent job showing how to install this. Thank you, great video!
Just purchased. Can’t wait to put it on my ‘19 F-150. Mine did not come with an antenna for the other NMO mount. Waiting to get both of my antennas in before I mount.
Just installed my antenna mount today. Your video really helped with the installation on my 2024 Ford Maverick. The light connector was a bit different but still easy. Tomorrow its the radio installation. Should be easy as my battery is under the rear seats where my antenna wires are now placed. I noticed the cabling was manufactured by DX Engineering. I assume they partnered up with Bullet Proof Diesel. Impressive! Great job!
@@DIYRAY Already done. Have you done any range testing with your GMRS radio? I own a 2015 Ford F-150 and since it is mostly aluminum I have been looking for a way to install a decent GMRS 2 way and maybe a HAM 2 way. Your video brings hope to my problem. Keep up the positive work.
@@ldean2832 my range is very good. I’m able to hit my clubs repeaters a few miles away from my house also having the antenna at its highest point help with reception.
Did you ever put an SWR meter on the GMRS side? I also have a ham radio setup in my 2015 F150. Due to having an ATAS-120 on the front driver side quarter panel area and a dual band vertical on the front passenger side quarter panel I'm short on space for a GMRS antenna with good ground.
Great video. I'm leaning towards this mount, but I"m still not sure I'm willing to drill into my truck. Looks wise, this is exactly what I want, plus it gets the antenna higher. What is the bracket you have your radio mounted to? Looks like a good way to mount the radio to me.
I was told you shouldn't roll your extra cable up, cut and shorten or run through your vehicle. Have you found and loss from it being rolled us as you showed in video?
I want that same GMRS radio, I have the same Builtright industries molle panel which i never used so I'd like to put the radio there too, how are you extending the handheld?
Hi..thank you for making this video - will attempt the same installation on my 23 SD Tremor. Can you advise how your routed 12v power from the battery to the radio's behind your back seat?
Thanks for your comments. Please watch the videos short on my channel on how I install my radio. Good luck 🍀 and please remember to subscribe and like the videos.
Very clean install. I have the single antenna version on my truck and i love it. It is super clean and an amazing look for the truck. What is that rack you used to mount the radios to behind the seat? I have an f150, not sure if it would work, but would like to research 🤔

Great video. You got right into it, no 30 second video lead in! No nonsense and very informative.

That manual is awesome! Detailed with pictures, and like you said, you don't see that anymore.

Clean setup, going to get this for my F250 so I can install 2 way radio.

Those mounts look great, I wish there was an option for my truck.

That is a clean look! Thanks for sharing.

@DIYRAY after all this time, how is it working? I'm looking at getting a single antenna mount for my Ram
@@jamesweatherby5520 working just fine. It’s expensive but I don’t regret buying it.
Nice video! Do you think the standard 15' coax that comes with it will reach to under the front seat?
@@aa5az423 Thanks for your question, yes i think it will be enough. Coax to reach the front.
VERY good video. What were your SWR readings on both radios?
I haven’t installed the second radio yet. Once I do then I willing measure the swr.
So how has it worked out? Maybe a long term review? Any promplems? Have you tested different antennas?
Where is the link to Bullet proof Diesel where you purchased the antenna mount bracket?
I didn’t add it in the description. Sorry. Just do a search for bullet proof diesel.
I so wanted this! I checked out their website and no love for a 2008 F-150. 😭😭😭
@@devinhedge you know, you know what that means? Time for a new truck!🛻
How was SWR?
How has this held up a year later on?
It’s holding up well, I don’t have the swr rating but it seems to be working fine. Thanks for your comment.

Nice video. I want to do gmrs and cb Will this work or do i have to specify what i want when ordering? Thanks
This will work for your project. Good luck 🍀
How did you run the wire from the radio to the faceplate I'm assuming? Solid work and very clean.
Using the cable that was supply with the item. Please check out the video shorts that i recorded showing my set up.
Thank you!...I have the same bracket and getting ready to do the install...I have the same Midland...what are you going to use for the Ham radio??
I haven't install my Ham radio yet. Still doing doing other projects. But will get to this soon. Maybe will be going with a Icon.

How is the noise floor with the antennae that close to the oem antennae on the roof?
How is it grounded?
Though the installation on the roof and radio cables to the radio.
What is the dril size that u use

You've spent some serious cash on your truck, between the antenna mount and the tonneau cover (diamondback) you're $2.5k deep in accessories.

Way to much money for an antenna mount😂 get a pocket mount or a tool box for the bed would be cheaper
